[2010.02.01] RAYMOND WONG'S SON ENABLES A KISS BETWEEN SANDRA NG AND HIS FATHER

Raymond Wong Pak Ming on the 30th brought his son Wong Chi Wun to Xian to promote the film ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL TOO 2010 (FA TIN HEI SI 2010). As the screen writer, Wong Chi Wun revealed that his father and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu worked together five times without kissing. He arranged for it for the audience and believed that everyone was looking forward to it.

Wong Chi Wun was the screen writer of IP MAN, DRAGON TIGER GATE, FLASH POINT (DOH FOR SIN), SEVEN SWORDS (CHUT GIM) and other films. With DRAGON TIGER GATE he was nominated for the Golden Horse Best Screenplay Adaptation. He was no less talented than his father Wong Pak Ming. Wong Pak Ming explained that he never forced his son to work in film. "I once sent him overseas to study economics, I never expect for him to come back and still work in film. This is his interest." Wong Chi Wun said that his film profession indeed was due to his father's influence, but he did not feel any pressure. He only hoped to be able to exceed his father a little in the future. He expressed that he was already over 31, so he would not consider on camera development. Yet he would not eliminate the possibility of playing a bit role in movies.

In ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL TOO 2010, Wong Pak Ming and son worked together for the first time as actor and screen writer. Wong Chi Wun was pleased that his position was a little higher than his father's. "Whatever I write he has to play. He is the type of actors who would follow the screenplay." The fantasy story felt rather fresh for Wong Chi Wun, who was used to serious stories.

The Lunar New Year also will have other comedies like the star studded HOT SUMMER DAYS (CHUEN SING YIT LUEN YIT LAT LAT) and the Eric Tsang Chi Wai production 72 TENANTS OF PROSPERITY (72 GA JO HAT) to compete with ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL TOO 2010 at the box office. Yet Wong Pak Ming with his years of Lunar New Year film experience was quite confident. "I am confident that I can beat Tsang Chi Wai." He would like the chance to work with Mainland Lunar New Year film director Feng Xiaogang.

The Media Asia invested, Johnnie To Kei Fung directed new film DEATH OF A HOSTAGE (DUET MING GUM) earlier held a production start ceremony. Attending actors included Lau Ching Wan, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Denise Ho Wan Si, Lo Hoi Peng and So Hung Suen.

Lau Ching Wan said that several years ago he already worked on the film for several days. He joked, "I am not afraid of telling you, years ago I worked on this film for several days. At the time my character was someone who dared to do anything for a living. I don't know if it would change after the production starts." Siu Chai joked that he still has not begun work, but he already attended four costume fittings. A year ago he already knew he had the chance to work with Ching Wan, which he truly looked forward to. Unfortunately he still has not begun work yet.

Although Ah Si has only worked for several days, she already expressed that she was very clear about the director's production content. The subject revolved around fund and investment. On the day of the production start ceremony, she took the chance to ask two elders Ching Wan and Siu Chai for advice. As for To Kei Fung, she expressed that she has only been in contact with the director for a few days and thought he was very polite. She heard that Director To was very strict. Before the shoot she kept worrying. After several days of work she felt that he only pretended to be mean on the set, personally he was very polite and friendly. She joked that she already saw through his face down card and now is no longer afraid. Ah Si even said that sometimes she realized that the director would suddenly blur out a few lines of jokes.

Ching Wan said that Ah Si felt Director To was funny because she was only in touch with his surface. Actually the director truly was very mean. Siu Chai also said that when he worked with Director To for the first time, he heard Director To kept scolding at someone with foul language. However none of it was repeated. He even invented foul language of his own, which was quite funny. At the time no one dared to laugh. Siu Chai said that the director actually had the heart of a child, very serious and very demanding. Ching Wan said that during interviews everyone should avoid talking about the director. He was afraid that after the news was published, the director would be different when they returned to work.

The music industry's final report card, the 32nd Annual Top Ten Chinese Gold Song Award took place last night at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Eason Chan Yik Shun and Joey Yung Cho Yi both won six awards to become big winners. They won the Year's Highest Selling Singer, National Best Singer, and Most Excellent Popular Singer awards. Eason even won the Global Chinese Best Gold Song Award, but due to his goose egg from the earlier TVB Jade Solid Gold award he was three awards behind Joey Yung Cho Yi and did not win the Media Award. Joey won 19 awards in four award shows and the Media Award. Universal was the big winner among record companies with 14 awards, holding back Emperor Entertainment's 12 awards.

Due to the four major record and TVB royalty issue dispute, earlier four major record singers not only took home an goose egg at the Jade Solid Gold awards, TVB while broadcasting the other two stations' award shows cut four majors' singer performance. Because Radio and Television Hong Kong buy air time on TVB, last night TVB broadcast the complete version of the award show. Four major records singers appeared on TVB again, but during commercial time, DJ Law Kai Sun joked that four major record companies had enough gingko (slang for empty handed) for tong shui; he also said that four major record companies were called four majors, then what rank was Yung Cho Yi's record company? He also said that he read in the news that Chan Yik Shun claimed that he could not catch up to Yung Cho Yi (referring to media award), but Chan Yik Shun was already married so of course if he could not catch her he had to give up; he also said that someone recently dug up Cao Cao's tomb, Gary Chaw (Cho Gat) was such a good fighter that he should claim to be Cao Cao's descendant. Yet the only HK$1000 fine was very curious, because it was not enough for spa in Thailand. Yet it also had a great sympathetic reason, because Cho Gat was too soft Justin Lo (Juk Tin)'s cap was not knocked off. Later, he again changed the subject back to TVB. "Earlier some claimed that someone in RTHK is conspiring against someone, I don't know what is called conspiring. I only know what is called assassination. Earlier (Eric) Tsang Chi Wai said that you should pay when you ask people (to make movie), not laisee and say endless thanks.....remember you are TVB and not 'no money' television."

Last night the event presented the Golden Needle Award to the late singer Danny Chan Pak Keung. Papa Chan accepted the award on behalf of his son. On stage he expressed that Chan Pak Keung has left for 16 or 17 years, but his songs still had many fans. He felt very pleased and comforted, and thanked the fans. Then Ivana Wong Yuen Chi and Hins Cheung King Hin performed Chan Pak Keung's classic songs as a salute. In addition, earlier accepting ATV's interview Jacky Cheung Hok Yau appeared on TVB again as the guest performer. Hok Yau joked, "Why am I on stage? Because I just released a new record, aren't I rotten? What can I do! Now promoting is very tough." He also said that this time he mainly wanted to support Cantonese songs. Although now Mandarin song market was more profitable, he was born in Hong Kong and sang Cantonese songs. He also experienced the best time of the music scene so he had to come out and support Cantonese songs.

Ella Koon Yun Na, Denise Ho Wai Si, Lawrence Chou Chun Wai, Wilfred Lau Ho Lung and Nora Miao (Miu Ho Sau) yesterday worked on their new film DUNG FUNG POR (EAST WIND BREAK).

Playing a leukemia patient, Koon Yun Na looked ailing. Ella expressed that earlier she had to shoot in a coffin home but she was not afraid. She said, "I don't have the worship habit, but when in Rome do as the Romans do, I prayed with the team for peace." She said that scene had 20 coffins as the background. Earlier they used props but in this scene they used real coffin home coffins. Ella said, "The coffins had real corpses, but I wasn't afraid. I looked at them while acting like friends."

Ho Wan Si appeared in a dress. She said that she played a single parent housewife who raised a six year old child on her own. "The child looks a little like me, triggering my motherly love." Dressing more femininely lately she joked that everyone had their own opinions whether she was attractive. She also denied that the man she was caught with was a suitor. She stressed that he was a married but divorced friend.

Donnie Yen Chi Tan was busy with the LEGEND OF CHEN ZHEN (JING MO YING HUNG) film production was absent. Rumored to be pregnant, Vicki Zhao Wei did not appear. The lead actress has been absent from the film promotion. Director Lee Yan Kong yesterday publicly admitted Zhao Wei's pregnancy. Lee Yan Kong said, "I fully understand Zhao Wei, I hope everyone can give her some personal pace. As a good friend, we stand on her side. Anyone would want to see the birth of their own child." He expressed that after completing 14 BLADES he has only seen Zhao Wei once, as they met for dinner during post production.

Wu Chun became 14 BLADES' primary promotion actor. Wu Chun gave up his usual sunshine boy image. In a topless armor he showed off his tight abs and mesmerized many female fans. Wu Chun expressed that because he liked to eat, he could only exercise more to stay in shape. Wu Chun said, "My past characters were all mild mannered. I wasn't used to playing the film's Magistrate character, but I have no bottom line for my roles. As long as the character requires it and the subject is healthy I have no problem."

[2010.01.30] MIRIAM YEUNG BRINGS JOY TO THE SET

courtesy of on.cc

Alan Tam Wing Lun and Miriam Yeung Chin Wa's Lunar New Year film HERE COMES FORTUNE (CHOI YUEN MAN SHUI, formerly CHOI SUN DOH) will open February 25. Director James Yuen Sai Sun praised Yeung Chin Wa, "She was very happy after marriage. She was very focused on the production. At work with her and Alan the production was very happy and smooth."

Yuen Sai Sun revealed that if the film performed ideally at the box office, he would make a sequel next year. "If the box office is ideal, I will choose three other Chinese cities to shoot in and show China's specialty in the film." In addition, CHOI YUEN MAN SHUI (FORTUNE ROMANCE HAIL) was originally titled CHOI SUN DOH (FORTUNE GOD ARRIVES). Because it had to make way for AVATAR its release was postponed to the Lunar New Year second round. The film company felt that the Lunar New Year already passed so its Hong Kong title was changed.

The Eric Tsang Chi Wai produced Lunar New Year film yesterday released many stills. Among them TVB rising star Samantha Ko Hoi Ning and Jeanette Leung Ching Kok caught the most attention in swimwear to sell appliances, even more so than Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and Anita Yuen Wing Yi.

The Tsang Chi Wai, Cheung Hok Yau, Yuen Wing Yi, Charmaine Sheh Si Man, Raymond Lam Fung and other TVB artists starred 72 TENANTS OF PROSPERITY (72 GA JO HAT) yesterday released stills. According to the film company, in the film Chi Wai and Hok Yau originally were sworn brothers who both fell for Yuen Wing Yi. Thus they became romantic rivals. They feuded from the 70s to 2010 as Sai Yeung Choi Street became their battlefield. They competed in making plastic flowers, selling pungent tofu, star flash cards and appliances as they witnessed the changes through the eras.

[2010.01.29] RAYMOND LAM AND MIRIAM YEUNG WORK ON THEIR NEW FILM

courtesy of on.cc

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and Raymond Lam Fung ten years ago worked on the television series TASTE OF LOVE (MEI MEI CHING YUEN) reunite for the big screen. Two nights ago they worked on location for the Barbara Wong Chun Chun directed new film PERFECT WEDDING (tentative title). Due to the chilly weather, before places both wore heavy coats to keep out the cold and often drank hot tea to keep warm. During the shoot, Chin Wa and Lam Fung first struggled and argued, then Lam Fung coaxed her back as they took a romantic strode.

Newlywed Yeung Chin Wa was particularly involved in the romantic scene. In another scene, when Lam Fung pushed her away, Chin Wa immediately grabbed him and leaned on him. Finally they were in a close embrace. Perhaps because they have not worked together in a long time, they still have not cultivated chemistry on their first day of work and Lam Fung rarely made movies, they often had bad takes.

A group of Emperor singers Leo Ku Kui Ke, Joey Yung Cho Yi, Sherman Chung Shu Man and 72 TENANTS OF PROSPERITY (72 GA JO HAT) actors Bernice Liu Bik Yi, Bosco Wong Chung Chak and others two nights ago attended a TVB JADE SOLID GOLD taping. The film's helmer Eric Tsang Chi Wai also appeared. About the absence of male lead Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Chi Wai joked that they have parted ways. Chi Wai said, "I am in charge of the small station, he is in charge of the big station, our promotion is at every turn!" Would Hok Yau have any way to appear on TVB to promote the new film? Chi Wai said, "Later he will participate in the premiere and the Guangzhou promotion, but he will separate his record and film very clearly. (Will you ask him to be the mediator?) This is between the companies!" Reportedly TVB is pumping up this film to crush other Lunar New Year film like ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL TOO 2010 (FA TIN HEI SI 2010). Chi Wai responded, "Of course not! Goo Jai (Louis Koo Tin Lok) and (Sandra Ng) Kwan Yu appeared on other programs. We dare not hesitate. Earlier (Raymond) Wong Pak Ming and I bet a meal. Actually no matter who wins, we hope to motivate the Spring Festival box office! (Are you confident?) Only ours is modern, the others are all costume. Historically modern comedies have more advantage, so I am confident." Did they wager dinner and dancing? Chi Wai joked, "He will lose so badly that he will be dancing, I hope to win a pretty battle!"
