The Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild Award Ceremony and
annual banquet took place two nights ago. This year's banquet had 33
tables, attending guess included Tony Leung Chiu Wai and his wife
Carina Lau Ka Ling, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Sammo Hung Kam Bo and Joyce
Godenzi (Go Lai Hung), Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Johnnie To Kei Fung, Andrew
Lau Wai Keung, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Raymond Lam Fung, Charlene Choi
Cheuk Yin, Carlos Chan Ka Lok, Jennifer Yu Heung Ying, Chung Suet
Ying, Rachel Leung Yung Ting, Louise Wong Dan Nei, Niki Chow Lai Kei,
Catherine Chau Ka Yi, Amy Yip Chi Mei, Angela Hui Ching Wan, Raymond
Wong Ho Yin, and mainland actor Da Peng. Leung Chiu Wai was named
the Directors' Guild Best Actor. He thanked To Ke Fung for inspiring
him. He would head to Germany for a movie and miss the Hong Kong Film
Awards. He also revealed that he and famous Japanese director Hirokazu
Kore-eda already had plans to work together; Yu Heung Ying received
the Best Actress award from Lau Ka Ling and admitted that it had
special meaning. During the interview she even broke down in tears of
joy.
<br /><br />Before the banquet the annual award presentation took place
to comend filmmakers's contributions of the past year. Best Film was
A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG). Best Director went to Soi
Cheang Pou Soi for MAD FATE (MING ONG). Tony Leung Chiu Wai with
THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI) received Best Actor. Jennifer Yu Heung
Ying (IN BROAD DAY (BAK YUN JI HA)) won Best Actress. Best New Actor
was FLY ME TO THE MOON (DAN YUEN YUN CHEUNG GAU)'s Tse Wing Yan, TIME
STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI) director Nick Cheuk Yik Him
received New Director. The Achievement award was presented to the
late director Alex Law Kai Yui. The Executive Council special prize
went to the film DUST TO DUST (DAI BAK GOR YIM YI YUN).
<br /><br />Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting accepted the Achievement Award on behalf
of the late director Law Kai Yui. Cheung Yuen Ting on behalf of Law
Kai Yui thanked everyone who have worked with him, including every
boss, actor, worker and viewers, film critices and people online who
have yelled at and encouraged him. Without everyone's motivation he
would not have reached this step. She also gave special thanks to
the Directors' Guild for presenting this awrad to Law Kai Yui. "For
him it is very valuable, it is the recognition, remembrance and
appreciation of him from his colleagues. I would put this award at
the altar at home and say to Law Kai Yui, you finally officially
reached the altar!"
<br /><br />Johnnie To Kei Fung presented the Best Actor. He joked that
he did not need to open the envelope to know that it would be for Wai
Jai. "I have known Wai Jai for 40 years, at the time I already knew
he was strong, but I never would have guessed that he would be so
amazingly strong." Leung Chiu Wai after receiving the award thanked
the Directors' Guild and was even happy that he was able to receive
this award from To Kei Fung. "When I got into the business my first
series was THE DUKE OF MOUNT DEER, he gave a lot of inspiration. On
the first day of work he already asked my look was 'like this', he
indeed has inspired me a lot." To Kei Fung said, "You are the one
who inspired me more!" They appeared to be very friendly and held
hands as they left the stage. Wai Jai said that he was very happy to
have the recognition and the encouragement, getting the award from To
Kei Fung made him extra happy. "I still remember how the first day
went on THE DUKE OF MOUNT DEER. To Kei Fung said my look wasn't dirty
enough, because as soon as I appeared I had to look like I was from the
streets. He gave me a lot of inspirations, as an actor other than
performance I also had to have many ideas on appearance." Wai Jai
have not worked with To Kei Fung in many years, and wanted to have the
opportunity to work together again. "It also depends on fate, I don't
know if we are thinking the same thing. To spend some time to live
together, we have to have the same life views and values to very
easily get together to make a movie." Despite reunitng after many
years, Wai Jai felt not much has changed between him and To Kei Fung.
When they saw each other and chatted he still felt like they were
good frinds, but life views and values would have to be further
discussed. To Kei Fung joked that he was the one who was inspired,
Wai Jai said, "People have to inspire each other, there is no more or
less." The Hong Kong Film Awards would take place next month. Was he
confident about winning Best Actor? He said, "It doesn't matter! I
always feel it's not an award, but work and passion. How much you
have contributed can't be measured by an award." He said that he put
in a lot of time on making movies, and felt it was well worth the time
already. Winning an award would be even better. "Of course winning
an award would be the best, when you contribute a lot, after you
finish you would have a sense of satisfaction." He would have to head
to Germany to prepare for his foreign film on the 22nd, so he
would not be able to attend the Hong Kong Film Awards. In addition
famous Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda would tailor a scrpit for
him. Wai Jai revealed that lst year at the Tokyo International Film
Festival they met and already planned a collaboration. He only was not
sure about the character and when the production would begin.
<br /><br />Lau Ka Ling presented Best Actor on behalf of the ailing Ann
Hui On Wa to Jennifer Yu Heung Ying. With the award in hand, Yu Heung
Ying thanked her former co-star Lau Ka Ling for presenting the award
to her. Before coming to the stage she heard the song LYRICIST SOUL,
which reminded her of a lot of memories from her 9 years in the
business, running into many good people and opportunities on her dream
chasing journey. She gave special thanks to director Lawrence Kan Kwan
Chun for believing in her, even when she got married and had a child
he still trusted her and let her become a good actor. She also thanked
her IN BROAD DAYLIGHT co-star John Chiang Dai Wai and declared, "I
love you!" She stated, "I am very lucky, I have run into many
directors for taking me to new places, I personally really trust
directors. I hope to have the opportunity to work with directors
here I haven't had the chance to work with, I am a new generation
actor!" Yu Heung Ying was crying tears of joy when interviewed. She
pointed out that she appeared calm on the stage, but actually she was
so nervous that she was not able to react. "So when I got off stage
and saw everyone I got very emotional, the journey so far to this step
has been very wonderful, in particular getting the award from Sister
Ka Ling's hand was especially meaningful. I worked with her on my
second film, my role wasn't much but I was very grateful. I heard
a lot of applause in the audience and felt the love for me from many
people. I am very happy to be able to win with Leung Chiu Wai. I
hope we would have the chance to work together." Was she confident
about winning the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress? She said, "I
haven't thought this far, right now I still haven't digested this yet.
Tonight I would celebrate first. Last year when I came I was still
pregnant and couldn't play." She said that she would not hold any
special celebration, only a simple dinner with family.
<br /><br />Best New Actor Award winner Tse Wing Yan felt very honored to
have won the award. She thanked the director for taking her out of
Mongkok and each actor for rehearsing with her and increasing her
confidence. However during the interview, when she handed the award
to the manager it slipped out of her hands and the award had a little
damage. Director Nick Cheuk Yik Him with TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES
(NIN SIU YUT GEI) received New Director. He thanked the Directors'
Guild and all the actors and the production team, especially producer
Derek Yee Tung Sing for lending a helping hand when he ran into
trouble, comfort when he was lost, and telling him to get lost when he
got lazy.
<br /><br />Big Brother Big Sammo Hung Kam Bo attended the Directors' Guild
with a cane and his wife Joyce Godenzi (Go Lai Hung). He looked much
thinner. He joked that his wife was abusing him, keeping him from
eating too much -- especially carbohydrates. Hung Kam Bo said that
now he still suffered from constant leg pain without any physical
therapy. He did not know whether he should do the exercises or not.
"I am very upset inside, I have been training in martial arts since
age 9 to 50 something, now in my 70s I still have to train. Now I
am only doing upper and lower lip exercises to eat." He said that he
would watch movies on his free time. He saw IN BROAD DAYLIGHT and A
GUILTY CONSCIENCE, and knew that Hong Kong had many more new directors.
However due to the poor timing and luck they could not continue on.
The Hong Kong film market climate has been very poor, for example IN
BROAD DAYLIGHT received good word of mouth and box office. However
making another one still had difficulty with finding investors. Even
action films no longer explored new action stars. Recently someone
online caught him giving money to a beggar but worried that he was
swindled. Hung Kam Bo said, "He was handicapped, even if it was fake,
giving him money isn't anything. I know some beggars are richer than
me, I don't care. The most important is how the person is inside,
getting swindled is no problem. I would let my conscience be killed."
<br /><br />Speaking of Jackie Chan after attending an event being called
old online for having a head of gray hair, Hung Kam Bo spoke up on
his behalf, "Who doesn't get old, as long as he is old and healthy he
is fine! Why do they make it sound so bad, people who say that won't
get old because they won't have the chance to get old. People in
the society now speaks irresponsibly, some people would say or do
anything for their own benefit."
<br /><br />Hui Ching Wan was a little nervous about attending her first
Directors' Guild banquet. She got the chance to participate thanks to
the Emperor Motion Picture WE ARE FAMILY (CHOOK JO GA YUN). Would she
offer her service to directors on hand? She of course would like to
meet the elders, even if they would not offer her movie roles, they
could still ask her to write songs or sing theme songs. She said that
she would like to challenge the mistress role the most. She has never
been a third wheel, but 10 years ago a third party entering her
relationship. At the time she was very heartbroken, but still
struggled to save the relationship. "Now I definitely wouldn't, after
the trauma from then. However it was a relationship experience,
fortunately in recent years I haven't run into anything like this
again."
<br /><br />Choi Cheuk Yin ran into her kindergarten classmate Rosa
Velasco (Wai Law Sa). They caught up for a little bit and took the
chance to pose for photos. The Best Supporting Actress nominee Rosa
was much thinner. She said that she lost weight for the award show.
"I have to prepare for what I would wear at the Hong Kong Film awards,
so in a month I lost 10 pounds and finally saw my waist. Even my
husband has been motivated to lose weight after seeing me. Earlier
I was busy with my daughter and didn't put a lot of time on work. Now
she has started school, and recently I switched to a new company, so
I hope to have even more and different development."
<br /><br />Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun's 2017 promotional film was uncovered
earlier and some said that both appearance and how he dressed were
different from his current handsome look. Some online felt that
what he wore and his hair were the problems. Later he on social
media posted his fat photo and skin reaction photo in contrast. He
wrote that since childhood his genes tended to make him obese. He had
to watch what he ate and exercise to be able to stay in shape.
<br /><br />Jeffrey said that he did not mind the comments, but saw that
everyone got more excited the more they talked so he told the truth.
He remained positive all along.

The Michelle Wai Sze Nga host online food program
two nights ago went online. This episode the invited guest was
someone who had a "little misunderstanding" with Michelle earlier,
Nancy Sit Ka Yin. Out of sincerity, Michelle asked Sister Ka Yin to
dine and "settle their differences".
<br /><br />Earlier Sister Ka Yin mistook Michelle for Carlos Chan Ka Lok's
wife Shiga Lin. When they took a photo together she even congratulated
her on her pregnancy, which had everyone rolling on the floor. As soon
as this episode began, Michelle pretended to look serious and stared at
Sister Ka Yin. "Earlier we had a little misunderstanding." Sister Ka
Yin immediately congratulated Michelle again. "Wai Sze Nga,
congratulations on your Best Actress nomination, haha." Michelle
immediately grabbed Sister Ka Yin's hands and kissed them. "Thank you,
Sister Ka Yin." Sister Ka Yin recalled, "Oops! It's really
embarrassing, I even touched your belly." They proceeded to crack up.

The film WE ARE FAMILY (CHOOK JO GA YUN) two nights ago
held a charity screening. Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Tian Niu, Catherine
Chau Ka Yi, Alex Fong Lik Sun, Stephanie Che Yuen Yuen, director Benny
Lau Wai Hang and star volunteer Lai Lok Yi attended. The charity
screening welcomed 400 donors and raised HK$ 400,000 for the Caring for
Children Foundation. Chi Wai joked that if the film's box office
would reach HK$ 50 million he would "streak".
<br /><br />WE ARE FAMILY charity screening raised HK$ 400,000. Tsang Chi
Wai said that he was very happy and had to thank each donor for the
support. Since the film would open soon, both Chi Wai and Tian Niu
had expectations; because this film was not purely a comedy, but one
that would bring out positive energy. Their performance has always
made viewers cry before. Tian Niu said, "I too saw viewers cry very
hard, but I cried harder than everyone!" Chi Wai said, "I wanted to
cry myself, but seeing how hard she was crying next to me, I just
wouldn't cry yet!" Tian Niu also pointed out that actually this
movie was neither a big production nor had superstars, but all the
actors worked as one to make it. It was a family movie that would be
worth recommending.
<br /><br />How would they thank the audience if the movie would have big
box office success? Chi Wai joked that he would "streak". "I would
bare my heart to run. This movie really is worth a watch, many
friends who have seen it have called me to say it really was worth
watching. I too hope to spread more positive energy, the movie's theme
happened to remind everyone to be a little better to their families,
and cherish time!" Tian Niu said that in the future she would stay in
Hong Kong for audience appreciation events until the box office would
reach HK$ 50 million. Chi Wai joked, "If it would reach HK$ 50
million, I would streak, no problem!"

Louis Cheung Kai Chung and his wife Kay Tse On Kay
have been married for years but still as loving as ever. Just
celebrated her 47th birthday, Tse On Kay received a serenade when her
husband played the guitar and sang with their daughter. A smoker of
many years, Cheung Kai Chung even revealed that he would quit smoking
as a birthday gift for her.
<br /><br />Cheung Kai Chung and his wife Tse On Kay yesterday brought
their daughter Cheung Ching (Kakaball) to an event. Cheung Kai Chung
revealed that this was their first public event as a family of three.
He said that normally events would invite their entire family, but
their older sons disliked on screen work and thus they would respect
and protect him. "However our daughter is a little different, she
likes to perform." Cheung Kai Chung even revealed that elders would
remind him to carefully handle the related jobs to keep pressure from
his child. He pointed out that if his daughter in the future would not
like to be on screen he would have no problem. He said that in his
adolescence he too left on screen work.
<br /><br />Nominated for the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress for the
film BAND FOUR (4 PAK 4 GA JOOK), Kay said that she felt normal about
the award. "Let it to fate. The other nominees are my good friends.
Many people used to say actors would have a generation gap, but looking
at this year's Best Actress nominations and the actresses of many
different ages, I would have the chance to build up the good characters
I would play. I am already very happy like this, it's a very healthy
phenomenon."hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-76960627163027525982024-03-15T20:52:00.000-07:002024-03-15T20:52:26.044-07:00[2024.03.15] KEUNG TO IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE IN MIRROR'S MOVIE<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; of detail. So the production team got 12 doubles, each with a name
tag. They would perform once to test the marks before we took them.
The final fight scene was very exciting. I have never shot such a
long fight scene, it was 3 or 4 minutes long."
<br /><br />Anson Lo had the most fights. He said, "Because in the film I
was the most agile, but the final 3 or 4 shots I kicked too high and
accidentally injured the tendon. Luckily I recovered very quickly."
Captain Lokman who also had to kick gave a "display of power", as he
actually kicked through the wall. "We had a set constructed for the
shoot, the wall after a few kicks were fine; but by the third kick
'bang' it had a hole. After it was fixed the next day Frankie (Chan
Shui Fai) kicked through it again. The director could only replace
another piece of wood."
<br /><br />Keung To played a hypnotist, what skills did he have? He
joked, "I was the comfortable. Because agility wise I am not as
stronger as the others, so I had a very simple gesture to hypnotize
people. The director got a hypnotist to teach me." With the ability
to communicate with animals, AK and the eavesdropping expert Stanley
had many scenes with dogs. They said that the production was
smoother than they imagined. AK said, "Before hand I worried that
working with dogs would affect the progress, but it was rather
smooth. Because trainers were on the set and the dogs' masters
were there, they gave good commands so the shoot went very smoothly."
<br /><br />Tiger (Yau Ngo Yin) had to move all around his co-stars. He
said that lightly he was light enough, otherwise the stunt team that
was holding him up would have a very tough time; responsible for
"disguise" Jer (Lau Ying Ting) said, "I wore a wig to pretend to be a
reporter and interview the professor. Even the director who was next
to me couldn't tell. I even played a chef and other roles, it was a
lot of fun." Ian (Chan Cheuk Yin) was the mastermind, which member
was the hardest to control? Ian said that no one was able to control
them, because when working together their schedules were very hard to
accommodate. MIRROR hoped that the box office would be able to reach
HK$ 30 million, then they would go live to thank the MIRROR fans. Edan
was afraid of being chased to "pay the bill" by the audience and did
not dare to say boast about giving away benefit for WE 12 box office
success. He only said, "I would be very happy then." Other members
declined and pushed, as none would dare to talk casually about
benefit. Jeremy Lee Chun Kit casually said, "Then we will sing."
When told that was not innovative, he joked, "We get Mr. Lo (boss Lo
Ting Fai) to dance, because he gets the most benefit." Lokman said
that a sequel or a spin off would be the best, they could go overseas
and shoot like in Europe and other places.hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-51010625343773577902024-03-15T20:51:00.000-07:002024-03-15T20:51:32.870-07:00[2024.03.15] CHARLENE CHOI WORRIES ABOUT YET ANOTHER FILM DELAY <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240315/photo/0315-00282-061b1.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="556" data-original-width="780" height="228" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240315/photo/0315-00282-061b1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Charlene Choi has her first sweet taste of fitness, now she would keep it up to stay in shape</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240315/photo/0315-00282-061b2.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="533" height="320" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240315/photo/0315-00282-061b2.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Dew flashes his trademark smile</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240315/photo/0315-00282-061b3.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="533" height="320" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240315/photo/0315-00282-061b3.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Minho<br />courtesy of on.cc</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/d4a2887b3c20db15d348134ed7f78a06/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/14/25660/i_src_273555397.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="533" height="320" src="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/d4a2887b3c20db15d348134ed7f78a06/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/14/25660/i_src_273555397.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">courtesy of singtao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br />

The film FLY ME TO THE MOON (DAN YUEN YUN CHEUNG GAU)'s
producer Stanley Kwan Kam Peng and director Sasha Chuk Chi Ngan, and
DUST TO DUST (DAI BAK GOR YIM YI YUN)'s producer Soi Cheang Pou Soi
and director Jonathan Li Tsz Chung yesterday attended a Hong Kong
International Film and Television Market forum to share their
experience.
<br /><br />Starting in the business in the 70s, Kwan Kam Peng said that
that was the era of film. After graduating from TVB training class he
joined the film division as a production assistant and an assistant
screenwriter. Then he became the assistant film director and learned
from many big directors. He admitted that now the film climate has
changed a lot. He even felt that he had to be grateful to be able to
experience the 80s and the 80s full bloom for film, when resources
were ample; now the financing sources for new directors would very
likely be from government assistance. Actually the government has
provided a lot of financing. Kwan Kam Peng also pointed out that in
recent years many films were able to be promoted overseas, like ALL
SHALL BE WELL (CHUNG GUM YI HAU) after winning the Teddy Award at the
Berlin Film Festival returning to Hong Kong to be its film festival
opening film. However many channels would be required in the middle.
<br /><br />Kwan Kam Peng was asked why he would be willing to be the
producer to new directors? He pointed out that earlier he produced
Vicki Zhao Wei's film SO YOUNG because the story moved him. He agreed
to produce director Sasha Chuk Chi Ngan's FLY ME TO THE MOON (DAN YUEN
YUN CHEUNG GAU) because he appreciated her short films. Kwan Km Peng
said that the producer should always stand on the director's side and
provide suggestions, including character entrances and exits, and
interaction between characters so they would easily leave an impression
with the audience. However he would only make suggestions to the
directors and not demand them to follow his ideas. He hoped that the
government would promote new directors' films even further, bring more
attention to them so new directors would not become an "one film
director".
<br /><br />As a new generation director Li Tsz Chun also agreed that
sometimes investors would provide casting suggestions, but if he did
not feel any feeling, how could they work together? This time
would be for the producer to "block". He also had to ask the
producer some questions. When he made DUST TO DUST (DAI BAK GOR YIM
YI YUN), producer Soi Cheang Pou Soi helped him a lot. Starting in
the film industry at age 19, Cheang Pou Soi after 33 years has
already produced new directors' movies 5 times. He humbly said that
he could not claim to have any advice, but he would tell himself that
the director was the most important. He would try not to start from
his own angle, but standing on the director's side to make suggestions.
<br /><br />In addition, the host said that Kwan Kam Peng has been
described as the industry soul adjuster. Kwan Kam Peng joked that he
did not know how this title came about, perhaps when he made movies
he had coordination from Chow Yun Fat, Cherie Chung Chor Hung, Maggie
Cheung Man Yuk and others. With Tony Leung Chiu Wai they would not
only discuss characters but also personal affair. He felt that
artists and workers both had to have sincere and honest communication,
and establish trust, but he never thought about wanting to be a soul
adjuster. He only felt that all of these were very important to being
either the director or the producer.hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-90849700357384667452024-03-14T05:03:00.000-07:002024-03-14T05:04:09.006-07:00[2024.03.14] GEORGE@P1X3L GETS ACTING ADVICE FROM ANTHONY WONG<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/0fd415da5717128a5c7abc5fe35456af/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/13/25306/i_src_232543588.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="533" height="320" src="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/0fd415da5717128a5c7abc5fe35456af/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/13/25306/i_src_232543588.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">George in a buzz cut is completely different from his P1X3L image, full of freshness<br />courtesy of singtao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br />
The Federation of the Hong Kong Filmmakers released
first season of "Keep Rolling Keep Running" project's second selection
THE SIN OF UNFORGIVENESS (BUT SEH JI JUI) earlier started production.
Producer Jacqueline Liu Yuen Hung, Director Lam Sin, director and
screen writer Tam Sin Yeung, actors Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Louisa So
Yuk Wa, George Au Chun King @ P1X3L, Summer Chan Chi Huen and Sheena
Chan Shu Yan attended the production start ceremony. The film's story
revolved around three characters, including the Chau Sun played
preacher, the So Yuk Wa played victim's mother, and the George played
young rape inmate. The actors all commended the outstanding script.
<br /><br />Making his silver screen debut, George was of course nervous in
front of the elders. "In the past half year I have watched many
different movies and absorbed how to perform. When I thought about
making it happen I realized, hey, that's not right. Because Brother

Yin, Fung So Bo, Amy Lo Wai Man gathered to introduce their film
and shared their production experience. Then the under preparation
YUK YI YUT GEI (PRISON CHILD DIARY) producer Angus Chan Law Chiu,
director Yip Ching Hang and star Hedwig Tam Sin Yin introduced the
project. The upcoming release WISH COMES TRUE (BA HUNG FOOK LAI KUN
YUT DIM)'s director Ling Chi Man, actor Ling Man
Lung and Ken Law Ho Ming, producer Tony Leung Hung Wah and Terence Lam
(Yeung Hong) shared their experience on the stage.
<br /><br />Best Actor Simon Yam Tat Wa yesterday led his
"children" Stephy Tang Lai Yan and Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun to promote
the film. Yam Tat Wa revealed that he had to put up his own money
while making the movie, and also pointed out Jeffrey was the most
mischievous. He even became strict father possessed on the spot,
ordering Jeffrey to stop moving. Even Stephy thought he bugged her,
stating that she really wanted to beat the "little brother"!
<br /><br />Yam Tat Wa and Stephy talked about their experience on the
film LITTLE RED SWEET and agreed that their co-star Jeffrey was
mischievous and noisy, on and off screen they wanted to discipline
him with a beating! "However it was a lot of fun. We really were
sweetly mixed together like the red bean soup, which was a little
rough too. With him we would have a lot of fresh things and love
stories, I really treated him like my son." Brother Wa has a daughter
himself, now with a son he joked that his daughter needed to be
spoiled. Jeffrey answered, "Sons are for beating!" Brother Wa said
that he could not hit the son either. In the film he played a
traditional man, so he would spoil the son more than the daughter.
He praised Jeffrey for being able to sing, act
and have star potential. While everyone has been looking for young
directors they should also pay attention to young actors. After
praising Jeffrey he urged him not to call people old. Jeffrey
immediately moved around and kissed up, "You are 18 every year!"
During the interview, Jeffrey kept moving around.
Yam Tat Wa suddenly became strict father possessed, "Would you stop
shaking already?" Jeffrey immediately sat still. Then Yam Tat Wa
lectured, "He is very loud, I can't quietly draw or listen to songs
even if I want to. What a bother!" After that they were locked in
an embrace.
<br /><br />Yam Tat Wa also joked, "This time the salary was very low, I
even had to treat the team out of my own pocket. For half a month,
the three of us treated everyday." They pointed out that eating
red bean soup and butter pineapple buns everyday made them much
fatter. Stephy just happened to want to look a little fatter on
camera. Jeffrey thanked Yam Tat Wa for his teachings and praised
Stephy for being friendly, but he stated that they had an age gap.
Stephy immediately pretended to get mad.
<br /><br />In addition, Hedwig Tam Sin Yin in the film YUK YI YUT GEI
(PRISON CHILD DIARY) played a prisoner who gave birth in prison.
She said that when she read the script she was already very touched.
It would be her first prison film, thus before production began he
kept watching prison movies. Earlier when she made FU DUK BUT
(VICIOUS TIGERS DON'T) she also played Mama. She joked that she has
already entered the age of playing Mama roles. "I am just 30
something, but I seem to have already entered the stage of playing
Mommy roles. However this would be my first prison film and prisoner
role, I would even have to give birth to a chld in prison and raised
it to age 3."
<br /><br />Ling Man Lung in the film WISH COMES TRUE (BA HUNG FOOK LAI
KUN YUT DIM) played a "Kennedy disease" patient that
was based on a true story. He revealed that before the shoot he spent
a few days with the ALS patient and tried to use a wheel chair, and he realized
that crossing the street was highly difficult. "In the wheel chair I
finally realized crossing the street would be highly difficult.
Having to step over a crib was an enormous challenge. I really had
the feeling of helplessness." In the film Malaysian
goddess Lin Minchen would play his masseuse. He joked that
because Lin Minchen had professional massage therapist's guidance,
the massage she gave him was very comfortable. He joked that at first
he thought he would have the most physical contact with her, but
actually big guy Law Ho Ming, who played his nurse and driver, embraced
him the most. "At first I thought I would be able to hug Lin Minchen,
but actually it was big guy Law Ho Ming. He was already able to pick
me up with one arm!"hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-67784823185270172002024-03-12T22:00:00.001-07:002024-03-12T22:00:00.149-07:00[2024.03.13] FOR THE WEEK ENDING MARCH 10 2024For The week ending March 10 2024<br />

To celebrate the 100th birthday of the author of "Kitaro", Shigeru
Mizuki, the past of Kitaro's father will be revealed!<br />
<br />
When Kitaro and Eyeball Dad enter the abandoned village named
Nagura, Eyeball Dad recalls an event that took place 70 years ago.
In 1956, Nagura Village was under the control of the powerful Ryoga
clan, which secretly manipulated the nation's politics and finances.
Mizuki, an employee of a blood bank, carried a secret mission as he
mourned the death of the clan’s leader, Tokisada. Meanwhile,
Kitaro's father also entered the village in search of his wife.
They soon discovered that a bitter struggle for the position of
Tokisada's successor had begun within the Ryoga clan. Amidst this
turmoil, a member of the clan was brutally murdered at the village
shrine. This marked the beginning of a horrifying chain of
supernatural events.

Nicholas Tse Ting Fung earlier returned to Hong
Kong for several days, after guest performing at a concert he left
Hong Kong yesterday. However before leaving he took some time out to
appear at the Convention Center in Wanchai, patrolled the Emperor
Motion Pictures film and television booth and "supervised" his new
films CUSTOMS FRONTLINE (HOI GUAN JIN SIN) and RAGING HAVOC
(NO FOR MAN YIN) poster light boxes situation. Many filmmakers
were drawn to look on.
<br /><br />Yesterday footage of Ting Fung's visit was released. He got
his hands "dirty" as he moved tables and chairs, then helped to put
the poster into the light box. He also picked up a duster to brush
the dust off the poster. He joked, "Let me wash Brother Hok Yau
(Jacky Cheung)'s face......nowadays being an actor really isn't easy
at all. You have to do everything yourself!" BLAZE's poster was
hung at an eye catching spot. On it Ting Fung showed off his chest
with a heavy firearm in his hand and a vicious look in his eyes.
<br /><br />Reportedly, RAGING was originally scheduled to wrap up its
production in December last year, but as action director Ting Fung
and the team were highly demanding of this action scene. Thus the
wrap was delayed until before the Lunar New Year, with several dramatic
scenes left for make up shoots at the end of the month. The team
would enter post production within the month and the initial estimate
for release would be the end of the year. As for CUSTOM it has already
been scheduled for a middle of the year release. Ting Fung's
"directing debut" film NEW POLICE STORY 2 (SUN GAING CHAT GOO SI 2)
currently has already begun the pre production stage and would be able
to begin official shoot in several months. This would also be his
reunion with the NEW cast and crew after 20 years. hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-7493095608223800412024-03-12T08:31:00.000-07:002024-03-13T20:10:02.714-07:00[2024.03.12] SANDRA NG ADMITS MC CHEUNG'S CHARM IS HARD TO TAKE<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240312/s00008/db8c3e904ce94fc5ae60784d559d1d31.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="531" height="320" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240312/s00008/db8c3e904ce94fc5ae60784d559d1d31.jpg" width="212" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sandra Ng praises co-star MC Cheung as handsome and charming</td></tr></tbody></table><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240312/s00008/8c27ded35337429d82b7edf098df1a7f.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="534" data-original-width="800" height="214" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240312/s00008/8c27ded35337429d82b7edf098df1a7f.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yau Hawk Sau and Chung Suet Ying learn sign language to play the hearing impaired<br />courtesy of mingpao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br />

Art March 2024's major event, the "Hong Kong
Entertainment Expo" began yesterday with a launch ceremony. Leon Lai
Ming would repeat as the promotional ambassador this year. The 28th
Hong Kong International Film and Television Market (FILMART) as a
part of the Hong Kong Entertainment Expo would take place between the
11th and 14th. This year around 750 global exhibitors would form over
30 regional exhibition halls to present their latest work and even
set up the first virtual production workshop.
<br /><br />Yesterday at the FILMART many different large and small film
and television groups held press conferences. Media Asia group and
Ali Dai Culture and Entertainment Group held strategic partnership
announcement press conference.
<br /><br />Heavyweight project TWLIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU
LUNG SING JAI WAI SING) producer John Chong Ching, director Soi
Cheang Pou Soi led the stars to the appearance. Chong Ching said that
the film spent 8 years in preparation, becoming a film was very
surprising. The director made it very stylishly as a different Lam
Fung appeared. Cheang Pou Soi said that what moved him the most was
that the Walled City was a very legendary place. He also hoped to be
able to capture the 80's Hong Kong. In the trailer, many actors had
action scenes galore. Louis Koo Tin Lok's character was called
"Tornado". When the host asked how he prepared for the role, he joked,
"I watched more news and weather reports, then I know how tornadoes
are." The host followed, "Your character probably really likes to tell
bad jokes." Director Cheang Pou Soi said, "You nailed it." The entire
audience cracked up. Yam Yin Chai joked that the director swindled him
because he was told playing the "big boss" would not require action,
but during the actual shoot he was arranged to fight against young
actors. However this film was full of nostalgia, everyone put their
lives on the line for the shoot in order to give their all to make a
good movies for everyone to enjoy. Lam Fung explained that his
character was someone without any root or home, he went to the Kowloon
Walled City to escape trouble, ran into people around all facets of
life but developed feelings for them. In a show of humanity's
realest side, he went into the struggle with them.
<br /><br />Media Asia and Ali Dai's collaboration introduced many new
films including Nick Cheuk Yik Him's BORN EVIL (SAM SAT), Fung
Chih Chiang's THE OTHER ONE (SHOOK DIK YAU HEI) and David Lee Kwong
Yiu's BEHIND THE SCENE (MO MING DING TAI). BEHIND's producer Andrew
Lau Wai Keung said, "I
want to pass the torch. The company wants to find young directors.
If it would find those with ideas of course t would agree right away.
Back then when I asked Mr. Lam (Peter Lam Kin Ngok) to make INFERNAL
AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH), no one was willing to make it. Mr. Lam agreed
right away. So this time I too agreed right away." Zhang Yimou's
daughter Zhang Mo would direct the film DUN DOR LAI MING (WAITING FOR
DAWN).hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-45939860155270319922024-03-11T09:48:00.000-07:002024-03-11T21:34:06.457-07:00[2024.03.11] 17TH ASIAN FILM AWARDS<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; The 17th Asian Film Awards took place last night at the
West Kowloon Cultural District's Xiqu Centre. This year's guests
included internationally renowned filmmakers Zhang Yimou, Zhao Liying,
Lee Young-Ae, Ryohei Suzuki and others who came to Hong Kong to
accept their awards. Finally Japanese star Koj Yakusho with PERFECT
DAYS won Best Actor, while mainland actress Jiang Qiqi with DWELLING
BY THE WEST LAKE won Best Actress.
<br /><br />Japanese artist Koji Yakusho with the film PERFECT DAYS won
Best Actor. He was not present so a representative accepted it on
his behalf.
<br /><br />Mainland star Jiang Qiqi with DWELLING BY THE WEST LAKE won
Best Actress. When she accepted the award hot tears streamed down her
face. "I truly never thought, I didn't prepare. I am very touched,
thank you everyone. Thank you Director Gu Xiaogang, it wasn't easy
for him." Gu Xiaogang was also in tears in the audience. Jiang
Qinqin continued, "Thank you very much to the work partners on and off
camera. I also thank film for giving me strength, and understanding
of the world, life and myself." She even gave special thanks to her
husband Chen Jianbin, because he has always supported her. Chen
Jianbin blew a kiss to his wife in the audience.
<br /><br />As for Best Film, Japanese film EVIL DOES NOT EXIST won; Best
Director went to Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda for the film
MONSTER.
<br /><br />Mainland director Zhang Yimou received the Lifetime Achievement
Award. His film FULL RIVER RED also won the 2023 Highest grossing
Asian Film Award. Zhang Yimou said after accepting this awards. "This
is a heavy award. Looking back now, I didn't start too early. I went to
the Beijing Film Academy at age 28. At 38 I directed my first film.
Then I have been on the road of liking film, on the road of making
film. Film has made my dream. Today, many excellent Asian filmmakers
are here because they are also on the road of chasing our dream.
Everyone has a film dream, making movies is very hard, making a movie
that people would remember is even harder. Asian film today serves an
important purpose in the world. Many Asian filmmakers are chasing
dreams, telling Asian stories to the whole world. I hope that this
award today isn't a end, but a beginning. We shall chase our dream
together, we shall keep working hard, and telling our Asian stories to
the whole world!"
<br /><br />Korean film star Lee Young-Ae and Japanese star Ryohei Suzuki
both received the Excellence in Asian Cinema Award. Lee Young-Ae
after accepting the awards greeted everyone in Putonghua with "How
are you" then gave her speech in English and thanked everyone in
Korean. Lee Young-Ae spoke to the media later. She said that she felt
very happy to receive the Excellence in Asian Cinema Award, because
she has been in the business for a long time and made many movies for
everyone to see. Speaking of reprising DAE JANGGEUM after 20 years,
she said that the series has yet to start production. She knew that
everyone has been looking forward to it, but they should not be
inpatient. She hoped to show everyone an even better face, so she
would have to spend even more time on preparation. She wanted to work
hard on her acting again as well.
<br /><br />Mainland star Zhao Liying won the AFA Next Generation Award.
She said, "To be able to have the opportunity to participate in an
event with so many excellent filmmakers, I want to thank the Asian
also for giving me this honor. It would give me even more motivation
to properly make movies, properly perform, to be able to join even
more good film teams. At the same time I am very honored to be able
to see so many filmmakers, for everyone to get to know me. I love
film, I love performing, I am actress Zhao Liying, thank you very
much." In the interview later she said that she was rather emotional
to receive the "AFA Next Generation Award", because she saw so many
excellent elders. In the future she would have the opportunity to
try even more possibilities, like recently in the film ARTICLE 20 she
broke through her image and gave the audience something fresh; in the
film she also gained a lot, like coming to the Asian Film Awards this
time. She believed it was a good start!
<br /><br />"Best Screenplay" went to the SNOW LEOPARD's Pema Tseden, who
passed away last year. His son Jigme Trinley accepted the award on his
behalf.
<br /><br />In addition, Hong Kong actress Rachel Leung Yung Ting with IN
BROAD DAYLIGHT (BAK YUT TIN HA) won Best Supporting Actress; Nick
Cheuk Yik Him with TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI) won
Best New Director.
<br /><br />After Leung Yung Ting reached the stage and excitedly embraced
guest presenter Angela Yuen Lai Lam but accidentally knocked over the
microphone stand. She said, "Sorry, I am a little clumsy. I am very
happy. Thank you to the film team and each co-star, as well as my
family and boyfriend for their support. They are here too." Her
co-star Jennifer Yu Heung Ying was moved to tears.
<br /><br />Earlier on the red carpet, Best Actor nominee Tony Leung Chiu
Wai and Carina Lau Ka Ling held hands for the grand finale. Wai Jai
said that his European new film has yet to start production, but he
estimated that next month he would take off for preparation. Ka Ling
would keep him company for awhile then as well, so they probably
would not be able to participate in the Hong Kong Film Awards.
<br /><br />Invited to be this year's Asian Film Awards youth ambassador,
Thai actor Mario Maurer, Hong Kong actor Will Or Wai Lam, Taiwan
actor Liu Kuan-Ting and Japanese actor Hio Miyazawa yesterday morning
appeared at an event and introduced themselves in English. Or Wai
Lam mischievously taught Liu Kuan-Ting to say in Cantonese, "I am Lau
Koon Ting, very handsome!" Hio Miyazawa revealed
that this was already the third time he came to Hong Kong. Mario
even came to work on a movie in Hong Kong. He hoped to have a chance
to work with famous Hong Kong actors. His favorite was Andy Lau Tak
Wa and he looked forward to the opportunity to collaborate. The host
mentioned that Liu Kuan-Ting would soon become a father. Liu Koon
Tin said after receiving everyone's applause, "Thank you everyone, I
feel very honored to be able to be the youth ambassador. I hope
everyone would get to know Taiwan film more." Liu Kuan-Ting pointed out that
earlier while shooting a movie in Malaysia, he saw Hong Kong star
Louis Koo Tin Lok and got very nervous. "I grew up watching Hong
Kong films, in the past I only saw Koo Tin Lok on the screen. This
time I was able to see him on the set, the feeling was very memorable
and I was very nervous." Or Wai Lam said that he wanted to take the
other actors to visit the Kennedy Town cinema. He just finished two
Taiwan films.
<br /><br />The 17th Asian Film Awards yesterday arranged for nominated
actors and directors to attend an event. 12 year old Golden Horse
Award Best Actress Audrey Lin with TROUBLE GIRL was nominated for
Best Actress. "I am happy and honored to be able to be nominated with
elders, it's been like a dream." In the film she and Terrance Lau Chun
Him relied more on eye interaction because they were unable to speak
too much. Director Jin Jia-Hua said that he chose Lau Chun Him to be
the lead actor because he discovered that his sunny appearance also
had a dark side. Audrey Lin wanted to work with Cecilia Choi Sze Wan,
knowing that she was Lau Chun Him's girlfriend.
Golden Horse Best Actor Wu Kang-Ren with his ABANG ADIK
co-star Jack Tan and director Jin Ong appeared. The former said that
that he was in the Best Actor race for participation. He also
claimed to be a little fan, feeling excited to see stars from all over.
He has already prepared his mobile phone to "collect stamps". Would
Jin Ong make a sequel with the original team. He asked Wu Kang-Ren,
"Would you be willing?" Wu Kang-Ren joked, "I was done! Maybe if we
were an alternative ghost film."
<br /><br />Malaysian director Chong Kea Aun said that the biggest
difficult of making SNOW IN MIDSUMMER was inviting actors. Due to the
sensitive subject, many actors did not dare to perform. "The movie
has yet to be released in Malaysia. It is still waiting for
inspection. I hope next month after its Hong Kong International Film
Festival release to fight for the Malaysia release." SNOW IN
MIDSUMMER lead actress Wan Fang was a Taiwan artist. She said that
playing the role, she was the most worried about the language and
cultural differences. The director moved her into participating.
From the character she saw shades of many Taiwan women. She hoped
tot be able display what was inside them. She too wanted to make
Hong Kong films.
<br /><br />Thai star Metawin Opas-iamkajorn (Win) received the 17th Asian
Film Awards "Rising Star award". Yesterday he spoke to the media and
said that he ws very nervous and honored to receive the award. Last
year he spent over a month in Hong Kong to shoot the film UNDER
PARALLEL SKIES, which would hold its premiere soon. He said that he
still has not enjoyed the film in its entirety, but he looked forward
to being able to watch his performance with the entire audience very
much. The location shoot was memorable for him because he went to
Peng Chau numerous times. Normally when he came to Hong Kong he
very rarely would go to the island. He even went to Kowloon City to
try the local delicacies.hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-25675416347705055852024-03-10T19:58:00.000-07:002024-03-10T20:04:52.380-07:00[2024.03.10] RON NG LONGS TO BE PROMOTED TO HIGH RANKS<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240310/photo/0310-00282-046b1.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="556" data-original-width="780" height="228" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240310/photo/0310-00282-046b1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Ron Ng waves to the fans<br />courtesy of on.cc</td></tr></tbody></table><br />
Ron Ng Cheuk Hei recently visited Malaysia to promote
his film DELIVERANCE (YUEN SUN JUI). He began as soon as he landed
in his first stop Kuala Lumpur. He has always been popular there,
attracting many die hard fans to the events to show their support.
Despite minor chaos, he tried to meet everyone's requests with
handshakes, autographs and photos.
<br /><br />Later he and the film team appeared on the premiere red
carpet and drew several thousand fans to surround the venue. Although
the event already had security, Ng Cheuk Hei still had difficulty
taking a step due to how crowded it was. At the event, he pointed out
that this time he worked with elder Simon Yam Tat Wa and greatly
benefit. "I watched how he studied the script, discussed the
performance with the director on the set. Actors need to create
and consider every line of the dialogue." As for being called the
"official law enforcer", he joked, "I would never say retirement, but
I hope to be 'promoted' soon to play high ranks, haha!" <p></p>hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-3734279898944613682024-03-09T01:17:00.000-08:002024-03-09T01:17:45.684-08:00[2024.03.09] LI LINLIN WANTS HER WHOLE FAMILY IN A MOVIE<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240309/photo/0309-00282-063b1.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="556" data-original-width="780" height="228" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240309/photo/0309-00282-063b1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">courtesy of on.cc</td></tr></tbody></table><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/0f89cfcea0a273c495a16f0ae332cb45/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/08/23587/i_src_021093354.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="532" height="320" src="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/0f89cfcea0a273c495a16f0ae332cb45/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/08/23587/i_src_021093354.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Karen Lam has so many ceramics exhibits that people thinks she has changed jobs<br />courtesy of singtao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240309/s00008/d0e7523b74e04bd1853cfbc04eb08bb9.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="533" data-original-width="800" height="213" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240309/s00008/d0e7523b74e04bd1853cfbc04eb08bb9.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Li Linlin, direct Ray Yeung, Patra Au attend the Hong Kong International Film Festival press conference</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240309/s00008/2840a8fb8bc544f38836a58ebfc3ed8d.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="533" height="320" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240309/s00008/2840a8fb8bc544f38836a58ebfc3ed8d.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Karena Lam has been invited to be the Film Festival ambassador</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240309/s00008/5005302f0f0241adbad9d91a7725481f.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="451" height="320" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240309/s00008/5005302f0f0241adbad9d91a7725481f.jpg" width="180" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Fruit Chan says new directors have many genres to choose from<br />courtesy of mingpao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br />
The 48th Hong Kong International Film Festival would
take place between March 28th and April 8th, over 190 films from 62
nations and regions would be screened over 12 days. They would include
5 world premieres, 6 international premieres and 64 Asian premieres.
Yesterday at the press conference, the film festival ambassador Karena
Lam Ka Yan, the filmmaker in focus Fruit Chan Gor, ALL SHALL BE WELL
director Ray Yeung Yiu Hoi, actresses
Patra Au Ka Man and Li Linlin (Lee Lam Lam), LOVE LIES (NGOR TAM DIK NA
CHEUNG LUEN OI) director Ho Miu-ki, producer Chan Hing Ka, one of the
FRESH OFF MARKHAM (BAI JAU MAK SING) directors Trevor Choi Hong Ying,
actor Jessica Chan Yi Chun and other attended in support.
<br /><br />The Hong Kong International Film Festival Association chair
Wilfred Wong Ying Wai at the press conference announced that this year's
opening film would be the Au Ka Man and Lee Lam Lam starred ALL
SHALL BE WELL (CHUNG GUM YI HAU), which just won the Teddy Award at
the Berlin Film Festival; the closing film would Japanese director
Sho Miyake directed, Hokuto Matsumura and Mone Kamishiraishi starred
ALL THE LONG NIGHTS.
<br /><br />Lee Lam Lam has retired from film for over 30 years. Her film
ALL SHALL BE WELL earlier won the Berlin Film Festival Teddy Award.
Lee Lam Lam said that she did not get to accept the award in person
because she did not feel well at the time. She did not want to be an
added burden for everyone to take care of her. Returning to film this
time, she described herself as "an old bottle opened anew". She was
motivated because the genre felt made her innovative and encouraged.
The film was able to bring up some questions for the audience to
examine, then look for resolutions. She also said that after the
shoot she fell for Au Ka Man and constantly thought of her. She said
that Au Ka Man was a silly girl; when they got to the last scene
she could not stop crying, which gave her quite a heartache. Would her
acting bug act up again? She said that she did not
dare to 100% confirm whether she would make another movie or not, as
it would depend on the script, the director and the sincerity. "ALL's
team made me very focused, and sensed an enormous passion." Speaking
of her son John Chiang Jr. (Chiang Cheuk Man) wanting to work with her,
could she perform as a family of three with husband John Chiang Dai
Wai? Lee Lam Lam said, "Good suggestion, let's see
the boss, the producers would consider it after hearing that."
<br /><br />Speaking of her late friend Lee Ying passing soon after
suffering a fall, her funeral has just taken place in Vancouver. Lee
Lam Lam said that they would see each other once in awhile and
constantly texted each other. "I can't accept what happened. Her
health was always great and she was optimistic, but this time was
a gentle remind for people in our age to learn to take care of
ourselves and be careful. Her passing actually could be joyous,
as she no longer had to suffer from pain and illness. Of course it
would be hard for her family to accept, because it was very sudden.
Even friends like us couldn't accept it, feeling, 'stop messing
around'; but this unhappy news was real!"
<br /><br />Lam Ka Yan revealed that during the Lunar New Year she
finished a Taiwan film. In the middle of the year she would hold a
ceramics exhibit in Taiwan. At the end of the year she would make an
overseas film production. Last year she worked on Lin Shu-yu's
English language film debut WORTH THE WAIT. Her first all
English production felt fresh because the performance pace and
format would be different. The film would be released at the end of
the year on streaming platforms. She said that many people thought
she has switched jobs to ceramics, but actually she has been making
movies all along. They just have not been released yet.
<br /><br />Fruit Chan Gor was asked about his expectation of new
directors. He said, "Now new directors have more opportunities, they
can make documentaries, commercial films, etc. Their choices are
numerous, unlike my era when mainstream movies ruled. I hope new
directors' subjects would be diverse, the more the better." He joked
that he considered the problem of survival, he was struggling with
whether he wanted to return to mainstream movies.hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-57389675381762246642024-03-08T22:47:00.001-08:002024-03-09T05:53:52.027-08:00[2024.03.08] KAREN MOK OFFERS TO PLAY THE DEMON COACH<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/73c20a52cc7e7e3f4b8bd18d6e46231d/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/07/23194/i_src_647128317.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="453" data-original-width="680" height="213" src="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/73c20a52cc7e7e3f4b8bd18d6e46231d/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/07/23194/i_src_647128317.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Karen Mok returns to the place of origin of "Twin blade Turkey"<br /> courtesy of singtao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/d0b7bf1fd46642089b34bc0e307ed4e5.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="533" height="320" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/d0b7bf1fd46642089b34bc0e307ed4e5.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Karen Mok returns to Temple Street for an event, which brings back GOD OF COOKERY memories for her from 26 years ago</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/7b4f0db85ca14055a94296123751787a.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="800" height="320" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/7b4f0db85ca14055a94296123751787a.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Karen Mok's "Sister Turkey" in GOD OF COOKERY has become a classic character<br />courtesy of mingpao.com<br />courtesy of mingpao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br />
Karen Mok in the film GOD OF COOKERY (SIK SUN)'s
Sister Turkey image left a deep impression with the audience.
Yesterday she returned to the restaurant where the film shoot took
place in 20 years ago for a ribbon cutting ceremony. The shop was
filled from film stills and even made the special "exploding beef
balls", which brought back a lot of happy memories from the
production for her. Mok Man Wai revealed that she would work on a new
film with a mystery superstar and planned to perform an outdoors
concert in Hong Kong this year.
<br /><br />Mok Man Wai said that as soon as she arrived on Temple Street,
all her memories came flooding in. "28 years ago, I worked here
every night. When I first took my mark, no one has seen the 'Sister
Turkey' costume. I came downstairs after make up, people drove me
away saying that the shoot was taking place. They thought I was
Pedestrian A, so I was very successful. During the performance I had
a lot of confidence. Looking back at the negotiation scene here, it
really was very classic and very funny!" She also mentioned that
although the film was already 28 years ago, viewers of different
eras would continue to watch it. She felt very happy. They actually
"developed" the "exploding beef balls" from the movie, which was truly
an authentic flavor only in Hong Kong.
<br /><br />Has her husband watched her performance in GOD OF COOKERY? Mok
Man Wai said, "I thought it was amazing, but back then overseas was
still the VCD era so he didn't notice. He only saw it after we got
married."
<br /><br />Mok Man Wai last year also participated in a big production,
but had to keep it confidential. She could only revealed that the
character was one that she has never played before. She even worked
with a superstar. The film also had a lot of special effects. Would
she have to get a complete makeover like for "Sister Turkey"? She
said, "This time was very pretty, the type with quite a presence and
strength. In addition once was enough for being ugly!" Stephen Chow
Sing Chi was preparing for WOMEN'S SOCCER and reportedly has already
landed two 'real woman soccer players" in former Chinese women's
national soccer team goalie, "counterfeit Joey Wang" Zhao Lina and
current Chinese women's national soccer team member Li Jiayue. Mok
Man Wai said, "If I would perform I would play the demon coach, not
expect me to play a player. Leave the field to the young folks!"
Would she like to sing the theme song? She said that in recent years
she has been singing film or television series theme songs. As for
singing, Mok Man Wai said that this year she would plan to perform a
concert in Hong Kong. However for now she has yet to confirm the
venue. She would like to perform outdoors like at a soccer stadium
but Hong Kong lacked this type of venue.hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-50643539236911019342024-03-08T22:47:00.000-08:002024-03-08T22:47:55.394-08:00[2024.03.08] ERIC TSANG GETS TIAN NIU TO PLAY HIS WIFE<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/e820053c75e56f60eac6951ae5259d52/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/07/23191/i_src_293150864.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="533" height="320" src="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/e820053c75e56f60eac6951ae5259d52/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/07/23191/i_src_293150864.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Carlos Chan hopes to be able to go into the delivery room with his wife, but he may be away for work<br />courtesy of singtao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/490b5db0a33545358363ced75631f819.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="533" data-original-width="800" height="213" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/490b5db0a33545358363ced75631f819.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Eric Tsang says working with Tian Niu has security and chemistry</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/93578bbc29194f1b9c4dd766e054d47b.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="533" data-original-width="800" height="213" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/93578bbc29194f1b9c4dd766e054d47b.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Catherine Chau is happy for father to be Carlos Chan</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/376d93080ece45b2a8ec6464008c296f.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="533" height="320" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/376d93080ece45b2a8ec6464008c296f.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Elly and Angela Hui play a pregnant lady and Alex Fong Lik Sun's fiance respectively in WE ARE FAMILY<br />courtesy of mingpao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br />
The Eric Tsang Chi Wai produced film WE ARE FAMILY
(CHOOK JO GA YUN) two nights ago held a charity premiere. Director
Benny Lau Wai Hang, actors Tsang Chi Wai, Tian Niu, Carlos Chan Ka
Lok, Catherine Chau Ka Yi, Alex Fong Lik Sun, Angela Hui Ching Wan
and others attended in support with Emperor Group chief Dr. Albert
Yeung Sau Sing and his wife. Chi Wai stated that Tian Niu was able to
bring his acting out. Performing with her gave him a lot of
confidence. Tian Niu also felt that this time the character had
potential. When they rehearsed it was a teaming of the strong as
sparks flew.
<br /><br />Tsang Chi Wai and Tian Niu in WE played a couple. Tian Niu's
previous Hong Kong film was already A LIFETIME TREASURE (YU JU YU BO)
3 years ago. Speaking of Chi Wai inviting her to perform this time
because he was the producer, Tian Niu said, "Actually I really don't
know who invited me, I would have to thank that benefactor. However
Chi Wai and I was compatible." Chi Wai joked that he asked Tian Niu
because she could match him, in addition they have worked together
countless times before. "The first movie I played the lead in
Taiwan was with her. At the time she was beyond my reach. Later
after I became the boss and made LITTLE COP (SIU SIU SIU GAING CHAT) I
asked her to be the lead actress again. We went way back, even though
the movie ended up losing big." Chi Wai stated this time his co-star
would have to have chemistry with him, so he thought of Tian Niu
because she was able to bring his acting out. Performing with her
he would have a lot of confidence. Tian Niu accepted this role
because she felt that it had potential. Even more importantly the
film reminded everyone to cherish their family, to express their love.
Chi Wai also joked that in past movies he constantly had to "chase"
Tian Niu but could not catch her. This time they finally became a
couple. Although they have not worked together for seven or eight
years, but he felt that Tian Niu was just as pretty. She has never
been ugly. Tian Niu instead praised Chi Wai for being even more
stable and mature than before. Speaking of Chi Wai was already the
TVB general manager, Tian Niu said, "He has earned this with his hard
work!"
<br /><br />Chan Ka Lok would soon be a father. He revealed that his
wife was almost 5 months pregnant, for now he would not reveal the
gender in order to maintain the mystery. Even his parents and family
did not know whether the baby would be a boy or a girl, but he believed
that the gender would very soon be revealed. This father to be has
always been going to examinations with his wife Shiga Lin, hoping
that the baby would be healthy. "Mrs. Chan (Shiga Lin) is now very
nervous, she bought a machine to listen to the baby's heartbeat
everyday." Shiga Lin earlier revealed that he cried when he went to
the exam with her. Ka Lok awkwardly smiled and said, "The prenatal
examinations are happy, before going in the doctor already told me
that usually Papa would cry once. I told the doctor to relax and I
wouldn't cry, but I already cried at the first time, as well as the
second and the third time. The doctor said that I could cry a lot.
Finally at the fourth time I didn't cry, because I found out the
gender. I am not crying anymore!" Ka Lok wanted to go into the
delivery room with his wife and hoped to be able to shoot a video,
but he did not know his wife's wish and they have yet to discuss it.
"Ultimately I don't want to have too much pressure, the birth would
be nature. We haven't made any special 'arrangement'. I always told
my wife, from dating to marriage we haven't had a lot of time for just
the two of us. If we didn't (get pregnant) yet that would be the case,
if we did then it was Heaven's arrangement for us."
<br /><br />Ka Lok admitted that he was not mentally prepared to be Papa,
because he has never thought so far ahead. Currently he is the most
nervous about the baby's health. They would be expecting at the end of
July. During that period he would have the chance to work abroad and
not be in Hong Kong, so he has already booked a confinement nanny.
As for the child's education, he still has yet to consider this stage.
Ka Lok liked both gender, even a daughter would still be able to watch
sports with him. He would consider the difference in raising a boy
or a girl. "My Papa and Grandpa treated me and my little girl with
two different personalities. Maybe I would be able to see how I would
be as a father of a son or a daughter. If I would have a daughter I
would be completely done for!" Ka Lok openly complained that his wife
was eating too little, even pregnant she would not eat much. Often
she was afraid that she would be too fat on camera. Earlier at a
charity event, in front of the mirror she felt she was a little
"swollen" and not eat. Although the baby was currently at "full
weight", Ka Lo hoped that when everyone would see Mrs. Chan, they
would remind her to eat a little more.
<br /><br />Chau Ka Yin congratulated Ka Lok, but Ka Lok joked that she
could not just say congratulation. Ka Yi said that she would like to
give a present but she did not know the baby's gender. Would she be
the baby's godmother? She pointed out that would depend on fate.
She already had four godsons and two goddaughters.
<br /><br />Hui Ching Wan in WE was paired with Fong Lik Sun and gave up
her first on screen kiss. Was Siu Fong a good kisser? She joked,
"We kissed for many seconds, the feeling was great. We shot from
several angles."
<br /><br />Elly again played a pregnant lady and even finally gave birth.
In the film she even "rented" father to be Chan Ka Lok to be her
husband. Elly was a nursing student and was fortunate enough to
watch the birth process in a delivery room. Thus she was able to
use the experience in the film.hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-42753288010683378372024-03-08T22:44:00.001-08:002024-03-08T22:44:18.027-08:00[2024.03.08] LOUIS KOO CONSIDERS STARTING A NURSING HOME<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-042b1.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="556" data-original-width="780" height="228" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-042b1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Louis Koo and vice president Candy Yu attend the Performing Artist Guild spring banquet</td></tr></tbody></table><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-042b2.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="556" data-original-width="780" height="228" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-042b2.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Louis Cheung wishes for more unity in show business <br />courtesy of on.cc</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/4fbc498102c10e5b56060192b04d3318/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/07/23197/i_src_288319189.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="454" data-original-width="680" height="214" src="https://image.stheadline.com/f/680p0/0x0/100/none/4fbc498102c10e5b56060192b04d3318/stheadline/news_res/2024/03/07/23197/i_src_288319189.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"> Louis Koo and Candy Yu are happy to see the council getting younger<br />courtesy of singtao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/c9551482040e4466ba8b5097fde452be.jpg"><img border="0" data-original-height="321" data-original-width="800" height="128" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/c9551482040e4466ba8b5097fde452be.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/053ebcc7866d4638b682fdd91b19cd11.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="800" height="280" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/053ebcc7866d4638b682fdd91b19cd11.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">91 year old Chow Chung accepts the "Outstanding Performing Artist Grand Prize" from the Performing Artists Guild president Louis Koo, and remains spirited during his speech</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/ee556495f3764300ad8e48c08ac1f2a7.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="774" height="320" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/ee556495f3764300ad8e48c08ac1f2a7.jpg" width="310" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yu Mo Lin (center) poses for photos with Chow Chung and Tin Kai Man</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/2a63efc81dcc40c0a9687b2c9c309946.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="504" data-original-width="800" height="202" src="https://fs.mingpao.com/ldy/20240308/s00008/2a63efc81dcc40c0a9687b2c9c309946.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Candice Yu (arrow) personally makes the cake for the Performing Artists Guild's 30th anniversary<br />courtesy of mingpao.com</td></tr></tbody></table><br />
The Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild yesterday held
spring tea with over 100 members. President Louis Koo Tin Lok, who
made a surprise appearance, led vice president Candice Yu On On, Chin
Kar Lok and a group of new committee members Louis Cheung Kai Chung,
Catherine Chau Ka Yi, Kaki Sham and others in attendance. As committee
membership got younger, Yu On On admitted that the previous generation
would ultimately retire and new waves would always be required.
<br /><br />The Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild's 16th Council election
completed early this year. Koo Tin Lok would get another term as the
president, as would vice presidents Yu On On and Chin Kar Lok. New
arrivals Cheung Kai Chung and Chau Ka Yi would respectively be the new
term executive secretary and treasurer. Kaki Sham, Hins Zhang Jing
Xuna (Cheung King Hin) would be on the Executive Committee. Jonathan
Wong Chee Hynn, Terence Chui Chi Long (Siufay), Leung Kai Ning (Salted
Egg), Neo Yau Hawk Sau, J.Arie (Rachel Lui Sum Yu), Chiu Sin Hang and
Cathy Cheng Man were invited to join as the nominated committee. Yu On
On was happy that the committee membership got younger, and even
personally made a cake to celebrate the Guild's 30th anniversary.
<br /><br />The "Outstanding Performing Art Grand Prize" was presented to
honor elder artists who have contributed their valuable young and made
numerous contributions. This year's recipients included Yu Kam Chu,
Tsui Kwong Lam, Ko Yi Hang, and Chow Chung. President Koo Tin Lok
made a surprise appearance to present the awards. Chow Chung said,
"Thank you everyone for your recognition, I want to say something from
the conscience. I didn't come for the individual ward. I
wholeheartedly appreciate the Performing Artists Guild, particularly
admire Mr. Koo Tin Lok. I have been kissing up to him for several
decades. I guess Mr. Koo Tin Lok has a wish in his heart, a nursing
home under the Performing Artists Guild." Koo Tin Lok said, "Because
it would be very complicated, I would do my best!"
<br /><br />First time participant Louis Cheung Kai Chung said, "I hope
to learn more from the elders, I would slowly get more of an
understanding coming up. Aside from continuing to help elder members,
I would also be able to provide assistance and connection with younger
members. I hope to bring in more variety of categories into performing
artists, so show business can be even more united." Kaki Sham hoped
to hold more gatherings and attract young artists into the Guild;
treasurer Catherine Chau Ka Yi joked that her math was not great.
"Finding the worst person at math to be the treasure, maybe they trust
me. Luckily I would have accountants to help."
<br /><br />After suffering from pulmonary fibrosis since 2020, Yu Mo Lin
yesterday appeared to be in decent spirit but still thin. She needed
assistance from her domestic helper when she worked. Yu Mo said that
her health was iffy. Earlier when she had fish she choked on a bone
and had to go to the emergency room. After one night the bone was
removed. The doctor asked her to prevent falling, since then she
no longer dared to go out alone. Every morning she would take a walk
at the park. At night she would go to bed after watching the two
television series. She even said that she started to lose her
memory and had to ask friends to play Taiwan mahjong for training.hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-12330605727119260652024-03-08T22:44:00.000-08:002024-03-08T22:44:10.655-08:00[2024.03.08] KEUNG TO AND ANSON LO BREAK THE ICE TO PROMOTE NEW FILM<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-011b1.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="558" data-original-width="780" height="229" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-011b1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Keung To and Anson Lo are constantly rumored to be at odds. two movies, aside from the already released THE MOON THIEVES (DOH YUET
JEH) there would also be WE 12 (12 GWAI DOH) at the end of the month.
Because MIRROR would perform the England stops of their tour on March
12 and 14, lately they have been busy with the preparation. The new
film has yet to see any large scale promotion. The film company has
already begun to release trailers and Easter eggs online. As MIRROR's
popularity king Keung To also lent a hand, recently sharing many photos
with Anson Lo and rapidly led to responses. Many "MIRO"s declared
"very touching" when they saw them together in the frame and smashed
the like button like mad. Keung To posted, "How long haven't we taken
a photo together?" Anson Lo replied, "Too long". The funniest was
their group mate Jeremy Lee Chun Kit and ERROR captain Leung Yip
(Fatboy)'s comments. Jeremy enviously asked Keung To, "What about my
photos with you?" Keung To said, "Petty." Fatboy also asked, "What
about me?"
<br /><br />Although Keung To's sharing of photos with Anson Lo had many
positive comments, some online also ridiculed him for being
calculating and citing that he posted the photos with other
intentions. In the photo he seemed to have touched up the his face to
a V shape and looked much thinner. Some declared, "It's so
photoshopped even the jacket has turned into right angle!" Instead
Anson Lo seemed to have no touch up at all, showing his actual "U
face" and obviously not as sharp as Keung To.
<br /><br />In addition, WE 12's official social media platform two days
ago released an Easter egg. All of MIRROR were on hand, while
waiting for the shoot they parodied Ian Chan Cheuk Yin with an off
key "performance" of his song OFFICIAL STAR and had a lot of fun!
Ian seemed exasperated when he heard his group mate's "demon sound"
and focused on getting into the shoot instead.
<br /><br />In the film WE 12, the 12 MIRRROR members each have
their own special abilities. In it Anson Kong excels in reading
animal minds. In the film footage, AK spent a lot of time with his
dog co-stars to cultivate relationships. From being a complete
novice who seemed to have difficulties with even picking them up,
to later training the dogs to follow his commands and playing with
them. In one scene AK carried a little dog and spin, the dog even
turned around and licked AK's mouth.
<br /><br />Another member Tiger was a lip reading expert, and also had
to have a lot of fight scenes. Before hand he had to accept a series
of action training, including a 360 flip in the air then falling to
the ground. The difficulty was extremely high, no wonder even he
could not help but scream, "I am so dizzy!"hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-82333607700078760632024-03-08T22:43:00.001-08:002024-03-08T22:43:49.665-08:00[2024.03.08] STEPHY TANG AND JASPER LIU GET INTO CHARACTER IN ONE SECOND<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-061b1.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="556" data-original-width="780" height="228" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-061b1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Stephy Tang and Jasper Liu click right away on their first collaboration<br />courtesy of on.cc</td></tr></tbody></table><br />
Stephy Tang Lai Yan in the new film AS IT BURNS (BAK
JAU YU FUN) had to challenge the suspenseful story Taiwan star Jasper
Liu but also had to break through the frame of romantic film. Stephy
felt that the film was a poignant story of karmic cycle. "For example
we actors experienced a life each time we act, so we have experienced
many lives. If we couldn't let go and suppress like my character,
who would still bring the grudge and circle endlessly. She couldn't
break the cycle." Jasper Liu said, "We seem to be something as pure
as an egg. It however is very fragile, being tossed into a big fire."
<br /><br />Stephy and Jasper Liu in the film brought viewers into the
intriguing world of suspense. They needed to show extremely high
degree of chemistry, but Jasper Liu revealed that they before starting
work on the set have never met. They saw each other for the first
time on the day of the shoot, but had to rapidly interact and get
into the production condition right away. "Before the shoot I haven't
had the chance to meet and get to know Stephy, I have only been
preparing for my part, getting ready condition wise and jumping into
the character's real emotions." Stephy also said, "During the shoot
I put aside my own emotions, immersed myself into this character to
believe in everything they have. I hope everyone could see our side
that is real and has soul."hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1460464992648250649.post-67395945050495396792024-03-08T22:43:00.000-08:002024-03-08T22:43:31.061-08:00[2024.03.08] ZHANG YIMOU WOULD RECEIVE THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-064b1.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="556" data-original-width="780" height="228" src="https://orientaldaily.on.cc/asset/entertainment/20240308/photo/0308-00282-064b1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">courtesy of on.cc</td></tr></tbody></table><br />
Renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou will be honored
with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 17th Asian Film Awards
ceremony to be held on March 10th 2024. The prestigious award, the
event's highest accolade, is given to film professionals who have
made a significant impact on Asian cinema throughout their lifetime
dedicated to the film industry. Zhang is also honored for his
directorial work Full River Red which will receive the 2023
Highest-Grossing Asian Film Award on the same occasion. These two
awards are not only a testament to Zhang's extraordinary achievements
but also to his continued success, having won the Asian Film
Contribution Award at the 4th Asian Film Awards in 2010 and the Best
Director Award at the 15th Asian Film Awards in 2021 for One Second.
Zhang expressed his profound gratitude to receive the Lifetime
Achievement Award: "I consider myself very fortunate to have chosen
filmmaking as my lifelong profession. Having been in the industry
for over four decades, I am grateful to everyone who appreciates my
films. Thank you for your enduring support and encouragement. I will
keep learning and strive to surpass myself. Always having
anticipations for the future, I hope that my best film will be my
next one."
<br /><br />As a filmmaker with decades of experience, Zhang Yimou shared
his insight on films from different eras. "There have been significant
phases in Chinese cinema over the past decades, with each era leaving
its imprint on the development and evolution of Chinese films. This
phenomenon is not unique to China, but also everywhere else.
Personally speaking, each era is complex and profound on its own.
Ultimately, film is a bridge with the capacity to connect our hearts
together."
<br /><br />He shared his experience with young film directors. "Nowadays,
I am often asked by the media to impart words of wisdom to young
directors. Today's young generation actually grows up in the age of
the internet with abundant information at their disposal. They are
very aware and energetic, and do not really need much spoon-feeding.
But since you asked, my answer is simple: persistence is key! Even
when faced with numerous challenges, you have to persevere. As long as
you have passion, you will persevere."
<br /><br />Zhang Yimou said that he has often been asked how would he
turn out had he not entered the film industry. "Many friends asked
me the same question, and I do sometimes go back in time to analyze
and imagine what might have been. If I were to make a guess, the two
most probable paths during that era would be: (1) A propaganda officer
at a factory's trade union (primarily involved in writing and drawing);
(2) Running a small photography studio." hktoptenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02690406962545197913noreply@blogger.com0
