The Wai Ka Fai written and directed WRITTEN BY (JOI SUN HO) has been selected to be the 10th Annual New York Asian Film Festival opening film, which made the cast and crew very happy. WRITTEN BY is about a successful lawyer who passes away suddenly in an accident and leaves his wife and two daughters. In the end he is "resurrected" in his daughter's novel. Lau Ching Wan stars in the film that will be released on July 10 in Hong Kong.
The New Year Asian Film Festival's mission is to introduce Asian commercial films to the American audience. Founded in 1999, the film festival has already held a Johnnie To Kei Fung retrospective in 2000 and screened many Milky Way Image films, including Wai Ka Fai's TOO MANY WAYS TO BE NO. 1.
This year's New Year Asian Film Festival will open on June 19. Wai Ka Fai is very excited about his film being selected for the opening. He frankly said that he felt very honored and has already decided to attend with lead actor Lau Ching Wan on June 18. Although the U. S. was under the influence of Influenza A H1N1, he was not worried as he would pay particular attention to personal hygiene.
