The film LEGEND OF THE FIST THE RETURN OF CHEN ZHEN (JING MO FUNG WON CHEN ZHEN) had many big scenes. The student protest scene had over 1,000 extras. Shu Qi also sacrificed a lot for the scene as she caught the flu. This scene was shot on a constructed street set in Shanghai. Just the set took 100 workers and over 1 month to complete.

During the shoot, Donnie Yen Chi Tan had to carry Shu Qi. Chi Tan normally could lift over 100 pounds, but in this scene he had to carry Shu Qi and walked slowly. Time was particularly slow. He joked, "Shu Qi is very heavy, I am exhausted!" The day of the shoot was very chilly with only 3 degrees Celsius. Chi Tan only wore a flimsy Chinese suit. When he was carrying Shu Qi, his hands were frozen. Shu Qi was luckier. Because she wore a Japanese military uniform, she was warmer. Before and after the shoot she had a proud look.

Shawn Yue Man Lok was a buddy of director Andrew Lau Wai Keung and guest starred this time. In the film he played the Northeastern troop warlord General Tsang's son Major General Tsang, who looked very similar to THE BUND's Ray Lui Leung Wai. He was also the Japanese military assassination target. Lok Jai worked for two days and both days were gun scenes. Thus in two days he heard over 10,000 shots, which was deafening. In the film he had scenes with Huo Siyan. It was their first collaboration. He stated that at first he was worried that Siyan was so frail that he would have to take care of her; but actually she was very daring. During the gun scene she had no complaint despite the scratches. Instead he anxiously looked for bandages for her.
