Checkley Sin Kwok Lam yesterday received an award for his company's outstanding performance as an Hong Kong enterprise in the Greater Bay Area as he established and film and television base. He revealed that the Foshan film studio later would expand with a Hollywood partner. If successful it would become the only film and television base that would mix Chinese and Western cultures in the world. The initial investment is US$ 100 million.
Sin Kwok Lam pointed out that the investment partner since 2014 has made over 200 films and over HK$ 170 billion total box office. The expansion is under planning. He said, "This time the Great Bay area policy helped greatly and accelerated the approval process. Now Foshan is a film and television industry culture city, the expansion would take place from the end of the year to early next year. It would take a year and a half. Upon completion the studio has signed for five Hollywood films and three television series, which would benefit us enormously. If we only make 10% the amount would already be very sizable. To me it would be a milestone." Has he become a film and television tycoon? He said, "I didn't say that, (Better than Louis Koo Tin Lok?) He is better than me." He also revealed that in November he would start production on a Hong Kong film about seniors, so far Yeung Pan Pan, Connie Man Hoi Ling and Chan Wing Chun would be in the cast.
