The 17th Asian Film Awards would take place in Hong Kong on March 10th at the West Kowloon Cultural District's Xiqu Centre. Yesterday a press conference was held to announce the nominations. Last year's WHERE THE WIND BLOWS (FUNG JOI HEI SI) Best Actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai this year with THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI) was again nominated. TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI)'s director Cheuk Yik Him and child actor Sean Wong Tsz Lok were respectively nominated for "Best New Director" and "Best Supporting Actor". Rachel Leung Yung Ting with IN BROAD DAYLIGHT (BAK YUT JI HA) was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress", while Tse Wing Yan with FLY ME TO THE MOON (DAN YUEN YUN CHEUNG GAU) was nominated for "Best New Actor".

This year 35 films from 24 countries or regions would vie for film awards in 16 categories. Among the 35 nominated films, Hong Kong film THE GOLDFINGER received 3 nominations that included "Best Actor", "Best Art Direction" and "Best Costume Design". Again nominated for Best Actor, Leung Chiu Wai after receiving the good news responded, "Thank you to each Asian Film Awards voter, I am very honored to be nominated with such excellent actors!"

TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES also received 3 nominations, including Sean Wong Tsz Lok for "Best Supporting Actor", Cheuk Yik Him for "Best New Director" and "Best Editing". IN BROAD DAYLIGHT's Rachel Leung Yung Ting was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress", and Tse Wing Yan with FLY ME TO THE MOON was nominated for "Best New Actor". Leung Yung Ting first thanked the event for recognizing her, she was very happy to be nominated. She sincerely thanked each and every person on the film's cast and crew, because the nomination belonged to everyone. Also because of their effort and professional contributions this character of "Siu Ling" was achieved.

Yesterday Adam Pak Tin Nam and Many Tam Man Huen announced the nominations on the stage, along with other new generation actors Kevin Chu Pak Yin, Peter Chan Charm Man, Mak Pui Tung and Jessica Chan Yee Chun. The event announced the famous Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa would be the jury chair. The youth ambassadors would be Taiwan actor Liu Kuan-ting, Hong Kong actor Will Or Wai Lam, Japanese Hio Miyazawa and Thai actor Mario Maurer.

Guest Mak Pui Tung was last year's Best New Actor. He said that last year he participated as a nominee and was nervous. This year he finally was able to properly enjoy the event. Speaking of this year's nomination picks, Chan Charm Man was happy for TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES' director and actor nominees. Due to the strong competition, the nominations were already great! Speaking of work, Chan Charm Man revealed that he would promote for his Lunar New Year film TABLE FOR SIX 2 (FAN HEI GUNG SUM 2), while Mak Pui Tung would be busy with his play rehearsal. The play would begin its run next month and all shows have sold out. Pak Tin Nam just completed a movie in Europe and returned to Hong Kong, and the production opened his eyes. Mandy said that aside from having to promote her film, later she would also run a race. This would be her first race and she would ran the 10 kilometer. She hoped to be able to finish it within 15 minutes. "Because of the pandemic I had no job, so I started running. I thought it was a pretty way to reduce stress. Maybe next year I would participate in the half or the full marathon. (Would your boyfriend participate?) No, I will be fighting solo."

Mandy revealed that on the stage she suddenly felt a running nose coming on. When she swallowed she finally realized that she had a bloody nose. She joked, "Maybe on the stage I was so nervous that my blood was raging, so much so that I had a bloody nose." Adam due to his poor Chinese had to ask Mandy on several occasion about the pronunciation. He thanked her for her help. "Normally when I read scripts I have to write pinyin, so before coming out I practiced. However the schedule was too tight, and I have never announced such a large scale award on stage. It was a honor, but I was very nervous."
