Once named the "Golden Horse Best Actress" with GOLDEN CHICKEN (GUM GAI), Sandra Ng Kwan Yu is nominated for the award again after 21 years with LOVE LIES (NGOR TAM DIK NA CHEUNG LUEN OI). She will compete with fellow Hong Kong actors Patra Au Ga Man and Chung Suet Ying, and Taiwan's Sylvia Chang and Kimi Hsia for the award; another Hong Kong representative Neo Yau Haw Sau was nominated for the first time to challenge for the "Best Actor", the result was surprising as he would skip levels to challenge Chang Chen and other good actors.

The annual film event "The 61st Golden Horse Awards" will be held at the Taipei Pop Music Center on November 23th, and the nomination announcement event was held as usual yesterday as Typhoon Krathon hit Taiwan. Due to the impact of the typhoon, the physical press conference was changed to an online one. Among the nominations the movie DEAD TALENTS SOCIETY was nominated for 11 awards, making it the most nominated work this year. Yesterday, the recipient of the "Taiwan's Outstanding Filmmaker of the Year" was announced to be the veteran spray painting artist Li Si-jian.

The Hong Kong film ALL SHALL BE WELL (CHUNG GUM YI HAU) was successfully nominated for the "Best Feature Film", and lead actress Au Ga Man will compete with fellow compatriots Ng Kwan Yu, Chung Suet Ying, as well as Sylvia Chang and Kimi Hsia for the "Golden Horse Best Actress". Sylvia Chang has won the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress three times, and this time she is naturally considered to be the front runner. Yau Hawk Sau was nominated for "Best Actor" for THE WAY WE TALK (HONG NGOR GUM TIN JUM MOR SUET), competing with Chang Chen, King Jieh-wen, Wanlop RUNGKUMJAD and Zhang Zhiyong for "Golden Horse Best Actor". Ng Kwan Yu won the "Golden Horse Best Actress" with GOLDEN CHICKEN (GUM GAI) in 2003, and this was the fourth time she has been nominated in this category. Nominated again after 21 years, Kwan Yu gratefully said, "Old tears are shed all over! Since winning the Best Actress for GOLDEN CHICKEN 21 years ago, to now being nominated for the Golden Horse Awards again, I am so excited that I feel like I have a heart attack, I am grateful!" Also nominated for the "Best New Director" for the film, Ho Miu Ki said, "It is a great honor, I am grateful to be nominated for the Golden Horse Award for New Director. I am very happy that Kwan Yu has been nominated for Best Actress. This time I tried a little new attempt in a Hong Kong romantic comedy. I am grateful for the cast and the crew that accompany a new director to try a movie with heart and effort. I also thank the audience for accepting it. I hope that I can continue to create comedy in the future and respond to the world with humor and kindness."

The Yau Hawk Sau and Chung Suet Ying starred THE WAY WE TALK has the subject of deaf young people living in their own ways and exploring the world. The two were nominated for Best Actor and Actress; the film was also nominated for Best Sound Effect.

The first Golden Horse Award nomination THE WAY WE TALK's Yau Hawk Sau received was for Best Actor. Referring to as a level skipping challenge, he happily said, "Thank you to the Golden Horse Awards for giving me unprecedented support and encouragement; thank you to Wong Sau Ping, who time and time again has given me the opportunity to be seen; and most importantly, I hope that this film can bring more people into contact with the deaf community and culture, and tell a story that the world can see." The lead actress of the same film, Chung Suet Ying was nominated was nominated for the second consecutive year after competing for the Golden Horse for the first time with THE LYRICIST WANNABE (TIN CHI L). She said excitedly, "Thank you to the Golden Horse Awards, when I just saw the sound effect teacher (Cyrus Tang Hok Lun)'s nomination I already felt very honored; I was so excited to see Yau Hawk Sau's nomination that I immediately called him but he didn't hear it. Then I heard my name, this movie is a symbol of a group of people's cooperation, thank you to the friends who have contributed within, thank you to the director for finding me to perform. Nominated for Best Sound Effect, Cyrus Tang Hok Lau said, "I haven't digested (the news) yet, but I want to thank the director for asking me to participate in this film; the whole process isn't easy. I would also like to thank the entire sound design team, this is the result of everyone's hard work." In addition, director Ray Yeung Yiu Hoi was nominated for Best Director with ALL SHALL BE WELL.
