The Hong Kong film market has been in a downturn, as Hong Kong film production rate has been drastically reduced. Earlier some worried that the Year of the Snake Lunar New Year film quantity would be less than ample, but recently several Lunar New Year films have been rumored to be in production and turned the atmosphere more cheerful. The most recent Lunar New Year film MA JEUK NUI WONG JUI NAM JAI (MAHJONG QUEENS CHASE THE GUYS) held its production start ceremony yesterday, joint producers and directors Wong Jing and Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum), actors Samantha Ko Hoi Ning (Go Ling), Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming (Ma Ming), Carlos Chan Ka Lok, DaDa Chan Jing, Sabrina Qiu Yinong, Benz Hui Siu Hung (Benz Hung), Sean Man Jor Hong, Juliana Kwok Pui Man, Mak Ling Ling, Bob Lam Sing Bun, Ching Ho Wai and other were present. Both Ma Ming and Ko Ling were playing leading roles in a film for the first time. They considered themselves newcomers to the film industry. They had relationship subplot and intimate scenes in the film, but Ko Ling had to chase after Ma Ming this time.
Wong Jing revealed that he has shot 6 Lunar New Year films in the past. Seeing that Hong Kong movies have lacked happy and funny comedies in recent years, he and Yip Lim Sum after coming up with a good subject worked together to produce and direct this Lunar New Year film. They paid homage to "mahjong" and "chasing girls" movies, but this time reversed the direction to chase boys. Wong Jing also pointed out that in addition to the veteran Go Ling, other characters such as Kwok Pui Man and Man Jor Hong were new young pairings. A goddess-level mysterious weapon with more than 1.5 million Ig fans would also join the film. Yesterday, Hui Siu Hung and Lam Sing Bun both appeared in funny wigs. Benz Hung joked that he was dressed up as "Tornado", while Bob was playing "Shun Yat".
Go Ling has made Lunar New Year films in the past, but this is her first lead role in a movie. She felt that it was a dream come true. As for Ma Ming becoming the lead actor in a movie for the first time, he felt even more flattered. "I have only done a few movies before, but all as a guest star. This would be considered my first official Hong Kong film production, which is really rare. However I don't have any pressure from the box office because the film has many experienced actors; I am still a newcomer in the film industry." Go Ling immediately said, "I myself have a little box office pressure; but after what Ma Ming said, I too feel like I am just a newcomer."
In the movie, Go Ling had to film a lot of mahjong scenes, which turned her poor tile skills into mahjong mastery. When asked if she had any sex performance, she laughed and said that the film was filled with so many beauties that it already had many beautiful scenes; so it was enough for her to be responsible for mahjong playing. As for their relationship subplot in the film, Ma Ming pointed out that the movie had both funny and touching spots, and would not be absurd. This time he did not have to play an old role, but a "bad luck" scientist. "It's all easy to handle because in reality I am a little unlucky. Instead I m afraid of playing a rich man because this world is beyond my grasp." As for Go Ling, she played an insurance industry queen who chased after Ma Ming. Would they have any intimate scene? Ma Ming joked, "According to my standards it's very intimate, on the sofa our hair was messed up and sweaty. You will know it when you go and see the movie." Has Go Ling ever tried to take the initiative to pursue someone in real life? She said no, she has only tried to give the other person some hints appropriately to let him know that she was fond of him and let him pursue her. As for becoming the lead actress in a Wong Jing movie, has she become the latest "Jing Girl"? Go Ling said that she was unsure if Brother Jing named her to be the lead actress. Would she like to be "Jing Girl"? She joked, "How do you know I am not? Actually I have participated in several of Brother Jing's movies, only this would be the first time as the lead actress!"
Chan Ka Lok wore a big coat and slicked back hair. Many people guessed that he played Chow Yun Fat's "God of Gamblers", but he joked that it was another actor's classic role and he had to keep it secret for now. In the film he, DaDa and a goddess from overseas would have the most scenes together, but they would only have emotional scenes and no passion scenes. DaDa bluntly said that she would not need to be sexy this time. She would play an intimacy coach who would teach Chan Ka Lok and the mysterious goddess how to shoot intimate scenes, so there was no need to be sexy. She would even perform most of the scenes without makeup. Did she feel since she would not need to show off her figure, her beautiful figure would go to waste? DaDa laughed and said, "No, I can try more different variations in the performance. Because there is no script yet, everyone can improvise on the spot." When it comes to filming intimate scenes with actresses, Ka Lok said that he has informed his wife Shiga Lin advance and who the co-stars would be, but she did not ask about the intimacy level of the shoot. When asked if after his daughter was born, he needed to make milk money and frequently took on roles? Ka Lok said, "I just happened to have one job after another. Being an actor is really passive. When I was filming in Malaysia, the director called me and asked me to save the date for a New Year film. I was just lucky." After that, Ka Lok would collaborate with Eliza Sam Lai Heung in a short drama, details of which would be announced later.
Kwok Pui Man and "Jing Girl" Sabrina Qiu Yinong both showed off their sexy "career lines" (cleavage) at the production start ceremony yesterday. Making a movie for the first time, Kwok Pui Man felt very happy. After all, she was able to be on the big screen after only one year in the industry and really felt grateful. She knew that she would have many different looks in the movie, but she did not know if she needed to be even sexier. "To have a 'career' like today is OK, but I wouldn't be any sexier." As far as she knew she would not need to wear a swimsuit. She joked that even if she did no one would want to it, because she has gained weight recently due to eating too much and had a little belly. She was still able to maintain her waistline at 22 and a half inches. In addition, she was notified of the performance at short notice, so she did not have time to get into shape. When asked whether she was invited to perform because of her acting skills or her figure, Kwok Pui Man said bluntly, "It's probably not the acting! However all of them are beautiful girls. I haven't received the script yet, I only know that I would play a pretty girl role!"
Currently in preparation and already in production Year of the Snake Lunar New Year films aside from MA JEUK NUI WONG JUI NAM JAI would also include the Ng Kin Hung produced, Andy Lo (Law Yiu Fai) directed, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and Louis Cheung Kai Chung starred DOH WOK GUM (WAGER A WOK OF GOLD, tentative title) and the ROB N' ROLL (LUM SI GIP ONG) director Albert Mak Kai Kwong directed, the TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) team of Louis Koo Tin Lok, Raymond Lam Fung, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, German Cheung Man Kit and Philip Ng Won Lung along with Gigi Leung Wing Kei and Chrissie Chau Su Na starred movie about middle aged female boxing.
