The prequel to the movie COLD WAR (HONG JIN) film series COLD WAR 1994 (HONG JIN 1944) held a press conference at the Hong Kong International Film and Television Festival (FILMART) yesterday, producer Bill Kong Chi Keung, director Longman Leung Lok Man and stars Terrance Lau Chun Him, Gardner Tse Kwan Ho and Louise Wong Dan Nei appeared together. In the movie, Chow Yun Fat, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Louis Koo Tin Lok would also make special performances. The key actors included Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Wu Kang-Ren, Fish Liew Chi Yu, THE GAME OF THRONES' Aidan Gillen, DOWNTON ABBEY's Hugh Bonneville. Tony Leung Ka Fai even made a surprise appearance, sharing the stage with Lau Chun Him as two generations of "Lee Man Bun" (their character in the film). They were so excited that they even performed verses from Adam Cheng Siu Chau's "Luk Siu Fung" acapella, "Love and honor, worth thousands in gold" to heat up the atmosphere.
Leung Ka Fai made a mystery appearance and expressed that he was excited and more excited to be able to continue the COLD WAR film series. Although he and Lau Chun Him only met for the first time yesterday, he watched the test screening twice and felt that the younger version of "Lee Man Bun" was better than his older version. "It really makes me doubt life, but I am also honored, emotional and happy. I see that we have very good actors. I checked before watching the test screening Ah Him has won already a lot of actor awards. I was the Best Actor of the millennium, but this newcomer is more than a thousand years. He has the ability to shape, and his actor's sensitivity is attentive enough."
Lau Chun Him revealed that he also researched the COLD WAR film series before the performance, but he could not completely imitate Brother Ka Fai. However he also put Brother Ka Fai's interpretation method on himself. Regarding the strong praises from Brother Ka Fai, Lau Chun Him directly said that he was embarrassed, felt shy and the pressure suddenly increased. "It's so stressful, my shoulders are frozen now!" Leung Ka Fai joked, "After watching the film my spine was crooked. I am not praising it, those deserve praises should be praised. It's not for the promotion of the movie, I admire this Hong Kong actor very much and I hope that his film career will achieve even greater success." Speaking of the performances of Chow Yun Fat, Kwok Fu Sing and Koo Tin Lok in this film, Leung Ka Fai instead was the happiest to see the growth of the third generation of actors.
The reporter asked Lau Chun Him if he hoped to win the Best Actor like Leung Ka Fai did with this role? He said that he did not think so. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to his enthusiasm at work. Whether he would win an award or not depended on too many factors, and he would not act for the pursuit of awards. Instead Brother Ka Fai with THE SHADOW'S EDGE (BO FUNG JUI YIN)G was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor and he has already voted for him. Leung Ka Fai smiled and said, "Now it's my turn to be stressed, my spine is bent, so I can make the 'S' pose on both sides." The reporter smiled and asked if holding his grandchild caused back pain? He laughed and said that he did not get a turn to hold his granddaughter, so he just picked up hair at home and asked a friend to send him a cleaning robot. He said that he would not have too much expectation for the award, nor would he be too disappointed, whether he would win the award or not would depend on the time and place. Even if he performed well, he might not necessarily win the award. So no one should feel sorry for him if he would not win the award. He still has the next ten years.
Lau Chun Him was writing a script with the intention of becoming a director, would he invite Brother Ka Fai to perform? He said that he was afraid that he would not be able to hire him, and Leung Ka Fai said after understanding, "If you want to develop as a director, then you send me the script. If the role is suitable I will make room on my schedule and charge you 2 bucks for salary!" After hearing this, Lau Chun Him said, "Brother Ka Fai is great, I feel so warm; but the number of units should be limited, and not taking as long as three months to shoot!" In addition, when asked about the abandonment of Japanese actor Takuya Kimura in TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: THE FINAL CHAPTER (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI JUNG JEUNG) and Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) took his place. Also participating in the film, Lau Chun Him said that he only knew about it after seeing the report.
Often playing the rich businessman, Tse Kwan Ho co-starred with Taiwanese actor Wu Kang-ren in COLD WAR 1994 as the father and son of the richest family. He praised Wu Kang-ren's acting as serious and getting into character fast. Wu Kang-ren in order to recite his dialogue well insisted on communicating in Cantonese off screen, which made Tse Kwan Ho feel he had a lot of substance. He joked, "He is even very filial. Sometimes I want to speak Putonghau to accommodate him, but he insisted on speaking Cantonese with me." Tse Kwan Ho said that his performance this time was also challenging. He had to wear old makeup, spend three hours a day on makeup, and could hardly make any expression after finishing his makeup. Yet he did not want to deliberately exaggerate his expressions, so he had to wait for himself to get used to it. In addition, he has to play opposite the foreign actor from DOWNTON ABBEY (Hugh Bonneville), and the English dialogue delivery also had a certain degree of difficulty.
COLD WAR 1994 gathered Best Actor class Chow Yun Fat, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Kwok Fu Sing, Koo Tin Lok, Tse Kwan Ho and other performances, director Leung Lok Man expressed his gratitude to his boss Kong Chi Keung for cooperating with him to achieve his dream of such a strong cast. He also revealed that Koo Tin Lok played the role of the chief executive. His appearance was different from Goo Jai's own hairstyle, and he also had to wear a beard. Goo Jai was great and would try to coordinate the best he could.
Wong Dan Nei played the mob boss for the first time, and gave up many of her firsts like trying to fight one person against everyone, and trying to hold a gun. She also had to undergo firearms training before filming. For her first time as the mob boss, the director wanted her to act calmly, not to have too many emotional ups and downs, and had to have a powerful aura.
