A mainland entertainment platform and a TVB official social media platform co-organizd "THE TVB MEMORIEs IN YOUR HEARTS" event recently came to an end. Bobby Auyeung Chun Wai became the "people's choice television best actor" in an online poll. Auyeung Chun Wa thanked the general public for their years of support and love for him. Speaking of his latest work arrangement, he said, "Earlier I signed with a new management compnay, and work has already begun one after another. Probably next month or after I would go to Malaysia to make a movie. I hope under this new environment I would be able to something new to the audience. I hope every viewer would accept me as this actors who is making new attempts. I would work extra hard to thank each viewer and fan."
Recently he has announced that he has signed with Emperor Entertainment. In terms of experience he could be without any contractual bind, so this sudden "club change" was quite a surprise!
The always humorous Auyeung Chun Wa joked, "Someone does want to tie me down! I have been at TVB for years, watching many people promoted from assistant directors to directors, then again pronmoted to producers. Many people would feel that they would not need to advise me in anything. In my memory the only director who has taught me acting was Man Wai Hung (Jazz Boon). He directed DICEY BUSINESS, which earned me the 35th International Emmy Best Actor award nomination. Indeed on television, I am considered a veteran actor, an 'old seafood' if you want to be a little funnier. Because many people feel I have already worked for so many years, I wouldn't need to be taught. They could just let me freestyle. The worst was that some people would due to generational issue mind giving me advice. Even if someone was willing, they might be told, 'It's fine, you advise Auyeung Chun Wa? Every one of his series is making money for the company, it only depends on how much; on the other hand after your advice, if he gets upset and want to quit then what?' So now I really want to experience the feeling of being a newcomer and getting advice from others, because no one is perfect; even more importantly, I have made television series for so many years but I haven't seriously made movies; however I wouldn't completely leave television, with the right role I would very gladly return to TVB. Our relationship is great. What abilities do I have to make the relationship poor? Haha. Ultimately, now I really want to try the onmvies. I have handed my entire person over to Emperor Entertainment, becoming a new comer and learning anew."
With his "rating luck" he crossed over to the big screen, was he confident that he would have "box office luck"? Auyeung Chun Wa said, " I would be very happy just to be 'stuck' to a good box office movie. Of course I hope I have this luck, and for my value to be appreciated. Actually I haven't thought about playing the lead, nor am I in any hurry. One step at a time, I would first familiarize myself with the film format, and play some roles to test the water; I would like the most to play a character, this character might not have a lot of screen time but have a lot of potential, or have a turning point in the entire film." Did he have anyone he would like to work with? He stated Best Actress Kara Wai Ying Hung. He pointed out that they have known each other for over 30 years but have never had an opportunity to work together before. Speaking of Sister Hung as a good fighter, he laughed and said, "I am not afraid, working with her in a fight scene she definitely would be more scared than me. She would be afraid for injuring me! I really hope to be able to work with her. If I have this opportunity, I would gladly accept any genre."
Emperor's big productions in recent years have all been action films. For example Nick Cheung Ka Fai in BURSTING POINT (BAU LIT DIM) had to run nonstop and had one explosion scene after another, even Ka Fai has said "Really with a little less physical ability I wouldn't have been able to handle them!" Auyeung Chun Wa said that he would try his best with any movie he would run into. He also believed that the company would choose suitable performance for him because each person would have their strong suit. For example he would not demand to play an "idol to tens of thousands". How about a "romantic action" film? He humorously said, "I can, but it doesn't mean I would be able to play it well. In addition I definitely wouldn't be the one who really enjoys making it. Actually I am very shy. I have made intimate scenes before with (Amy) Chan Sau Man, (Esther) Kwan Wing Ho and (Yoyo) Mung Ka Wai, I was at their mercy. My wife wouldn't have any difference of opinion about me making this type of scenes, she even really likes to watch......watch how fake my performance would be."
Joining a new company, he said that the new company and the new job have been the best birthday presents on his birth month since he has not been as active as now in a very long time. He hoped the new company would be able to give people the impression of a different Auyeung Chun Wa.
What else was he after in life and on his show business journey? Just jumping out of his work "comfort zone", he actually said that he was after peace! He explained, "The so-called peace doesn't refer to relaxing. People used to say 'just do it', now my view on life is 'if I don't want to, don't do it'. The meaning of not doing it isn't being lazy, but before I would not feel right to turn people down when they asked me to work. Now I hope to work for me. If I don't want to or I am not happy, then I might as not do it. Tha way I wouldn't complain and blame after doing it."
