Hong Kong veteran filmmaker Shi Nansun passed away on the 13th of last month at the age of 75. The memorial service "ENCORE NANSUN" was held yesterday at the Grand Hyatt Wan Chai. The memorial service brought together nearly 100 celebrities from the film industry. Shi Nansun's former husband Tsui Hark made a special life video for her to be broadcast at the event, and made a final tribute to Shi Nansun with her relatives and friends.

Shi Nansun was known as the "Imperial General Manager" in the Hong Kong film industry, firmly stood in the film circle for more than 40 years and produced countless classic masterpieces. Sammo Hung Kam Bo and Candy Yu On On were present in wheelchairs and cane respectively.

The memorial hall is decorated with elegant purple, white and pink flowers, and a black and white photo of a smiling Shi Nansun was used, and she looked calm and dashing. Inside the hall wreathes from Michael Hui Koon Man, Sam Hui Koon Kit, Andy Lau Tak Wah, Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi, Gary Ting Chi Ko and Miriam Yeung Chi Wah and others were on display.

After the song "I HAVE NEVER LEFT", the memorial came to a successful end. Guests began to leave at 11:45 a.m. Everyone looked sad, Li Bingbing, the eyes of Kent Tsai, Yeung Choi Nei, Paw Hee Ching and so on were red from crying. Not seen in public in Hong Kong for a long time, Jackie Chan and Jojo Cho Chuen appeared after 12 noon. Subsequently, Tsui Hark and Lam Ching Ha spoke to the media.

Lam Ching Ha said, "Shi Nansun was a great filmmaker, and her contribution to Hong Kong film and as person could not be fit into just one book. She could not have been any better to her friends, and she treated her friends with all her heart and soul. In her final days, many good friends and family surrounded her every day and accompanied her. During her days at the hospital, Tsui Hark and I took turns to be by her side 24 hours a day. Finally, she peacefully left us surrounded by love. Today I saw so many good friends from all over the world just to pay tribute to Nansun (Shi Nansun), I feel very grateful and moved, everyone is very thoughtful."

Tsui Hark expressed his gratitude to a group of friends who gathered their collectibe strength to prepare for this memorial meeting, as well as special thanks to the three musicians Luo Dayou, Wu Bai and Lo Koon Ting, who in the electronic commemorative book each wrote a song dedicated to Shi Nansun. He himself also wrote a song. He sighed sentimentally and continued, "I put all the music and lyrics on the commemorative book, hoping that someone can sing these songs as soon as possible and let everyone hear them. Finally, on behalf of Shi Nansun, I thank you, the media workers, for the patience and care to report on her news. We and her family express our gratitude to everyone." Lam Ching Ha added, "We are all her family. I've been with Shi Nansun for 44 years, Tsui Hark for 50 years, and we'll always be family."

In addition, the electronic memorial book was divided into three parts, for relatives and friends to remember the time spent with Shi Nansun. Among them, "Time" contained precious photos of Shi Nansun since her birth in 1951; "Dear Nansun" was full of the memories and time of friends. Eulogies came from director John Woo (Ng Yu Sum) and his wife Niu Chunlong, Ang Lee, Jia Zhangke, Wong Kar Wai, Ann Hui On Wa, Huang Jianxin, film producer Yu Dong, Wang Zhonglei, Hsu Feng, Korean actor Jung Woo-sung, Yen Chi Tan, Lam Chi Cheung, Yip Sin Man, etc. Among them Hui On Wa dedicated her painting to her close friend, and Lam Chi Cheung dedicated the lyrics of "Streets of Paris", which he created while working with Shi Nansun in Paris in 1983. Collaborated on THE FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE (Lung Moon Fei Gap), Mavis Fan described Shi Nansun as a "model heroine beyond time and space", and would always be a role model for her.

Wong Kar Wai wrote a letter by hand to Shi Nansun. "Ms. Shi Nansun was an outstanding Hong Kong filmmaker, making countless classic films in her lifetime. She is worth us remembering her."

In addition, the 4 songs dedicated to Shi Nansun included the Wu Bai composed, written and performed NANSUN NANSUN, the Lo Koon Ting composed and performed with Susan Tang Shuchen written lyrics RED DUST, the Luo Dayou arranged and performed DAWN, DON'T COME and LAUGH AT THE SEA concerto, and the Tsui Hark written score I HAVE NEVER LEFT.

The "ENCORE NANSUN" session was moderated by Winnie Yu Tsang, and 11 friends took the stage to speak. The following are excerpts from the speeches of several of his friends:

Shi Nansheng's big brother Shi So Ching:

Nansun learned to get along with people from a young age and was very likeable; quick witted and eager, which attributed the success of film distribution later. She is the life of the party. There is never dull moment when she is around.

Ex-husband Tsui Hark:

I want to believe that Nansun has never left us. She left not only memories, but also gratitude for her. Remember not just her achievements and contributions. More importantly, it was her spirit. She believed in culture, friendship, selfless kindness, and treated friends of different cultures in the world as equals, so that Chinese and friends of different cultures can co-exist together and sit on an equal footing.

Dear Friend Lam Ching Ha:

This lace scarf on me was given to me many years ago by Shi Nansun, and I have been reluctant to use it. I never expected that the first time I would wear it was at her memorial meeting. Now that Nansun has passed away, her grace, her presence, and her energy of love have all already moved into my heart, and I will keep them going with my life in the days ahead.

Cinema City partner Tsang Chi Wai:

A lot of people talk about Shi Nansun, but I have never heard a single bad thing said about her. She not only affected me, but also pushed Cinema City and the entire show business industry to the peak. She would 200% complete the ideas we spent all night together to come up with, bringing art and photography to Hong Kong cinema. I remember when we were making TILL DEATH DO WE SCARE (SIU SUN PA PA), she got a Vogue Magazine art director to help. She also did the translation for movies, came up with English title ACES GO PLACES for JUI GAI PAK DONG and it sounded great. She was not just our housekeeper, but also a "diplomat" and foreign industry buyers all treat her like family. Nansun's life was colorful, and today we can't find another person like her. Although she has left, her spirit is always in my heart.
 

Chang Ai Chia:

Shi Nansun's home has a painting of Feng Zikai, which says, "The flower seller is gone but the road remains fragrant." Nansun is gone, but her most precious friendship will always be there.

Yu Tsang:

I still can't bring myself to delete her number from my contact. Once on the way to the Peak, I still unknowingly thought that she was still around and could take a detour to her home to chat wit her. She was my older sister.
