[2023.11.24] RAYMOND WONG CALLS FOR MORE FILM PRODUCTIONS IN HONG KONG

The film THE LAST SUSPECT two nights ago held its premiere. Raymond Wong Pak Ming, Adam Pak Tin Nam and Iris Chung Choi Yi attended. The Wong Pak Ming invested, Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred new film MISJUDGEMENT (NG POON) has been heating up in production and estimated for a January next year wrap. Wong Pak Ming pointed out that this time he demanded the film to be shot completely in Hong Kong, but in the past many Hong Kong films went on location overseas. Even when he made 4 IP MAN films none were shot in Hong Kong; "However I would start production on IP MAN 5, and I would demand to stay in Hong Kong for the shoot. Most recently I have signed Yen Chi Tan to 3 movies, all 3 would be made in Hong Kong." He pointed out that in the 80's the movies were all made in Hong Kong. "At the time people were still collecting protection money, now they would have starved to death. So Now I have to stay in Hong Kong to make movies even more." Finding location seemed to be very difficult in Hong Kong. He said that even if it would be more difficult he still had to stay in Hong Kong for production, so he hoped that the government would coordinate. "During the pandemic when Nicole Kidman came to Hong Kong it was a big deal. Our own Hong Kong films need help even more, so I am taking the lead. I hope more blockbusters would shoot on location in Hong Kong."

Having retired from film for years, Amy Yip Chi Mei after losing her husband revealed that she still had an acting bug and would be interested in returning. Wong Pak Ming said that earlier at a friends' gathering he saw her, but felt that if she would return she could not bare all, because she has tried it before. If she would work again she would need characters with some drama. Would he ask Yip Chi Mei if he had any suitable role? He pointed out that it would depend on whether the script and the character were suitable for not.
