Emperor Motion Picture's OPERATION RED SEA made over HK$ 4.5 billion globally. The Hong Kong Film Producer Association yesterday announced that OPERATION RED SEA will represent Hong Kong to vie the 91st Best Foreign Film Oscar nomination. Currently preparing for his new film GUNG GUP GAU WOON (EMERGENCY RESCUE, tentative title), director Dante Lam Chiu Yin admitted that it was somewhat unexpected. "OPERATION RED SEA is an action film with more commercial elements, to be able to represent Hong Kong to compete for the Best Foreign Film Oscar nomination is a honor to me. No matter what, industry insiders and outsiders alike have high praise for the quality of the entire production. They feel that it can already rival world class, which to me is a tremendous encouragement and proves that we have truly done it!"

Lam Chiu Yin remained alert for his new challenge. "After OPERATION RED SEA, for any new project my condition is still giving me the greatest space to perform. It is impossible for you to pay me a lot of money and I have to do it. I must like the subject!" Has anyone truly thrown money at him for a new film? "Some have said that they would give absolute support no matter what amount I ask for. I am constantly telling myself, each subject has to be something I like. It would be the best if I have never touched it before, and I have space to explore it; like after THE BEAST STALKER and STOOL PIGEON, I suddenly made UNBEATABLE, THAT DEMON WITHIN, TO THE FORE. Each time the action level has to be different, only then would the greatest motivation be there."

As for GUNG GUP GAU WOON, the team has top experts from around the world including many with top Hollywood blockbuster experience. Lam Chiu Yin said, "I already have the production team schedule done. If all goes as expected the production will start in November. The first stop will be in Xiamen, and the last stop in Mexico. It definitely will take half a year to make!" So far the only announced actor is Eddie Peng Yu-Yan. "Now the focus of the preparation is all on Peng Yu-Yan. I am molding the character he will play. Other characters will be announced later."

Paulyn Sun Kai Kwan, Justin Cheung Kin Sing, Deon Cheung Chung Chi yesterday gave away film coupons that resembled paper currency for their film PROJECT GUTENBERG. Cheung Chung Chi screamed, "free money" to attract pedestrians. Cheung Kin Sing joked that it was like he was screaming "robbery".

Sun Kai Kwan gave away "money" for the first time. Because it was not real money she was not worried about causing a ruckus. Instead she thought it was a lot of fun. In the film she played the female manager of a criminal organization and had her share of action scenes. She said that she was not an action actor, so she had concerns about gun fights, explosions and escapes. She said, "In one scene the chandelier fell from above and landed right by my feet. For realism I tried to stand closer. Although it was fiber glass, I had less stunt experience so I was worried about my position. Before the shoot I was afraid that shrapnel would cut my face. Luckily it went smoothly." She had many opportunities to be in scenes with Fat Gor. She happily said, "Fat Gor is my idol forever, each time I see him I would get very nervous."

Cheung Chung Chi and Cheung Kin Sing both played criminal organization members. Cheung Chung Chi said, "Some fans asked me why I didn't appear in the Chiang Mai scenes after watching the entire movie. Actually I had a beard and sunglasses, so they couldn't recognize me. Fans are really hilarious."

Athena Chu Yan and Louis Cheung Kai Chung yesterday attended the new film THE LINGERING (GOO JAT)'s premiere in Shenzhen. Cheung Kai Chung said that at first he was very happy to work with Chu Yan for the first time, but when he found out that he and Chu Yan would play mother and son he immediately knew it was a horror film. However if they played a couple it would actually be even scarier. Chu Yan also said that when she heard Cheung Kai Chung would play her son, she could not believe it. Luckily with special effect make up she was not worried. In the film the mother and son relationship gave them inspiration for their own relationships with their children, and would cherish those around them. As for the secret of marriage, Cheung Kai Chung revealed that his wife Kay Tse On Kay gave him some advice. "Marriage is different from dating, it won't be as romantic as it was before. We have to take care of the children together, handle a lot of things in life. However the relationship is a state of mind issue; my wife taught me to think back to the first time I saw her, then going to dinner and the movies with her. I tried to go on dates with her with the emotions of the first time I saw her, maintain that state of mind and keep the relationship young".

Later we will promote in Singapore and Malaysia. We will also attend audience appreciation events in Hong Kong. We will split up in hopes of going to more cinemas. We truly are 'thankful'." As for a sequel, Chi Wai said that they would not plan for it so soon. Right now he would like to rest the most, because the film took 11 months to make and they almost went all over the world. Where else would he like to shoot in and how would he bring back his character? Chi Wai joked, "Let's go to Africa. We can make a prequel too."

[2018.09.22] MICHELLE LOO "SCARES" THE RAGE OUT OF CHRISSIE CHAU

courtesy of singtao.com

The Chrissie Chau Sau Na and Louis Cheung Kai Chung starred new film HOTEL SOUL GOOD (NUI WONG CHONG DOH JING) will open next month. Chau Sau Na played a strong businesswoman who runs into spiritual medium Cheung Kai Chung and becomes a happy rival. Chau Sau Na in the film is a hotel executive, a loner who is out of touch with the real world. She even has the gall to yell at her superior Michelle Loo (Lo Mik Suet) and order her around. Earlier they shot an office scene, Michelle was pale from being overworked, collapsed on the copier and thus created many scary effects. Chau Sau Na was scared half to death. For this scene, Michelle deliberately put on white make up to create a scary effect. however everyone thought she was more funny than scary. Chau Sau Na even praised how cute she looked and dragged Michelle to take a photo together.

Chau Sau Na for her role had to constantly yell at people loudly in the beginning, even with her superior Lo Mik Suet. She said, "In the film I am always yelling at people. I am a hotel executive. Although Michelle is my superior and the hotel heiress, she is useless. When she can't meet my standards, I would still yell at her. During the shoot my mood is terrible, I constantly have to be very upset. I have to stoke up a fire to yell at people. However with Michelle's white faced goddess it is very hard to yell, sometimes I would crack up in the middle of yelling." Michelle revealed that when she worked at the newspaper late at night she ran into a "supernatural" event. "When we were editing and waiting for the draft, we would often wait until the middle of the night. Many co-workers already went home, so at night the company wouldn't turn all the lights on. Once after looking at the draft in the art department I went back to my seat. When I passed other co-workers' seats suddenly a Sadako like object crawled out from under the table. I screamed right away, later I realized that she was human and not a ghost. She was rushing a draft at the company, but she wanted to hide under the desk for a nap before writing more. When she crawled out after waking up, I just happened to see her. She almost scared me to death!" Michelle often worked with pretty girls, this time she worked with Chau Sau Na. Would she feel any pressure? She said that Chau Sau Na should be the one who felt the pressure. Because she was a typical beauty, everyone would be more demanding of her. Instead they would be more lenient with an alternative beauty without a bad side like her. Thus when traditional beauty meets alternative beauty, the pressure would definitely be on the traditional beauty.

Michelle in the film stole Chau Sau Na's boyfriend Terry Zou with tenderness. Michelle said that in real life she was no subservient girlfriend. She was independent, but she was actually very easy going once someone knew where her bottom line was. Chau Sau Na said that when her career just started she neglected her boyfriend. Now she would choose a boyfriend from different work environment. She said, "In the future when I date I won't find a boyfriend at work. When everyone work in the same environment, we may have conflict and argument. The relationship may be affected."

Everyone knows that Chow Yun Fat likes to hike and run, in Hong Kong the general public often "catches him in the wild". Lately Fat Gor promoted his new film PROJECT GUTENBERG (MO SEUNG) in Beijing and he could not let go of this habit. For several mornings in a row he went to run in Chaoyang Park in Beijing. Many morning joggers recognized him and asked for photos. Fat Gor of course posted for all the photos they wanted. After the news spread many said that they would go to the park in the morning to try to run into Fat Gor!

The film's official social media outlet also confirmed Fat Gor's morning running in Chaoyang Park three days in a row. "Good morning everyone. Today also opens with Fat Gor's running style. Our film PROJECT GUTENBERG's running team again expands! Fat Gor punched the card and ran in Chaoyang Park for the third day in a row! Reportedly many runners went to Chaoyang Park to run into Fat Gor. Some did not believe Fat Gor was able to run for three days straight and they truly ran into him again! Runner friends who were fortunate enough to run into Fa Gor, please post all your selfies and pics!" Fat Gor was found with a big group of people running with him.

PROJECT GUTENBERG's other star Aaron Kwok Fu Sing earlier appeared on Fantastic TV with director Felix Chong Man Keung to share their new film experience. Aaron stated that he appreciated Director Chong's work and decided to take the role before even getting a script. In addition the new film subject was different from Director Chong's past work. The characters were complicated, thus he did all his homework and read the script six times before he was finally able to completely grasp the character. Director Chong said that because currency counterfeiting was a sensitive subject, since coming up with the story in 2008 he did not find an investor until 2014. For a realistic portrayal, the team bought a real printer to print the prop in the film. Director Chong said that he did not deliberately write the line "Art is doing anything to its best", as it was the truth. Aaron also agreed that doing everything to their best was truth. Life must be an endless pursuit for improvement for it not to be wasted.

When asked how this character was different from his previous ones and what kind of spark did Aaron have with Fat Gor again since COLD WAR 2, Aaron said, "This character was a bullied character, as soon as he saw Fat Gor he was already being bullied." Director Chong said that Fat Gor's "Fat Kee General Store" was open daily, which made the team gain a lot of fat. Speaking of Fat Gor's character, Director Chong stated that Fat Gor would bring back his classic characters from THE KILLER, A BETTER TOMORROW and ONCE A THIEF to put Fat Gor's charm on full display. As for how these classics would appear again, everyone would have to see the movie to find out.
