The Hung Kuen master of a generation Lau Kar Leung passed away last June. His tablet will be installed on February 13 in Po Fook Hill. His widow Mary Jean Reimer (Yung Jing Jing) had special requests for the tombstone. After 3 months of preparation and production it was finally completed. Earlier a test installation took place. Yung Jing Jing put the plaque design on facebook. She said that for half years she received support from friends even with this plaque for Lau Kar Leung, for which she was very touched.
Yung Jing Jing purchased 15 connected centered niches. Reportedly the highest prices were 520,000, 7.8 million were spent on the spots. Yung Jing Jing yesterday announced on facebook the arrangement of the Lau Kar Leung tablet installment. The ceremony will take place on February 13 at noon. Lau Kar Leung's son Wing Keung and daughter Man Yi will host the ceremony, with Ling Wan Temple's nuns chanting scriptures. On the day a ceremony will also take place in Guangzhou for another one of Lau Kar Leung's niches so he would be able to return home.
The two sides of the plaque had the Hung Kuen formula. Lau Kar Leung's black and white photo would replace the traditional ceramic photo. In the middle of plaque was "Master Lau Kar Leung". On the plaque were pictures of the 18 types of weapons. Yung Jing Jing thanked Terence in particular for the assistance online. He provided the material for the plaque, design and etching.
Yung Jing Jing said that from Lau Kar Leung's funeral to the conception of the plaque, she asked to reduce the fear of death and mixed kung fu and film. When she saw the plaque at its completion she breathed a sigh of relief. She felt that she has already done her best, as it was like a work of art. "At the initial design I had no concept about shadow carving so I went to facebook for help. Luckily I ran into Terence who worked with stone and provided advice. Later with the design, etching to transportation, he provided both financial and physical assistance. Terence respects Lau Kar Leung and likes to watch his films,so he provided a lot of help to me." Yung Jing Jing said that when Lau Kar Leung, she wanted to die from the sorrow. A group of facebook friends provided her with support and made her feel like many people were with him. Even her driver introduced online friends to her as she felt the love of humanity.
