The 52nd Golden Horse Award will take place on November 21st at the Taipei Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. Mickey Huang and Lin Chiling will be the hosts. The event yesterday held a Taipei press conference to announce its nominations. Director Hou Hsiao-Hsien's first wuxia film THE ASSASSIN received 11 nominations. The Aaron Kwok Fu SIng starred PORT OF CALL (DAP HUET CHUM MUI) received 9 nominations including Best Actor, Best Feature, Best Supporting Actor and Best Cinematography. In the film new actor Michael Ning (Bak Ji) was nominated for New Performer and Best Supporting Actor awards.

The event yesterday announced that Hou Hsiao-Hsien would also receive the Outstanding Taiwan Filmmaker award for his outstanding achievement, uncompromising ways to bring Taiwan film to the international stage and making his mark creatively.

As for the Chang Tso-Chi's THANATOS, DRUNK received ten nominations. Best Actress nominees included OFFICE (WA LAI SEUNG BAN JOOK)'s Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga), ZINNIA FLOWER's Karena Lam Ka Yun, THE ASSASSIN'S Shu Qi, OUR TIMES' Vivian Sung and MOUNTAINS MAY DEPART's Zhao Tao; Best Actor nominees included THANATOS, DRUNK's Lee Hong-Chi, PORT OF CALL's Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, MR. SIX's Feng Xiaogang, THE DEAD END's Deng Chao and DELAN's Dong Zijian.

Currently working on his film COLD WAR 2 (HONG JIN 2), Kwok Fu Sing said, "As an actor, I do my best to perform every character. After giving my all i sincerely see the nomination as an enormous encouragement and recognition. I am very happy. This time I am even more excited about PORT OF CALL's nine nominations than my own. Nothing came easy for this film. The nominations also proved that everyone's persistence was correct."

Lam Ka Yun said, "Thank you Golden Horse, Director Lin Shu-Yu. After five years away from film, I felt like starting from zero with everything. It truly is a great encouragement for a "New Again Performer" like me." In addition Shu Qi only simply replied, "I am very happy, thank you everyone."
