The Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Jessie Li (Chun Xia) and Michael
Ning (Bak Ji) starred film PORT OF CALL (DAP HUET CHUM MUI) yesterday was
confirmed to be the Hong Kong representative in competition for the Oscar
Best Foreign Film nomination. This film won seven major awards at the
Hong Kong Film Awards. As for Taiwan, the Kai Ko Chen-Tung starred new
film THE ROAD TO MANDALAY did not qualify because it was not released
long enough there. Instead LOKAH LAQI will compete. No news on which
film will compete for Mainland China yet.
Kwok Fu Sing was excited. "I am very excited to learn that PORT
OF CALL will represent Hong Kong to compete for a Best Foreign Film
Oscar nomination. I am also very honored. This is the honor of the
entire team. I also am sincerely happy for director (Philip) Yung Tsz
Kwong and the entire team. Everyone back then firmly and persistently
made this subject that cared about Hong Kong, this passion was correct.
This truly was a very pure Hong Kong film, thank you investors for your
trust. No matter how the nominations go, everyone is already very
encouraged and excited. Everyone will continue to make excellent films
with this encouragement."
Although lead actress Chun Xia was working in Miyun, she was
happy about PORT's recognition. "I am sincerely happy for this film!
PORT OF CALL nowadays is not a 'big' movie. It is a 'small' movie. Yet
this 'small' made me feel it was even more intimate and liked it. Today
everyone recognize it, giving it a chance, permitting it to represent
Hong Kong, it is very rare and very emotional. It means that everyone
respect and value this type of 'small'. We as creators are grateful and
humble, ultimately this film's journey has already gone further than we
thought. Thank you everyone."

was on the edge of death. Her members dove into the river to save her.
Joyce during the shoot could not help but cry. "I remember that day was
my birthday. My character was very clumsy. The scene in which I fell
into the rapids was the most terrifying. Before I jumped I cried. I
haven't been married or had children, I had a lot that I haven't done
yet. I didn't want to die!"
The ladies walked the rope bridge in the woods. Jeana was extra
excited. "I like excitement, now I want to try sky diving. Fear of
heights or water to me is no problem. Yet during the shoot everyday I
lacked sleep and was exhausted physically. I was so tired that when I
got back to the hotel I would fall asleep in three minutes!"

One day, a monster from outer space attacks Earth and even Superman can no longer be counted on. It seems Earth’s last hope lies in...a dork and a rice cooker?
Grown up in a small fishing village, McDull has no black mask, no red underwear, not to mention superpower. McDull has such an ambition that with his great enthusiasm for science, he will one day become an inventor. Suddenly, a giant monster invades Earth and defeats the widely believed Earth hero - Superman. At this critical moment, people from all over the world are called for participation in an international robot competition to find the most powerful robot to fight the monster.
With no much resource but some cheap home appliances, McDull converts a rice cooker into his world-saving robot: the Rizo. Unexpectedly, McDull’s low-tech invention enters the final competition. When one can’t count on superheroes to save our planet from outerspace monsters, who do we turn to? That’s right! A pig head and a rice pot!
Mcdull has no black masks or red underwear, and certainly not supernatural powers. He is just an ordinary boy growing up in a fishing village and dreaming of growing up to become an inventor.
One day, an outerspace monster invades the Earth and makes mincemeat of the superhero sent to meet him. So world leaders call on all citizens to design a super robot, to defeat the outerspace monster and save the Earth.
Mcdull, who is scant of resources but plenty resourceful, starts fiddling with his mom’s household appliances. From a humble rice cooker, he designs a low-tech high-power robot: Risopot, and makes it to the final of the World Robot Design Competition. The whole fishing village is jubilant. To produce Risopot, everybody chips in, including the principal of the village school. And Mrs. Mak, Mcdull’s mom and the village fishball maker, works triple hard to meet the expenses. Risopot looks dumb and his functions are a joke. But with extraordinary tenacity and lots of dumb luck, he emerges the winner.
Now the responsibility of saving the Earth falls squarely on the shoulders of Mcdull and Risopot. The outerspace monster will be upon the Earth again any time soon. The world leaders are having summit meetings and seem to be up to something. The pig head and rice pot combo, still a laughing stock, can they really save our planet? And the outerspace monster, why does he time and again invade the Earth?

worship ceremony. Eric admitted that after working with Master Sin on
the upcoming film release OUR DAYS (NGOR MOON DIK 6E BAN) he has always
thought about studying kung fu. Master Sin immediately sparred with him.
Master Sin said that Eric had potential to be an action actor.
"After the movie, Eric wanted to keep learning and training in kung fu.
He is an artist with a lot of heart and has a little kung fu background.
He has a lot of potential to be an action actor. Normally I wouldn't
openly accept students, I only teach people I know well. After he heard
he even joked that he wouldn't mind being Chan Ka Wun's junior colleague."
Playing a couple with Eric in the new film, Yip Chi Yu has a Tae Kwan Do
black belt and was a Wing Chun coach. She kept on trying to get Eric to
talk about kung fu.
In addition, Master Sin also said that after the school
relocation, he would get even more equipment to prepare for a better
training environment for the students. "A world Wing Chun championship
is on the way, then everyone can train in the school."

Gillian Chung Yun Tung said that she guest starred for the film
for two days. Lately she has been busy with her Shanghai concert on the
24th. At the end of next month she will perform another show in Macau
and more stops are being planned for the tour next year. Ah Gil said
that recently she took a Mainland series role and will shoot in Xinjiang
and Hengdian. She said that she has never been to Xinjiang. Since she
did not like the cold she would get a hot water bottle. As for Steven
Cheung Chi Hung admitting to "cheating" with a Taiwan girl, Ah Gil said

Carlos Chan Ka Lok's film with Kara Wai Ying Hung, HAPPINESS (HUNG
WON SI NGOR) made HK$ 2 million at the box office but won all the word of
mouth. THus he still would take everyone to dinner, but definitely would
not celebrate by going skinny dipping. Since the film was a family film
that would seem inappropriate. He was pleased with his steel beam shape
and could consider it next time. Ka Lok will head to Thailand for a
horror film. He said that it would be his fourth horror film this year.
Television Best Actress Ada Choi Siu Fun in the film S
STORM (S FUNG BO) played a key ICAC member who assisted Louis Koo Tin
Lok in a case. The articulate Ada stated that the complicated
professional dialogue led to several bad takes. "I have always been
articulate, but I have a lot of information to deliver. I can't make
any mistake! (Did you break your record?) No, back then with my first
television series REVELATION OF THE LAST HERO (FUNG JI DOH) I had 40
bad takes. The crew yelled at me with foul language, but I deserved
it. It was a lesson." Speaking of the fresh out of the oven Miss Hong
Kong Crystal Fung Ying Ying was revealed to have used foul language, Ada
said, "Anyone would use a little foul language, but it would depend on
when. (When you yell at your husband?) I wouldn't dare! Sometimes when
I am driving and someone cuts me over, I would be upset and used some
adjectives. However sometimes when my daughter hears it she would learn,
so it's not that good." As for working with Louis Koo Tin Lok, Julian
Cheung Chi Lam and Vic Chou Yu Man without any intimate scene, Ada said,
"It's a little regrettable. I hope next time I would be dating them!
I have no problem with intimate scene, but it wouldn't go too far. It's
not that my husband would permit it, it's that I am conservative."
