The Emperor Motion Picture OPERATION RED SEA received the Best Film nomination for the 28th Golden Rooster Hundred Flower Film Festival and the 32nd Golden Rooster Awards. The film's director Dante Lam Chiu Yin was the only Hong Kong director to be nominated for Best Director. Actress Jiang Luxia was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Lam Chiu Yin stated that he was rather excited.

OPERATION RED SEA last year swept 5 awards including Best Feature Film and Best Director at the 34th Hundred Flower Award. This time it again was highly recognized at the Golden Rooster Award. Lam Chiu Yin happily said, "Viewers voted for Hundred Flower Award, I was already very happy with the awards last time. Golden Rooster is professional jury selected, for a second year in a row I am able to participate with OPERATION RED SEA. Naturally I am extra excited! I hear that this year the award will take place in Xiamen. I once worked in Xiamen for my new film THE RESCUE (GUNG GUP GAU WOON), which adds another layer of connection!"

Lam Chiu Yin also revealed that the biggest pressure came from THE RESCUE's post production, which was an unprecedented investment with stunts and special effects beyond any imagination. He stated that THE RESCUE would be 5 or 6 times more surprising than RED, thus he kept asking the bosses to add to the budget. Yet the Spring Festival golden period's competition will be fierce, no one could relax at all. In addition with the subject of THE RESCUE, once he decided to make it he had to do so with the strongest conviction in order to elevate Chinese film to the next level.

courtesy of singtao.com

The Chrissie Chau Sau Na and Louis Cheung Kai Chung starred film HOTEL SOUL GOOD (NUI WONG JONG DOH JING) was nominated for the 2nd National Film and Television Awards' Best Foreign Film Award in the U.S. It was the only Asian film to receive the nomination as it would compete with 11 films from around the world. The award ceremony will take place in December in Los Angeles.

Sister Na in recent years had many films to be selected for foreign film festival. She felt fortunate that the film was able to break through geographical and language barriers to spread the message to viewers around the world. Sister Na also recalled how limited time and resource were on the production. Luckily the team was full of enthusiasm and passion, which made her felt the power of youth. It was absolutely a beautiful memory.

The film A WITNESS OUT OF THE BLUE (FAN JUI YIN CHEUNG) two nights ago held a premiere at Kowloon Bay. Actors Louis Koo Tin Lok, Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen), Louis Cheung Kai Chung, Philip Keung Ho Man, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei and Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling attended. Since both Koo Tin Lok and Keung Ho Man's birthdays were on October, the crew presented a birthday cake to celebrate with them. That night, a woman claiming to be Goo Jai's wife was also present.

Many industry insiders showed their support, among them was the a recent signee to Goo Jai's company Raymond Wong Ho Yin, as well as Mimi Kung Chi Yan, Chan Kin On, Jennifer Yu Heung Yi and Danny Chan Bing Chuen. During the premiere, a woman who spoke Putonghua kept waving to Goo Jai outside the venue. She called him hubby and claimed to be Goo Jai's wife, then she kept shaking the barricade. When security approached, the woman suddenly screamed. After a few yells when she said a wave of reporters rushing up to take photos, she smiled again and raised a victory sign. Her behavior was odd. Goo Jai was unaffected on the stage as he continued with the ceremony.

Just turned 49 on the 21st, Goo Jai revealed that he wished for good health on his birthday because only with health would he be able to do anything else. This year he had dinner with friends on his birthday. On the actual day he celebrated with his family. In past years Goo Ja would celebrate with fans but this year he cancelled it because he was worried about traffic issues.

Good friend Suen Huen revealed that she gave a birthday present to Goo Jai, but she did not reveal what it was. She said that it was rather suitable for Goo Jai. She said that she would put down her friends' birthdays on her notebook. Each time when she saw the reminder she would text her friends to congratulate them. Her friends would be very happy. Did Goo Jai like Suen Huen's gift? He said that he really did and said that he would remember her birthday. However Suen Huen said, "He was one day late! He should remember it for the rest of his life."

As for box office performance, Goo Jai admitted that he had expectations. As an actor he gave his all to the performance, but the box office was beyond his control. Of course he hoped that everyone would enjoy it. Suen Huen admitted that she felt the box office pressure, ultimately she could not just leave it after she was done. She still had to answer for some things.

When asked whether he and Suen would have further collaborations after BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI), Goo Jai said, "We would, (what kind of characters would you play?) Suen Huen wants to play a villain, but for now we don't have anything planned." Suen Huen revealed that she has seen an American television series about a doctor with autism. She would like to give that a try since she would have the chance.

This Saturday (the 26th) would Keung Ho Man's 53rd birthday. He said that every October he would be busy with celebrations because his wife's birthday and their wedding anniversary were also close. Thus he would continue to celebrate. After 20 years of marriage, what would he give his wife for her birthday and their anniversary? He said that he asked his wife to get what she liked. In the end she bought jewelry, since his money all went to her anyway. He said, "This year we would have dinner with our family to celebrate. Originally every year my wife and I would go on vacation, but this year I will have to work. However I am very happy that I get to cut cakes at work."

Cheung Kai Chung revealed that in the film he often had to open fire, which made him very nervous and slept wrong on his neck. He also praised many elders like Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Koo Tin Lok and Sean Lau Ching Wan for looking cool with a gun. He in comparison still had a long way to go. He joked that later if he would have another chance to make a crime film he would learn to hold a gun first. Did his wife comfort him over his stiff neck? He joked that each time he had an arm injury he would exaggerate it ten times in hopes for more compassion. His son would also ask about the shoot. He also said, "When my son gets older, I want to take him to the set so he can understand how tough Papa's job is. He can also learn about the different jobs and admire each profession."

[2019.10.22] IRENE WAN HOPES TO WIN HONG KONG FILM AWARD BEST ACTRESS WITH NEW FILM

courtesy of mingpao.com

The film THE FALLEN (DOR LOK FA) starred Irene Wan Bik Ha and Kenny Kwan Chi Bun. Since its production began it already caught attention, it was even selected for this year's Hong Kong Asian Film Festival. Irene and Kenny both agreed, "I believe THE FALLEN will bring a tremendous surprise to the audience!"

Irene has always had a film dream, when she ran into a good script she would be incredibly excited. "When I read THE FALLEN's script I immediately fell in love with it. This character was addicted to drugs and often had hallucinations, which were very attractive to an a actor due to their rather high degrees of difficulty for the performance; Since the shoot began, cinematography, art, visual effects, acting, everything have been perfect. I was very pleased with the test screening and very much looking forward to the audience's reaction!" Having expressed her desire for the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress long ago, would Irene's expectation would increased due to all the attention from the film festival? She said, "If I say no, would you believe me? This has always been my dream. Since I started acting at age 15, I was already nominated for the Hong Kong Film Award Best New Performer with LONELY FIFTEEN and HAPPY SIXTEEN. They made me set the goal since I was young to become an outstanding actor; this time I have already given my greatest effort to THE FALLEN performance. The most important is for everyone to like this film. An award undoubtedly would be the ultimate dream. I would leave that up to fate. If Heaven blesses me with it, I would gladly accept it."

Recently Philip Keung Ho Man performed voice work for his film DYNASTY WARRIORS (JUNG SAM GOK MO SEUNG). Because both Hak Jai and director Roy Chow Hin Yeung had October birthdays, Hak Jai's manager earlier prepared a chocolate cake for them as a surprise. Hak Jai earlier worked on DYNASTY WARRIORS in New Zealand and could not forget the production wrap cake that Director Chow prepared for him. He said that when the New Zealand production wrapped, the cake that the director gave was very tasty. At the time he was on a diet but the sinful chocolate cake that Director Chow prepared tempted him.

Hak Jai said that during the voice work he felt the awe of the visual impact for the first time. Although he has played many costume priests, he was rather pleased with this long hair look. Director Chow said that Hak Jai played Zhang Jue, as Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei's first rival he had to have dominance. He hoped that the casting would give the audience a new surprise.

James Ng Yip Kwan and Jinny Ng Yeuk Hei yesterday attended a Yan Chai charity event. Brother Kwan still has not have the time to discuss a new contract after his record company contract came to term, as he had to go to Malaysia for the Shaw film FEI FAN SAM HUP (EXTRAORDINARY HEROIC TRIO). This time he would go for a week, half for work and half for play as he would bring his mother along. He joked that he wanted a little romance with Chrissie Chau Sau Na. 9 years ago they had a connection due to a photo book. Now they would work together and he felt that life was very wonderful. Would he have any intimate scene? He said that it was not in the script, but adjustments might be made on the set. He however would not need to get into shape to see Sister Na because his character would be more ordinary.
