J.Arie and Terence Siufay yesterday promoted the film
LION ROCK (SI JI SHAN SEUNG)'s theme song on Commercial Radio; they said
that they were in the film, but were cut out due to film length. Siufay
said, "I played a mouthy jerk, I had 5 minute screen time and thoroughly
displayed the jerk side. Now the role has been cut, and I only appear
in the promotional video." J.Arie only had half a second side shot.
"The director this time asked his film GET OUTTA HERE (SEI OI DI LA)'s
original cast to perform. Originally my character Apple would extend
the romance with (Alex) Lam Tak Shun from last time, but it wasn't
used." Although it was regrettable, she was not mad at the director
because they were good friends. J.Arie said, "It was already great for
him to ask us to work together again. Although the scene was cut, we
still got paid. For the song we still had a clay pot chicken meal."
Due to the tension in Hong Kong, Siufay hoped that the film
would cheer everyone on. The box office was not the most important.
J.Arie understood that people would be in danger on the streets and might
not be in the mood to see the movie. She could only do all she could
for the release now. "This is an 100% Hong Kong film, under safe
conditions everyone could support it." Siufay said that he supported the
students and his heart ached when universities became battlefields.
J.Arie said that last week she was scheduled to perform at the Chinese
University. "The most important was everyone's safety, we will take one
step at a time. Now is not the time to talk about making a living
first."

During the last day of court hearings in a sensational murder trial in Hong Kong, one of the jury members, a famous hypnotherapist, receives a video showing his daughter being kidnapped. The kidnappers are demanding that he hypnotize the jury in order to control the final verdict. How will he choose between justice and family? What will he do to save his daughter?

It is the last day in the trial of a controversial murder case. Zen, as a jury member, learns that his daughter was kidnapped before the deliberation began. He is forced to find the defendant guilty of murder, otherwise his daughter will die. It seems to be an impossible task for Zen since the majority of the jury believes that the accused is innocent.
The kidnappers know that Zen used to be a well-known hypnotist and they are certain that Zen can find a way to convince the jury. Also, under no circumstances should the jury be dismissed, otherwise, Zen's daughter will be dead. Zen has no option, and after eight years he uses his rusty skills to hypnotize the jury, which gets him four additional guilty votes out of six. Zen has to perform the hypnoses in an isolated small room secretly under the sight of six other jurors. Still, this is not the most difficult condition Zen has to face, because he is going against the most fundamental and important principle of hypnosis, "The subject should be informed and understood that he/she is going to participate in hypnosis; if not, the chance of a successful hypnosis will be less than 10%."
An ultimate performance of hypnosis quietly takes place in this small space.

The Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred, Wilson Yip Wai Shun
directed, Raymond Wong Pak Ming produced kung fu film series IP MAN has
become a classic in the past decade. This installment continued with
the original team to create IP MAN 4: THE FINALE, with Yuen Woo Ping as
the action director. The film has been confirmed for a December 20th
release. The IP MAN series has always added new cast members in each
installment. This time was no exception as 16 year old actress Vanda Li
joined the cast. In a classmate bullying scene, Vanda absolutely gave
her all as she was slapped until her nose bled.
In her first film Vanda already had many scenes with Yen Chi Tan.
Vanda praised him as being very friendly and great with Wing Chun like
he was born to do it. She also liked his portrayal of Ip Man, which had
both tough and tender sides.
Speaking of the classmate bullying scene in England, she
revealed that she practiced Tai Chi from morning to night for a month for
it. "Action scenes are very tough, everyday I would find different
wounds on my body. For this slap scene, I didn't expect it to be so
vicious. After the slap the director said that it looked good. At that
moment I was very happy, but after that everyone started to get scared
because my nose was bleeding. This was my first nosebleed!" Vanda
said that Lord Eight even extended her abuse scene, but in her eyes Lord
Eight was great. He had no temper and resembled her grandfather a lot.
He would even personally perform the stunts for them.
Aside from physical combat, Vanda in the film also had different
highly difficult stunts like cheerleading on wire. She said that
although she has never been a cheerleader, since she studied dance she
picked it up very quickly. "The choreography has an instructor. I
practiced with girls who already knew the routine. I really like working
with this team, I even want to join a cheerleading team in real life!"

Veteran action actor Chan Sing earlier passed away at age
82. He has made countless films, in the 60s and 70s he made mostly wuxia
films and even performed in many classic films like ACES GO PLACE (JUI
GAI PAK DONG) and THE BEAST (SHAN GAU). John Chiang Dai Wai who started
at the same period as Chan Sing lamented his passing and praised him as
a kind and good man.
When the veteran actor Chan Sing passed away, his wife contacted
her husband's good friend Ng See Yuen right away. Ng See Yuen said, "He
passed away on September 4th in Indonesia. Without any pain or illness,
he passed away in his sleep." He also said that Chan Sing immigrated to
Canada years ago. In recent years he has settled in Indonesia. Last
year he returned to Hong Kong. At the time he revealed that he was not
in a great place financially. Ng See Yuen immediately offered help with
the Hong Kong Stuntman Association. "At the time we didn't ask the
reason, we lent a hand right away. Chin Ka Lok (Association president"
immediately helped. When he learned tha Chan Sing passed away, he
asked if he could help with anything right away." Ng See Yuen even said
that Chan Sing has one son, a great piano player. Unfortunately he
passed away from cancer two years ago. At the time Chan Sing could not
be more heartbroken.
Chan Sing started in the business in the 60s. A second generation
disciple of wuxia film grandmaster director Chang Cheh, he performed in
RETURN OF THE ONE ARMED SWORDSMAN (DUK BEI DOH WONG) and HERO OF THE
WILD (DAI MO SI YU SIU BIU HAK). He started in the same period as Tommy
Tam (Ti Lung) and John Chiang Dai Wai. In the early 70s, Chan Sing after
leaving Chang Cheh worked with Ng See Yuen on movies like THE BLODDY
FISTS (TONG KAU TAN) and THE GOOD AND THE BAD (NGOR FU KONG LUNG) as the
lead. Because of his tough guy and mustache image he was called the
"Hong Kong Charles Bronson". Then he commuted between Hong Kong and
Taiwan and made many action wuxia films. Yet due to the mixed quality
of the films his career was unable to go to another level.
In the 80s, Chan Sing began to participate in other companies
different genre films, including the Sam Hui Koon Kit starred ACES GO
PLACES and the classic cult film THE BEAST. In 1996 he retired from
film and immigrated overseas. Susan Shaw Yam Yaum who worked with him
on many films expressed regret and praised Chan Sing as Mr. Nice Guy.
"He has no temper, kind, simple, tough, one nice guy." Chiang Dai Wai
said, "I worked with him on many wuxia films like THE HEROIC ONES (SUP
SAM TAI BO). He mostly played villains, but I haven't had contact with
him in the past decade or two because he immigrated. (In your impress
what kind of person was he?) He was very nice, very big. When we
worked together we were very happy. I lamented the news of his death."
Chan Sing's THE BEAST co-star Eddie Chan (Ai Dik) said, "Oh!
Sorry to hear that! In my memory, Sing Gor was a very kind elder.
Although he and I didn't have too many scenes together, I still remember
that at the time for another film a car had to run me over, he taught me
how to perform to reduce the chance of injury! May Sing Gor rest in
peace."
The Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Miriam Yeung Chin Wa starred
film I'M LIVIN' IT (MAK LO YUN) earlier made its world premiere at the
Tokyo International Film Festival and became the London East Asian Film
Festival closing film. The film was selected to be the 4th Macau
International Film Festival closing film and to be screened in December
at the Macau Cultural Center. Director Wong Hing Fan thanked the event
for the invitation and would attend with the team. He was very
encouraged by the passionate response of the past two film festival's
viewers and looked forward to the film release.
