1911 has been selected as a special opening film of the 24th Tokyo International Film Festival. Because the Tokyo Film Festival every year only selects one opening film and earlier it already announced THE THREE MUSKETEERS as the opening film, 1911 became the special opening film. This was already the first time since 1997 that it will have two opening films, which made the film festival feel even fuller.

Jackie Chan already agreed to attend the Tokyo Film Festival opening ceremony. The film festival will take place between October 22 and 30. This film was Jackie Chan's 100th film. He said, "My 100th film is selected as the Tokyo Film Festival special opening film, which I feel is a great honor. With this year Japan needs to work hard on its recovery, which makes this film festival even more meaningful. Heroes also always appear and even make sacrifices during a disaster, so I hope not to have heroes anymore. I sincerely wish my movie will be able to help ignite the determination of the Japanese people, and at the same time I look forward to be able to seeing the audience of Japan.
