The Soi Cheang Pou Soi produced, Wong Hing Fan
directed, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Gordon Lam Ka Tung
starred action crime film DISCONNECT'D (DUEN MONG) due to the pandemic
had difficulties with shooting on location. After several rounds of
adjustments they were finally completed. In the film hackers attacked
a financial organization and led to a severe internet crisis. Three
Best Actors Kwok Fu Sing, Yam Tat Sing and Lam Ka Tung in the film all
had portrayals of good and evil. Due to this crisis evolving into an
internet rap, they began attacking each others.
In the poster and the trailer, Kwok Fu Sing played an internet
security company IT expert who tensely pounded away on the keyboard
and through computer monitors traversed between the real and the
internet world. Aside from the three Best Actors, another selling
point was that the film company spent almost 20 million yuan to
create the internet jungle in the film and the virtual and actual
location crossover very detailed. Sing Sing said, "In the film we
said the internet world the internet jungle. Earlier due to the
pandemic we weren't at liberty to shoot on location, so the team
changed its plan and found a very pretty forest in Hong Kong for the
production. Because the location had towering trees in various shapes
and forms, with a little artistic designs some scenes through the
camera lenses did not need additional computer graphics to
look very pretty. The result also had certain effect and realism.
However this time the film's computer graphics team in order to create
new visions with high efficiency special effects strongly created
different layers of the internet world for the audience to have an
all new visual experience. They would be able to see various virtual
and actual crossover in different scenes, which was very apt for
this film's subject."
