[2019.05.23] STEVEN MA ADMITS TO TANTRUM AT OTHERS

Both Steven Ma and Josephine have nothing but praise for Jennifer Yu

Steven Ma Chun Wai and Josephine Koo Mei Wa after working together on the play TILL WE MEET AGAIN (SUN CHIN YEUK SEI HAU) would continue their mother and son relationship in the Ma Jai written, directed and starred film version. it would also add new actors like Jennifer Yu Heung Yi. With three jobs Ma Jai in the film would have huge mood swings, which led to a skin reaction. He even revealed that sometimes he would erupt on other people as an emotional release, but Yu Heung Yi praised Ma Jai as a nice guy. He never threw a tantrum at her!

Ma Jai, Sister Mei Wa, Yu Heung Yi yesterday attended their film TILL WE MEET AGAIN's production start ceremony. The film is planned for a November release. Ma Jai revealed, "The film version and the stage version have the same structure, still focusing on the mother and son relationship. The content has some changes and would be even more detailed and rich. The film version would have more visuals, including ones with more impact. The emotional upheaval would be enormous. Earlier we shot a scene and cried like crazy. The emotional changes caused me to have a skin reaction." Sister Mei Wa witnessed how hard Ma Jai worked and was stunned. She said, "At first I thought the film version was just talk, I never expected how fast he worked. (Did you tell him to slow down his pace?) He wouldn't listen. Two nights ago he just got back to Hong Kong and started work immediately. He seemed to not need to stop." Ma Jai explained, "I really want to cherish time, when I have the time I would spend it all. Luckily Ma (Sister Mei Wa) saved me a lot of time. Each time she took her mark she would already be in character."

Sister Mei Wa said that being an actor was very comfortable, but Ma Jai had other jobs and truly was not the ordinary "son". Ma Jai said, "Because I have several posts and I also have to lose weight for the role, sometimes I can sense my own neurosis, the mood swings, so the executive director and the assistant directors have to suffer my temper."

Speaking of working with Yu Heung Yi for the first time, Ma Jai said, "Earlier in SISTERHOOD (GWUT MUI) I noticed her and (Fish) Liew Chi Yu. Both left me with great impression. Yu Heung Yi performed very well in the film, so I asked her to audition. She would play my psychiatrist and would have a little romance." Sister Mei Wa also had nothing but praise for Yu Heung Yi. "Very few girls now are like her without any additive." Ma Jai joked, "The three of us are the no additive family."

Yu Heung Yi was very happy to have Ma Jai and Sister Mei Wa singing her praises. In addition this character came from an audition. She had to compete with many people and in the end received everyone's recognition. Earlier during the table read Sister Mei Wa pointed out that she has seen her movies, which caught her off guard. As for Sister Mei Wa's praise of no additive, she joked, "I just look ordinary, so today I am a little swollen. Mr. Ma is also very friendly, very sharp and nice. Despite being in numerous jobs he still has proper grasp and provides me with a lot of confidence. (Did he throw a tantrum at you?) No, he is very patient. However later I will have a scene that I have to break down and cry in, I hope Mr. Ma would accept the take. This time I play a psychiatrist, I have to memorize a lot of professional medical terms and read a lot of psychology information. In my next time I happen to play a mental patient, maybe because everyone feels I am a little crazy, haha!"

She revealed that she would work until July before having time off. She already planned to visit Greece for 10 days with her mother and sister. When she was not single before, she did not need to plan too much on vacation. Now she has to personally plan the itinerary. Her mother also said that if she knew she would have joined a tour and get more understanding on the history. Now she had to do homework even on historical background so she could be the tour guide then."

Tony Leung Ka Fai in his new film CHASING THE DRAGON II WILD WILD BUNCH (JUI LUNG II CHAK WONG) played a crime lord of a generation Cheung Chi Keung. The public learned little about the character, mostly from the cases that was uncovered after his arrest. Leung Ka Fai earlier spoke with Hong Kong Open Television host Cathy Chek Wing Shan about the character and memorable scenes, as well as his sweet life with his wife.

The crime lord of a generation Cheung Chi Keung's story has been adapted many times with many actors, but the public knew little about the character. Cathy asked would this add to the difficulty of grasping the character for Leung Ka Fai? Leung Ka Fai said, "The public doesn't know much, which actually to the actor is a good thing. The look and the character have no chance for impersonation, which instead can provide even greater degree of creative freedom." Leung Ka Fai also recalled in one of the scenes, he brought many durians to share with the brothers. Due to different angles, he had a lot. He joked, "I had to walk while I ate, I remembered Props ordered several cases of Gold Pillow. I alone probably had two to three cases. Now whenever durian is mentioned I would immediately be shaking in my boots!"

Stephy Tang Lai Yun and Ling Man Lung two days ago worked on their film CHAN YING HUNG GAN (RUINED SHADOW SPACE) at a senior home. It happened to be Ling Man Lung's 33rd birthday, for which the team presented a cake and sang the birthday song. He was very touched. "When work started I was mentally prepared to play this character with psychological disorder. I didn't expect that at dinner someone would celebrate my birthday. I was surprised, happy and touched, but after that I had to pick up my emotions again to play a not so happy role." As for his birthday wish he said, "I hope that my creations and my work would be able to affect culture and society. This is my dramatic dream."

[2019.05.22] DAVID SIU REQUIRES FIVE STITCHES FROM CAMERA ACCIDENT

courtesy of on.cc

David Siu Chung Hung two days ago while working on the film MO YEH CHA (MOTHER NIGHT FORK) hit his head on the camera and went to the hospital for five stitches. Yesterday he said, "The shot had me running into the camera, maybe because the environment was too muggy everyone was a little tired. The crew accidentally rammed the camera into me." Although blood was streaming down, he did not want to affect the production and kept working despite the pain. After the shoot the crew rushed him to the hospital for treatment. Would he stop working and rest? He said that yesterday he originally was resting, today's scenes would be postponed as he would return to work tomorrow.

[2019.05.22] ROSE CHAN CALLS BOSCO WONG "THOSE PEOPLE"

courtesy of singao.com

The film FUN YUN DIK TUNG WA? (THE FAIRY TALE OF MARRIAGE?) two nights ago held a production wrap banquet. Rose Chan Ka Wun, Jacquelin Chong Sze Man, Michael Kwan Lai Kit, Connie Man Hoi Kit and Checkley Sin Kwok Lam attended.

Chan Ka Wun revealed that in the film she would play a third party that interjected into Kwai Lai Kit's marriage. They had a hotel scene. Originally she was arranged to wear a bathrobe but Master Sin at the last minute asked her to appear only in a towel. That day happened to be that time of the moth for her, she felt weak and during the shoot she was completely cold. "Brother Kit was worried that I would catch a cold. In that scene we had skin to skin contact. Everyone should go to see how it would turn out!"

Lately Ka Wun has been linked to Bosco Wong Chung Chap. Did she celebrate on May 20th? Ka Wun joked, "520 only is I love you in Putonghua, in Cantonese it don't love you." Did Bosco make his feeling known? She said that she would not call "those people" and had to go to dinner with the team. Was she not afraid that calling Bosco "those people" would make him very disappointed? Ka Wun said that she had to focus on dinner with the team and would not pay him any mind.

Chong Sze Man in the film played a socialite. The performance was more relaxed, whenever she appeared she was be at afternoon tea or sunbathing at sea. "520" did not make her feel bad. She admitted that she would be careful with the opposite sex and joked that swindlers would never run out of ideas. She even said that someone who has said that he would divorce his wife wanted to pursue her. Thus she would observe careful and even rely on her friends to remind her. She also went drinking with a suitor once, after he got drunk he turned to pursue her female friends. Since then she was no longer in contact with him.

Taiwan group Mayday two nights ago came to Hong Kong to attend the 3D MAYDAY LIFE premiere. Ashin mentioned that earlier Tony Leung Ka Fai was a guest at their concert and in their music video. "Brother Ka Fai made the concert better. Maybe the new generation doesn't know that actually Brother Ka Fai has released a record before." Leung Ka Fai also performed in the film 3D MAYDAY LIFE. Ashin was very moved and definitely would invite him to watch it. The film not only had Mayday concert footage but also the band in heroic roles and action scenes. They hoped that the Easter egg at the end would bring the audience a surprise. He said that the 3D version would be more awesome as the audience would feel the rocking effect. They said, "Everyone has a hero in their hearts. They should be more confident in themselves because even Mayday can become heroes. However, making the film actually is a physical challenge because it has a lot of action scenes."

[2019.05.22] FRUIT CHAN BUILDS A FULL SCALE LIGHT RAIL CAR FOR MAX ZHANG TO TURN UPSIDE DOWN

courtesy of on.cc
courtesy of mingpao.com

Max Zhang Jin and Juju Chan Yuk Wan in the film INVINCIBLE DRAGON (GAU LUNG BUK BAI) had a fight scene inside a traveling light rail train, turning it upside down in the process. Director Fruit Chan Gor said that at first he consulted the light rail company whether he could use its train for the shoot, but due to space restriction in the end he decided to build a 1 to 1 scale light rail car.

Zhang Jin said that fighting inside a rolling light rail car was a great challenge to actors. Sometimes during the fight h would lose any sense of direction. "Angle, speed and continuity altogether with having to fight inside a narrow light rail car, I sometimes had no idea which way was up and which way was down. However the harder it is to make, the better the result is and the more exciting it looks." Working with Chan Yuk Wan for the first time, Zhang Jin praised her for her courage. She would not scream over minor injuries, bumps and bruises. Chan Yuk Wan said, "I had to jump over seats, or grab the poles in the middle to transfer energy to the fight. Some moves might even resemble pole dancing. Action director mixed kung fu with pole dancing spins. The shoot in comparison was highly difficult and caused bruises easily, but the result was very pretty and well worth the effort."

Justin Cheung Kin Sing, Linah Matsuoka and Jeana Ho Pui Yu worked on the film DECEPTION OF THE NOVELIST (JOK GA DIK FONG YIN: BUK JUNG YAU JUI). Justin while testing their marks at a swimming pool slipped and fell toward the edge of the pool, chipping his tooth. As one of the producers he toughed out the pain for the production and even put the real situation in the film. "At the time of course it hurt, but since that was the case I just directly put it into the film. Thus the scene was very realistic. Only after the shoot did I go to the dentist."

In addition, Jeana gained 15 pounds for the film and rapidly lost it two weeks after the film wrapped up production.

Louis Koo Tin Lok, Kay Tse On Kay and Christine Kuo yesterday attended a skin care brand charity event. Goo Jai and Kay worked together on a song before. Goo Jai said that Kay just talked with him about working together on a movie and felt that her idea was decent. Kay admitted that she recommended herself to Goo Jai and hoped something would come of it.

Goo Jai yesterday after the event immediately returned to Guizhou for his film BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI). Goo Jai told Kay to hurry up and visit the set because her husband Louis Cheung Kai Chung was there as well. Has she thought about working as a couple? Kay said, "It doesn't have to be a couple gig. Now both of our careers have potential, but I won't resist it. For now nothing has been suitable yet." Goo Jai revealed that BACK TO THE PAST's production progress has been ideal as 1/3 has already been made. Some dangerous stunts have been successfully completed as well. In the film this time everyone male or female had to fight. Cheung Kai Chung even had to fight against several dozen by himself. Goo Jai praised how sharp Ah Chung was, to getting into shape he could watch what he ate. Has Ah Chung complained to Kay about how tough the production has been? Kay said, "No, he is someone who is very willing to contribute to work, for example he has been on a diet for two years. He probably would rather enjoy the fight scenes!" Goo Jai was asked to tempt Ah Chung with more treats. Goo Jai said, "It's more remote there, so there isn't much good to eat. However Guizhou's temperature hasn't been too high, just more humid. We had to be in costume for wire work, one day Ah Chung and I stood one legged on the wire for a whole day. It really was tough to take!"

Irene Wan Bik Ha earlier went to shoot on location in Thailand for her film THE FALLEN (DOR LOK FA). Upon arrival she took advantage of every second at work. The temperature there reached 35 degrees Celsius, which left her drenched. The team prepared umbrella and fan for her, as well as shaved ice and delicious desserts for her to beat the heat.

Wan Bik Ha thanked the team for their attentive arrangement, but this time the production schedule was very intense. For the 7AM call she had to get up at 5AM for hair and makeup. She had no time to go out at all. Thailand was truly too hot. Despite all her precaution against the sun she was still sweating bullets. Wan Bik Ha was very professional and without any complaint. "For three days in a row we were on location, it was hot like a sauna. The team had it just as tough as the actors, so we had to put more effort into our performance and not to waste everyone's effort."

Dante Lam Chiu Yin's new film THE RESCUE (GUNG GUP GAU WOON) after 6 months of intense productions yesterday announced its production wrap in Mexico. Lam Chiu Yin even took Eddie Peng Yu-Yan and dove 30 feet below underwater to the "rescue unit"'s daily work location to open bottles of champagne to celebrate the production wrap.

Director Lam Chiu Yin and lead Peng Yu-Yan's underwater champagne celebration left many in awe. This was an unique way to wrap up production and showed the film's mad production condition.

Director Lam Chiu Yin's "Demon Nature" was better than before in THE RESCUE. To meet the story's demands, actors joined the team early before the production began to focus on their training. With a diving certificate already Peng Yu-Yan also specialized in free diving training. Everyday he persisted in physical training with everyone. Ian Wang spent more than in the gym than in bed to get into beyond expectation shape. Xin Zhilei also learned all swimming styles and diving. After the shoot began everyday she still had to continue the 6 hour underwater training.

The military training format of eating, drinking and training together not only provided the "rescue unit" with the physical conditions to meet the demands but also enabled the unit to be filled with the spirit of unity from the start of the shoot. As actors gradually wrapped up productions, Eddie Peng Yu-Yan, Ian Wang, Xin Zhilei, Wang Yutian, Xu Yang, Li Mincheng and others thanked the team and the director on social media and reluctantly bid farewell.

THE RESCUE cost over HK$ 800 million. The team, in order to perfectly bring to life the rescue heroes' daily lives and various dangerous situations, not only constructed a sea rescue command center in Fuzhou but also shot on location in Mexico to achieve the most realistic disaster scenes. This meant that THE RESCUE would be even more international. Lam Chiu Yin gathered the industry's top filmmakers for this film, including the gold label producer Candy Leung Fung Ying, Oscar Best Cinematography award winner Peter Pau Tak Hei, Oscar winner for Best Visual Effects John Frazier, TITANIC artist Martin Laing, OPERATION RED SEA's veteran English special effect make up director Matthew Smith.

The wrap also took place during the Cannes Film Festival, where THE RESCUE landed on the cover of the Variety Cannes edition.

Gong Li spoke to the Mainland media at the Cannes Film Festival. Speaking of playing the women's national volleyball team coach Lang Ping in the Peter Chan Ho Sun directed film, Gong Li revealed that currently they were still discussing the script. Chan Ho Sun hoped to be able to make an international film as Chinese Women's National Volleyball Team should march toward the world. She expressed that she was very honored to be able to play Coach Lang Ping, but she worried that she would not perform well. She would have some sport technical difficulties as it was a territory that she has never been in touch with before. As soon as she joined the team she would have to start to prepare and spend everyday with volleyball. She said that she wanted to challenge characters that she has never played before, but she felt that she would not be able to play young characters. She said, "I wouldn't like to, nor would I be able to." Was she interested in directing? She said no. "Going one thing well in a lifetime is enough for me -- being a good actor."
