Hong Kong actor Ben Yuen Fu Wa with TRACEY (CHUI SZE) was nominated for his first Golden Horse Award and won the Best Supporting Actor award in first shot.

Hitting on his first try for the Supporting Actor award, Yuen Fu Wa said, "To me, this is not just an award. This is a recognition for an art workers of 30 years. It confirms my decision to become a stage actor. Thank you to the TRACEY cast and crew and the director."

On the red carpet, Golden Horse Best Director nominee Zhang Yimou said that the entire team was very happy about the numerous nominations. Deng Chao held hands with wife Sun Li in a black and gold dress. Deng Chao said that playing two characters in the film, the most difficult was playing a couple with his wife and the double as well. When he faced his wife he would be more confused. Sun Li was asked if they would like to win together, she said, "The nomination is already an encouragement, I am already very happy!"

Nominated for Best Actress again with LAST LETTER, Zhou Xun was dressed in gold. She said that she might direct like Rene Liu (Lau Yeuk Ying). Xu Zheng was nominated for Best Actor with DYING TO SURVIVE. He said that he rather enjoyed every second of the nomination. Best Actor and Best Actress nominee Roy Chiu and Hsieh Ying-Hsuan received screams as soon as they appeared due to the popularity of Roy Chiu. Hsieh Ying-Husan stole the spotlight with her gold dress. First time Golden Horse Best Actress nominees with THREE HUSBANDS, Zeng Meihuizi was in a gold sequenced dress. TRACEY's Supporting Actress nominee Kara Wai Ying Hung entered with the team. She admitted that the most memorable was the divorce scene with Philip Keung Ho Man. US AND THEM's new director nominee Rene Liu was dressed in black and walked the red carpet with Eason Chan Yik Shun.

As for guest presenters, Vivian Hsu was dressed in fiery red, Kwai Lun Mei was in black. Sammo Hung Kam Bo and wife Joyce Godenzi (Go Lai Hung) were arm in arm and looked very loving. Law Kar Ying and Yuen King Tan were invited to present an award together. Brother Kar Ying even sang a few verses of ONLY YOU. Jury chair Gong Li, guest presenters Andy Lau Tak Wa and Carina Lau Ka Ying arrived to close out the red carpet ceremony. This event also invited Eason Chan Yik Shun, Wang Leehom and Karen Mok Man Wai to be guest performers. Wang Leehom opened the show. Chan Yik Shun performed his nominated song WE and Mok Man Wai was the final performer.

Kara Wai Ying Hung after winning the Golden Horse Best Actress award, this time she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress with TRACEY. Sister Hung two days ago after arriving in Taiwan attended the Golden Horse award nominee party. Last night she was dressed in red. Sister Hung was more relaxed this year and even joked, "I'm back, if I don't get it I will be back next year. However last year I really wanted it!" At the nominee party, Sister Hung caught up with friends Law Kar Ying, Ng See Yuen, Joe Cheung Tung Cho and took photos. She also got pictures with Xu Zheng, Rene Liu (Lau Yeuk Ying) and others.

Jury chair Gong Li was out of breath, she joked that it was because the red carpet was too long. As for the judging process, she said that the competition between the nominees this year was very fierce. Everyone during the process had their own ideas, but it went very smoothly. The jury members were like a big family.

Andy Lau Tak Wa remembered his first Golden Horse Award attendance was around 20 years ago. The host mentioned that in 1987 he came with Joey Wang Cho Yi. Wa Jai said, "I remember my hands were shaking!" After 30 years, Wa Jai said that he was not sentimental. The most important was to keep working hard every second. Wa Jai also said that he wanted to perform a concert in Taiwan. The host even asked Wa Jai to sing a few verses of his new song MY LOVE.

Carina Lau Ka Ling said that she was very relaxed as a presenter. He just ran into friends like Lau Tak Wa and Chang Chen. Why was her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai not with her? Ka Ling joked, "Him? He is shy!"

Filmko purchased Japanese writer Kengo Ishiguro's book THE LIFE OF QUILL, THE SEEING-EYE DOG film rights to make the touching Hong Kong guide dog film LITTLE Q (SIU Q). The Japanese version QUILL already was released in 2003. LITTLE Q yesterday held a production start ceremony. Director Law Wing Cheong, actors Simon Yam Tat Wa, Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Law Chung Him, Charlie Yeung Choi Nei, Roger Kwok Chun On, Angela Yuen Lai Lam, JJ Jia attended. Yam Tat Wa in the film played a visually impaired person, the most difficult role in his film career.

Yam Tat Wa admitted that this was the hardest time in his decades in film. Aside from pretending to have no focus and looking lost in front of the camera, he also had to be led by a guide dog. Thus he could not be in control in many scenes. In one scene the guide dog led him across the road. Due to the noisy environment and the spotlights, it took six hours and 48 takes to complete. Was his Best Actor confidence shaken? Brother Wa said, "I grew up in hardship, and I also had to rely on myself to perform properly. Although the entire world knows working with dogs and children are the hardest, this time I have to be one with the dog!" However Brother Wa despite his rich performance experience still had to prepare. Before the performance he met with the first visually impaired person to use a guide dog in Hong Kong. In addition in the film seven guide dogs would take over for each other in the performance. He took each one home for a week to cultivate a relationship, which made his dog at home jealous.

Leung Wing Kei in the film played Brother Wa's sister. She said that she had quite a connection with Little Q. Earlier she provided her voice to the Japanese version. This time she would perform. She hoped to bring out positive energy through the film and make more people accept guide dogs and understand the needs of the visually impaired.

This time the film would also have touching scenes. Gigi said that she probably would be able to cry on the set because she had the heartbreaking experience of her dog passing. Now her 7 year old dog has just been hospitalized for illness, which she felt like taking care of like family. Luckily her daughter also has cultivated a relationship with the dog. She posted a video of her daughter reading and ignoring her, Gigi said, "I intend on cultivating her reading habit, for that I am happy that she ignores me!"

Yeung Choi Nei and Kwok Chun On played a couple, the guide dog's foster family as a puppy. Although she was a guest star, she said that the positive energy subject attracted her. She also got to work with her friend Leung Wing Kei, and director Law Wing Cheong very thoughtfully accommodated her schedule for her to return to Singapore to take care of her twin boys. Would she stay with Gigi in Hong Kong? Charlie said, "No, I need time to sleep when I make a movie. Because we only see each other once a year, each time we see each other we talk nonstop. Thus she can't live together!"

Law Chung Him played a guide dog association member. Although he has a dog, before the performance he still accepted 20 hours of training. He learned to use commands and a "tool" to curb the guide dog with. "Actually I learn from not knowing to knowing. I only feel I am dumb because in the process they are very smart!"

The film TRACEY (CHUI SZE) last night held a VIP screening. Lead actor Philip Keung Ho Man received support form friends Sandra Ng Kwan Yu, Ben Yuen Wai Ho, Wilfred Lau Ho Lung, Ron Ng Cheuk Hei and Kristal Tin Yui Nei.

Speaking of TRACEY's upcoming release, Hak Jai said that he was not nervous. Instead last night was like the premiere for him. Since he invited most of his friends, he definitely would hear real responses after the screening. Thus he was nervous and excited. Hak Jai's wife Kam Wai Ying last night also showed her support. He said that his wife actually has seen it twice already, but she did not have too much to say. Instead she was worried about his mood the most. Hak Jai said, "I remember when I was promoting in Japan, I was very happy in the first half hour. Then suddenly I started crying. My wife asked why I was crying! So after tonight I would let go, feeling that my job is done and I can wait for the result. Luckily all I heard have been comforting sounds!"

Ng Kwan Yu was already teary eyed when she arrived, perhaps expecting that media questions about her friend Yammie Nam Kit Ying's cremation yesterday. Kwan Yu held back her sorrow during he interview and praised Hak Jai's courage for playing a woman. Now he is no longer Hak Jai, but can be both handsome and pretty as a woman transgender. After watching his performance she definitely would speak from the heart to him. Hak Jai said that he would gladly accept her voice. Kwan Yu said that she was preparing for her next movie. Speaking of Nam Kit Yng's cremation yesterday, Kwan Yu was teary eyed and sighed. "I am upset! Now I am still upset, but life still has to be lived!" Did a lot of memories come back to her? Kwan Yu still said, "Emotionally I am upset!" As for anything memorable with Nam Kit Ying, she answered, "Having known each other for so many years, we would have some at every stage. Now I am upset, until this moment I am still upset!" Then she changed the subject and said that luckily Hak Jai invited her to the movie, so she would be able to "learn" from it. When asked about her father and brother, Kwan Yu sighed before the crew pulled her away. She did not return for the group photo.

Ng Cheuk Hei said that he already liked Brother Hak before getting into the business and felt that he was a great actor. Then they worked together on SHOCK WAVE (CHAK DAN JUEN GA) he felt that he was thoughtful and humble. Thus during the shoot he often watched from the sideline, as he felt that he was worth learning from. This time for example was already a daring attempt. Would he dare to play a woman like Brother Hak? Ng Cheuk Hei said, "No one would ask me, if they do I can. Actually I wore a dress when I was dancing before, but I have never worn stocking and heels."

The film KUNG FU MONSTER (MO LUM GWAI SAU) will open on January 3 next year in Hong Kong. Louis Koo Tin Lok, Chen Xuedong and Bea Hayden (Kwok Bik Ting) starred in the Andrew Lau Wai Keung directed and Derek Yee Tung produced film that was full of modern Hong Kong style humor, turning the martial art wold into a crazy party. Director Lau Wai Keung said, "This film looks like a costume film, but I made it like a modern film. It has a lot of funny lines and would satirize the present with the past. The martial art world on a certain level became the modern society. Whatever is happening with the society now, we would use different characters to express it."

The film released its official poster and first trailer. In the trailer the often talked about "monster" can be seen in full view. It looks more cute than "monster" like! The director said that actually whether it was a "monster" or not it only acted as a mirror. However you would treat the "monster" it would return in kind. The director also gave this "monster" a rather old school name, "Chiu Choi" (attracting money), because Hong Kong people resist that less. This "Chiu Choi" also took the director half a year's time before seeing the light of day. Thus for the director himself, this "Chiu Choi" has quite a heavy relationship with him.

For the Hong Kong release, the director even asked Lo Hoi Pang, Watermelon, Jerry Lamb Hiu Fung, Joey Man Yi Man and others to provide their voices for the Cantonese version in a lively and funny way, to make the story even more vivid and local.

Louis Koo Tin Lok and Kevin Cheng Ka Wing yesterday attended a razor press conference. Goo Jai's neck was bandaged but it was not from shaving. His cervical vertebrae was dislocated. At the end of last month he had an operation in the U.S. and would take half a year before he would fully recover.

Goo Jai said that the wound was old. Although the doctor suggested avoiding surgery, he was afraid that it would affect his films and the pain reached level 8 to 10. thus he decided to have the operation. "A few days after my birthday I flew to the U.S. for the major operation." Goo Jai said that he has always had headaches, and the dislocated vertebrae would easily contact the nerves. In severe cases all his fingers would feel numb. Thus he decided to treat the source of the problem. After the surgery Goo Jai cancelled all his jobs and rested for two weeks. From then now he would have to negotiate any action scenes in film. Ka Wing jokingly asked if he set off any metal detector at the airport, Goo Jai said, "I haven't yet because in the U.S. it's a full body scan. Maybe next time I would give it a try."

Ka Wing earlier injured his kneecap and had to have surgery to remove the pieces. The doctor also suggested for him to switch to titanium joints, which would require half a year of rest. Ka Wing said that at the time his schedule was full so he could only wait. Ka Wing said that next year he would work with Goo Jai again. Would they work together musically? Ka Wing said, "I have retired for a long time, I don't plan to return to singing yet." Goo Jai explained that earlier he sang a duet with Kay Tse On Kay as a prelude to a film. When he had the surgery he asked the doctor whether his vocal cord would be affected. Although the doctor said no, now he realized that he could not make some sound.

Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King) after CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON in 2016 worked with Lord Eight Yuen Woo Ping again on the action film MASTER Z: THE IP MAN LEGACY (IP MAN OI JUEN: CHEUNG TIN CHI). Michelle in the film played the mob's big sister, who began conflict with Max Zhang Jin over her brother Kevin Cheng Ka Wing. The team in order to bring back the 60s style invested heavily on the construction of the Cheung Lok company, as a lot of effort was put into it like interior decoration to be close to the feel of the era. When Michelle stepped onto the set she praised as though she went back in time to the 60s.

After years in film Michelle even appeared in a Chinese dress this time. She revealed that the team spent a lot of time to prepare for this look. "This is my first 60's film. At the time women all wore Chinese dresses and hairstyle like this. If I couldn't appear that way in an era film then this chance would truly be wasted. Luckily everyone liked the result. Lord Eight said, 'OK' because he has never seen me in a Chinese dress either. Lord Eight even said not to wear the Chinese dress for a fight. I said if I had to fight I wouldn't dare to wear it!"

In the film Michelle also had to try calligraphy, which to her was a huge challenge since she did not know Chinese. The team arranged for a calligraphy instructor for her. Michelle listened attentively and wrote stroke by stroke. In the middle she sad, "Luckily I didn't go to a Chinese school, otherwise if I had to write my name for punishment I would be in big trouble!" Lord Eight said, "That's right, so many strokes!" Finally Michelle's work did not disappoint. The calligraphy instructor praised, "Not bad, just right. This one is fine!"

The film HAN KEI POR ONG (DEADLINE CASE BREAK) two days ago held its production start ceremony in Jiangmen. Emperor Group chief Albert Yeung Sau Sing, producer Han Sanping, director Lau Ho Leung, producer Leung Lam, leads Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Wang Qianyuan, Michelle Wai Sze Nga attended. Boss Yeung personally hosted the roast pig cutting and worship ceremony. He even gave away lai see on the spot for good luck! Ng Yin Cho said that the script lured him back for the production.

Living in the U.S., Ng Yin Cho admitted that because this script was outstanding he returned for it! "For now I can't spoil anything. After a few days at work, the director, Wang Qianyuan and I have had a very pleasant collaboration. Of course making U.S. series and Hollywood films were fun too, but I was born in Hong Kong. Filmmaking here is very professional, other nations can't make the Hong Kong flavor! In the U.S. jobs are divided very clearly, directors, producers, editors would only mind their own jobs, especially with television. Every two episode the director changes. You can't build lasting relationships. Coming back to make movies is much happier, I can study the script and the character with the director."

Daniel's unique look in HAN KEI POR ONG opened people's eyes. He said, "I think it's pretty handsome, pretty cool!" As for all the action scenes, Daniel said that he has been training in the past few years so no one would need to worry about him. "Making movies is much more comfortable. When I made the American series I almost had to fight everyday, and I had to make one episode every nine days. It was like working in a factory for six days a week, for nine months nonstop." Daniel has always been a family man. When he was making INTO THE BADLANDS, he brought his daughter Raven to the set. This time though she was nowhere to be found. Daniel explained, "She is in her first year in kindergarten. I want her to properly go to school and learn Chinese. My only regret is I didn't learn Chinese properly when I was little. I don't wan her to regret that in the future as well." Daniel joked that normally he could be the strict father, maybe Raven would be happier about not seeing him. "Yet every night we facetime to stay in touch." In order to take care of his 89 year old father, Daniel would still put his family and career focus in the U.S. He will make a new season of INTO THE BADLANDS and make other Asian films in his free time.

Earlier he was a guest on friend Nicholas Tse Ting Fung's program CHEF NIC. "We haven't seen each other in 3 or 4 years. I got teary eyed when we talked about the past. Actually GEN-X COPS was made 20 years ago already. We want to work together on another film, getting (Stephen) Fung Tak Lun to make GERIATRIC COPS, haha."

As the lead actress, Wai Sze Nga has already begun training early on. "I have to play the best fighter, I don't want to lose to the guys so I hired a coach. Today I work on arms, tomorrow on abs, the day after on thighs, the coach says I am too crazy and tells me to rest instead of coming everyday!" On the first day of work, Michelle held nothing back and opened her co-stars' eyes. "Wang Qianyuan asked, 'Why do you have to perform every scene in person? You still have over 50 days to fight!' I know I have female stunt doubles in waiting and the face is covered anyway, but I don't want to us a double. After training for so long, I feel it's wasted if I can't fight. Even if I am not in a scene, I would stay on the set to learn. Hopefully with this experience when other people think of action films they would remember Wai Sze Nga has fought before. It's better to have another way out." She planned to stay in Jiangmen until January next year. She would only take a day off to return to Hong Kong for her sister's wedding in December.

Michelle has worked with Daniel before. Years after she felt that Daniel was as handsome as ever. "Many friends have called to ask to visit the set, but actually they don't want to visit me. They want to see Daniel." Wang Qianyuan said that he had similar encounters. "Lately I got calls from many girls, asking for Ng Yin Cho's autograph." In Wang Qianyuan's impression Daniel was a handsome idol. After working together he did not feel the same. "Earlier when I worked with Chang Chen, he fought very well. Actually Ng Yin Cho fights just as well, I am a little nervous!"
