[2010.07.31] SHU QI LONGS FOR TONGUE WAR WITH AARON KWOK

courtesy of on.cc

Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Shu Qi reunite ten years later. Shu Qi sighed that the film did not have any intimate scene. Being single, she joked that she enjoyed the feeling of dating different people in movies. However, Sing Sing in the film suffered all kinds of abuse. He was even hospitalized for a bloody injury.

Sing Sing and Shu Qi ten years ago worked together on STORM RAIDERS (FUNG WON HUNG BA TIN HA). Ten years later they reunited for Benny Chan Muk Sing's new film CITY UNDER SIEGE (CHUEN SING GAI BEI). In the film their intimate scene ended with a peck. They did not have any kiss scene, which Shu Qi jokingly said was regrettable!

Currently single, Shu Qi joked that she enjoyed the feeling of romancing different actors in different films. "I am pretty unfaithful, today I can date Sing Sing, in another film I can be with Ge You while I look forward to someone else in the next one. Right after cut I can immediately break up. Dating like this is pretty decent." As for Sing Sing ten years ago, Shu Qi pointed out that back then he already was a very famous singer. However he was not arrogant and took great care of new comers. "Working together again this time, his passion for film hasn't changed at all. He never says no no matter how dangerous the scene is."

Shu Qi's character in the film is unkind, selfish and sells out friends. She joked that it is very easy to grasp. Because she did not need to battle wits, she could directly play it. "The character's personality makes me very mad at myself, I feel I am very horrible!" Reportedly the character was a reflection of Patty Hou (Hau Pui Shum), Shu Qi said, "The news is very absurd, very pointless."

Sing Sing joked that ten years later Shu Qi used less "foul language". "Previously her Cantonese was not so fluent, so she always made words sound dirty. However she is very attentive. In one scene we were crammed inside a car. Because of the fat suit I couldn't get tissues to wipe the sweat away, she attentively brought me some. I even got to touch her hand!" As for the most memorable scene, Sing Sing pointed out that the mutant fat look irritate his skin and required hospitalized. Then a truck ran into him, the glass cut his hand and left a scar that is still here now.

Mona Fong Yat Wa single handedly put together TVB, Emperor and Shaw's first film collaboration THE JADE AND THE PEARL (FEI CHUI MING JU). Emperor executive Ng Yu expressed that Ms. Fong this time let go completely for them to do their part. The only objection was the theme song, which she asked to be recorded again. Elaine Lok Yi Ling was very satisfied after watching the kiss scene between Joey Yung Cho Yi and Raymond Lam Fung and joked that she wanted to replace Joey to kiss Lam Fung. Lam Fung and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin originally has a peck but after watching he asked for another take in order please the audience.

Ng Yu said, earlier he wanted to remake THE KINGDOM AND THE BEAUTY (GONG SAN MEI YUNG) but Kelly Chen Wai Lam has already made it. Ah Sa also felt that she was no match for Linda Lam Doi and instead was very interested in ROMANCE OF THE PHOENIX CHAMBER (FUNG GOK YAU SAU MEI LIU CHING). Finally they thought that "jade and pearl" could be used as tokens of love. In the film originally in one scene the jade and the pearl were scattered in the air, Ng Yu thought it was unlucky and turned the idea down. He was very confident in this film and expected the box office to be over 10 million. Lam Fung's fans have already booked a cinema. Director Chun Siu Chun also complimented Ah Sa's acting as decent. Although the shoot took place when Ah Sa was at her lowest romantically, she still was able to perform the young girl emotions. One of the producers Chin Siu Wai suggested a nomination for her for the Golden Horse and the Hong Kong Film Awards.

In addition, Ng Yu yesterday also appeared on a radio interview. Emperor's support of Lam Fung reportedly upset top star Leo Ku Kui Ke. Ng Yu said that he would be upset at such rumors too. He said that they all did their own thing. Gei Jai was mainly focused on music and records, which Emperor definitely would put a lot of effort into. Lam Fung had TVB as his support. Why did he not ask Gei Jai to perform THE JADE AND THE PEARL theme song? Ng Yu said that he was not in the film, if he sang it it would feel strange.

The book is divided into Superstar Chapter, Disguise Chapter, Romance Chapter, School Life Chapter, and Music Chapter, and also collects many exciting stills from the film and the record of his growth as a first time director. Leehom stated that he did not just decide to make a movie out of the blue. He passionately loved creating and enjoyed that type of something out of nothing process, whether with records, writing, acting or directing. These creative processes enriched his life and made his life more meaningful. He also shared his director experience. "A director is like being at the helm, the entire team works toward the direction that you would like to go. In addition, you have to be responsible for all the workers' everyday life. Perhaps due to a lack of personnel, sometimes I have to do a variety of chores like sweeping and moving props myself."

In this inspirational comedy, Leehom even stars in the lead opposite Liu Yifei and Joan Chen. The story not only mixed in music, love, traditional art and culture with other elements but also attempted to deliver a courage of self breakthrough, self hard work and true heart to the audience.

REIGN OF ASSASSIN will be Ng Yu Sum's first major wuxia film and has been invited to hold its global premiere there very early on as a salute to Ng's film achievement. The original time was set for two days after the award on September 4, but due to Marco Muller it received special treatment. Ng Yu Sum said, "Earlier Marco Muller came to China and saw some rough cut of REIGN OF ASSASSIN. He expressed that he liked this film very much and felt that the story was great. He decided to change the film screening to Friday, September 3, which traditionally has been the film festival prime time. The evening screening can be considered the prime time slot's prime time." September 3 has become "John Woo Day", with THE KILLER (DIP HUET SEUNG HUNG) screening in the afternoon and REIGN OF ASSASSIN at night. Then the award will be presented to Ng Yu Sum.

Ng Yu Sum innovated the action film nucleus to make visual art even more procedural and become the example of Asia and Hollywood action film. This is the reason that the Venice Film Festival committee announced Ng Yu Sum to be its Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Ng Yu Sum stated that his innovative footsteps have not stopped because of the award, as REIGN OF ASSASSINS will be the peak of his film career.

The Andy Lau Tak Wa, Li Bingbing, Carina Lau Ka Ling, Deng Chao, Tony Leung Ka Fai starred DETECTIVE DEE (DIK YUN KIT ji TUNG TIN DAI GOK) will be released on September 30 in the Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia simultaneously. Later it will hold its global premiere at a certain large scale European film festival. The team's travel budget and production budget reached tens of millions.

In addition, the film's trailer has officially been released. In the two minute and 20 second longer video, not only the mystery but also the Great Tang recreation that cost 100 million RMB were unveiled. In other words, each second of the trailer cost HK$800,000. Lau Tak Wa in the trailer was visible at every turn, from the close distance inspection of a burnt corpse to the kitchen fire deduction to a duel with a mysterious opponent. In the final scene he even jumped from high up, revealing Tsui Hark's ambition of creating a new Chinese film hero for Lau Tak Wa.

The film yesterday received the good news that it became the only Chinese film to be in competition at this year's Venice Film Festival. Lead actor Lau Tak Wa was very happy for two reasons. He was happy for director Tsui Hark because this film was very able to represent Tsui
Hark's style, so he was happy about the recognition; he was also happy that this would be his first film to participate in the Venice Film Festival. It would be an action film as well, thus he hoped that the audience would like the film.

[2010.07.30] ZHANG JINGCHU GIVES HER ALL FOR FIGHT SCENES

courtesy of mingpao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

Zhang Jingchu's film CITY UNDER SIEGE (CHUEN SING GAI BEI) will be released on August 12 in Hong Kong. Zhang Jingchu's character in the film knew Chinese kung fu and was Wu Jing's partner. Together they were chasing mutants. This time as an action actress, Zhang Jingchu pointed out that the biggest challenge was the action scenes. Each time director Benny Chan Muk Sing and martial art director designed new action scenes, she would be very nervous as she was afraid that she would not be able to adjust in a short time. Later she thought she might as well give her all. Now looking back at the scenes, she too was curious why at the time she fought so well.

Zhang Jingchu was in a lot of pain during the fight scenes, in particular her heel. However she rather enjoyed wire work as she was able to fly up and down, which she thought was a lot of fun. She also pointed out that she was very relaxed in action scenes with Wu Jing because with any accident he would be the first to cover her and keep her from harm. If she had any difficult action, he would teach her short cuts. Zhang Jingchu also discovered that Director Chan was a sentimental person. In one scene when the director read a line with her, his eyes suddenly turned red. Everyone was stunned. During voice work when she relived that scene, she too felt sad. She believed that the audience would scene it too.

Chan Muk Sing expressed that Zhang Jingchu's character was his favorite. He pointed out that Jingchu asked a lot from herself. In the film everyone lost themselves in the pursuit of fame or fortune, only Zhang Jingchu's character was able to live soberly. Thus this was his favorite character. Wu Jing felt that this film was a rare experience because he ran into strong people in both drama and action, like Zhang Jingchu and Collin Chou Siu Lung.

Sherman Chung Shu Man and Deep Ng Ho Hong yesterday appeared on an online radio interview to promote STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN). In the film Deep played an armed robber and joked that gun scenes in the city felt great. Speaking of the upcoming Miss Hong Kong pageant, would he support his girlfriend's sister Chong Si Ming? He said that day he would have to work on a young idol series in Beijing but would support her in spirit. Chong Si Ming earlier was cited as an also ran candidate, Deep said, "Participation is the key. Anyone has a chance to be also ran, I told her when she hears comments like that, instead she has to do even better to prove that she isn't also ran. Lately she feels much more mature. Actually whether or not she is an also ran doesn't matter, the process is the most important." Deep as "future brother in law" would do his part and ask his friends to vote.

Sherman released her fifth album. As for the theme, she said, "Everyone's life has a mission, my duty is following music for a lifetime." Sherman personally wrote 4 songs, Deep also wrote one for her. Sherman said, "Deep's song PUZZLE (PING TOH) sounds great, but it wasn't plugged. However many message broads praised it, proving that Deep is a very valuable musician. On stage he is a star, I haven't seen him perform on stage for a long time." Deep joked that he always treated Sherman like a toy and often had fun at her expense. Sherman said, "One is willing to abuse the other is willing to take the abuse, he always treats me like a guy like a brother, he also always makes fun of me and says that boys like me shouldn't grow my hair long."

Donnie Yen Chi Tan after a vacation in Canada earlier flew to Beijing in preparation for the October production of the 3D live action epic THE MONKEY KING and sat for the Monkey King costume fitting. That day happened to be his birthday. Although this year his family could not celebrate with him, it was just as memorable as all day a group of men felt him up from morning to night to put him in a full body cast. He spent hot and wet birthday.

This time Chi Tan's Monkey King make up already cost over US$1 million. Chi tan modeled for the image that day. In 12 hours he went through facial expression scanning, full body casting mold, image study and other complex processes. Even his teeth had to be measured for the special effect make up. Chi Tan expressed that the most painful part was having to stand for 30 minutes. He wore tight clothing inside while a cast was applied outside and made him immobile. He said, "The cast itself was already heavy and contained water, while waiting for it to dry I couldn't pick it all. I was hot and sweating all over, it's like carrying another person. It was very heavy and hurt my ankles." In order for Chi Tan to relax, everyone kept talking to him and jokingly asked him to tolerate it a little more because it was his birthday full body beauty treatment.

In order to play the Monkey King, Chi Tan made personal suggestions to producer Agan and even brought a comic book about the Monkey King for him. Chi Tan felt that the Monkey King should have a variety of expressions. When he was angry his hair should also change.

[2010.07.29] CAREER FIRST FOR JJ JIA

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Shaw and Sil-Metropole release THE JADE AND THE PEARL (FEI CHUI MING JU) will be released on August 4. Yesterday four princesses including JJ Jia (Ga Hiu Sun), Macy Chen Mei Si, Christine Kuo and Jess Shum Cheuk Ying, along with two palace maidens Sherry Chen Song,
Cilla Lok Tung and director Chun Siu Chun met with the press and toasted to the film's opening success.

Yesterday the princess wore either low cut or high cut, the sexiest was JJ. She laughed and said, "I am only sexier around the chest, other regions are very secured. (Deliberate beauty contest?) I am no competition, I got a lot fatter. I just didn't want to waste this dress. (Getting fat because you are happy form dating Shum Chun Hin?) We are just good friends, we aren't dating yet. However we have known each other for years, so the chances are better. (Do you have feelings for him?) You have feelings for friends too, but right now my career isn't stable yet. I don't want to date. (Because Nat Chan Pak Cheung doesn't want you to date?) He has told the entire company that hopefully everyone would focus on work, but it wasn't as severe as the magazines described. He doesn't object to normal exchanges and hasn't banned dated. He only
hopes that everyone would stabilize their careers first." JJ also said that she did not like casual dating because she wanted marriage. Reporters urged her to go after her idol Louis Koo Tin Lok because he should be married. She joked, "He has so many female fans, I am afraid that someone would assassinate me. I am already happy to death about being able to work with him." As for Shum Chun Hin's resemblance to Goo Jai, she joked, "If he does then it's great, I don't even have to think about it!"

While boyfriend Eric Suen Yiu Wai said that he was unhappy on his micro blog, Macy was clueless. "You have to ask him, but normal people would occasionally have bad moods, maybe it's the rain! (How do you plan to cheer him up?) I will call him." He might be "cooped" up from a lack of release? She joked, "Koo Cho Lam? (Would you kiss him?) It's a secret, I am not telling you." Earlier a writer unveiled a male artist who forced women to go to bed and pray with him. Suen Yiu Wai was one of the suspects. Recently some magazines followed up on the story. Macy
only thought it was funny and supported her boyfriend as not that type of people. She would only read it like a fantasy novel. She said, "Something like this definitely wouldn't happen to him, but artists have a hard time controlling what other people write. Although it's unfair to
him, what can he do? Hopefully everyone would just laugh it off and stop writing even if they have suspicions."

Kuo Wan Wai who has been saying that she wanted to lose weight has not shown much result. She explained, "I already have improved a little. In addition earlier I was bloated, but I don't want to exercise. I don't want to have muscles all over, I don't want to turn into Mr. Hong
Kong." In the new film, she and the other princesses learned womanly ways from the Carlo Ng Ka Lok played eunuch. She said, "My family is very strict, normally I can't behave like this. In order to play the character well, I worked very hard on learning but for now I have no use
for it. It will be useful in the future with a boyfriend because I will have to entertain him. (Which princess performed the best?) Ka Lok did the best, he was very natural pretending to be a girl, even I feel I am no match for him!"

[2010.07.29] JENNIFER TSE PREFERS MOVIE OVER MONEY

Jennifer Tse Ting Ting was already in trouble on the first day of her first film BRUCE LEE. Reportedly she was unfamiliar with the script and had frequent bad takes, and because she was in a rush to her date she rushed the production. Ting Ting yesterday defended herself on the radio. She honestly admitted that her boyfriend Andy On Chi Kit was keeping her company in Guangzhou, she was very nervous on her first day and kept him away from the set. She also said that she only worked on 3 hours on her first day. Thus after work she was still reluctant to leave, hoping to stay and watching other actors' performance.

Ting Ting also said that before the film started production the script and the production date were changed many times, but each time the script changed, her friend would read the script to her so she would be prepared. she also said that when she was in school, she definitely would finish her homework before the test because she did not like to go to a test without knowing anything. Why would she not read the script then? In addition on her first day she worked on a scene in which Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) followed her. It had no dialogue. The director only asked her to walk like a commercial shoot. After the shoot the director even complimented on her marks and did not complain about numerous bad takes.

Reportedly she used the production's car to visit Guangzhou with her boyfriend. She said aside from work she did not leave the hotel, not to mention visiting Guangzhou. She guessed that because she was Patrick Tse Yin and Deborah Li (Dik Bor Lai)'s daughter, everyone thought that she had the princess syndrome. She also said that LEE was her first so right now the film came before everything else. She would rather make less money to focus on her acting.

[2010.07.29] HUO SIYAN WINS PRAISES AS THE PRINCESS

courtesy of takungpao.com

The August 19 costume comedy release ADVENTURE OF THE KING (LUNG FUNG DIM) recently published stills of actress Huo Siyan in a male disguise. Huo Siyan looked very heroic and during the costume fitting she even raised her fan and jokingly made a pose, "Do I look like Tang Bohu? Let me show you my Huang Xiaoming trademark smile!"

In ADVENTURE OF THE KING, Huo Siyan plays a talkative princess who often conducted lengthy "language harassment" of her brother the King, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai). This was also her first comedy film. Huo Siyan said, "This character is very different from my past silver screen image. She is just as talkative as the Veritable Tang Monk in THE CHINESE ODYSSEY, basically her mouth never stops. The character's movement, expression, voice and speech have to be very fast, very high, very exaggerated." Huo Siyan said that every time she delivered her lines she felt like she was almost out of breath. "Not only do I have to talk fast, my expression and physical movement also have to have a comedy feel. Basically I have to give my all to the performance." Yet this earned her the compliment of "cute little shrew" from Yam Yin Chai. The director also expressed that Siyan absolutely was the female lead in the first 20 minutes of the film. After watching the entire film her character left a deep impression with people, the performance was brilliant.

Actually her comedy filled performance was due to Law Kar Ying. Law Kar Ying expressed that in this film he taught Huo Siyan everything he knew. Huo Siyan replied that Law Kar Ying also taught her a little secret, to have a few sips of wine to warm up before delivering a lot of lines. The feeling afterward mobilized the entire body and the mind was be particularly clear. No matter how complicated the lines were they would be no problem.

A Niu's debut as a director, ICE KACANG PUPPY LOVE, will be released in August. It will be a story about young people who grew up in a small Malaysian village in the early 90s. A Niu expressed that after a singing contest he became a singer, but ultimately he still had his movie dreams.

After years in show business and accumulating many friendships, A Niu finally had the chance to fulfill his dream and gathered all the heavyweight "Malay Gang" in the business. He invited Angelica Lee Sinjie, Gary Chaw (Cho Gat), Victor Huang (Wong Bun Guoon), Eric Moo (Mo Kai Yin), Penny Dai Pui Nei, Nicholas Teoh (Cheung Tung Leung) and others to guest star. A Niu even revealed details from the production. Speaking of Lee Sinjie, A Niu felt that she deserved her Golden Horse Best Actress Award as working with her he was able to get into character very easily. As for Jasmine Leong Jing Yu, A Niu felt that her eyes knew how to speak and thus arranged for zero line for her in the film. From the beginning to the end she expressed herself with her eyes. A Niu very much hoped that the audience would like the film and be able to support it at the cinemas!

As for the title, A Niu expressed that he wanted to describe first love with red bean ice. First love, like having red bean ice in the hottest afternoon, is sweet at first bite. Then some ice follows, so icy that it hurts a little. Yet very quickly it melts.

[2010.07.27] BANGKOK BLAST DID NOT HINDER HONG KONG FILM PROFESSIONALS

Elanna Kong Yuek Lam

A fatal explosion took place in Bangkok. Elannie Kong Yuek Lam two nights ago worked on Pang Fat's new film FAIRY TALE KILLER (SOK MING TUNG WA), which ended yesterday morning at 7AM. Originally she planned to go straight to bed at the hotel. Soon text messages from her
family and friends woke her as everyone was worried about her safety over the Bangkok explosion.

Yesterday Elanne said, "Mommy was the most nervous, as she urged me not to go out aside for work. Now I am the only actor left, I feel so grey." Co-stars James and Gary returned to Hong Kong before the explosion and thought the explosion was severe enough to send text message to see how she was. Because she did not reply, they went to the company to "ask for help".

Elanne yesterday was still in Bangkok, waiting director Pang Fat's notice to see whether additional shoot was needed. The soonest she would return to Hong Kong would be tomorrow. Without anything to do, yesterday she went with local workers to the city center for lunch and shopping. "They said today (yesterday) is the Thailand Buddha's birthday, it is a major event. No one would cause trouble today. Thus I was very at ease when I was out. The streets were very quiet. I only saw a black plastic bag of unknown origin on the street and I immediately went the other way. Safety comes first."

Elanne posted that she was safe online to keep her fans from worrying. "Because we shot in a remote country area, at first no one knew what happened. When we saw the headline we were surprised. We are one of 3,000 Hong Kong people who are stuck in danger, but we are fine. Don't worry!"

Despite the explosion, Hong Kong film professionals are still working on location in Thailand. They were used to seeing situations and fearlessly continued on.

Thai Chinese Pang Brothers were not afraid of the explosion. Currently Pang Fat is still working on the "lucky shot" for FAIRY TALE KILLER's production start. He said, "I am used to it, I know it's nothing. Maybe today is the Buddha's birthday, they are all song and dances over there. (What about brother Pang Shun?) He earlier was shooting THE DETECTIVE 2 (B+ JING TAM) over there. Two days ago he just returned to Hong Kong. We are locals, we know where we can go. Heaven looks after lucky people."

Ken Low Wai Kwong earlier worked on FAIRY TALE KILLER. The Thai local pointed out that after the explosion the city was quiet. "Many tourists went shopping. I went to the city myself. (Were you worried about your safety?) No, maybe it's just because of the election. (Any family over there?) My brother, he doesn't live near where it happened. Just avoid the place where it happened then you are fine!"

Model Kelly Fu Ka Lei also worked on FAIRY TALE KILLER. Two days ago as she was about to return to Hong Kong, the explosion took place in Bangkok. When it happened she was only a block away in the shopping district.

"At the time I was shopping, preparing to buy a gift for a friend's birthday. Suddenly I heard boom, even the ground was shaking! Then many people ran to the streets. The people on the streets were like the lead in RUN LOLA RUN, they just kept running! Luckily I didn't go to the supermarket for snacks, if not it would've been big trouble."

Kelly said that after the explosion chaos ensued, people thought the red shirts were rioting again. Thus she immediately took a taxi back to the hotel to pack and leave. Kelly thought she has been very unlucky. "Several months ago when I went to Thailand for an ad I already ran into
the red shirts, several weeks ago during the shoot my eyes got some strange illness. As I was leaving trouble still happened. (Would you consider getting blessing from the White Dragon King?) I heard he's in the hospital!"

Shu Qi yesterday attended an online game press conference. She expressed that at the end of the month she will head to Sanya for her new film IF YOU ARE THE ONE 2. She joked that she was a "ultra violet ray absorbing machine" as she was afraid that she could be sunburned. She believed that the sun block products would not be too useless and she would not be able to swim. Would shooting on the beach not be romantic? Shu Qi said that the shoot was different from a vacation, perhaps director Feng Xiaogang would feel it would be romantic.

Shu Qi stated that this character would speak Putonghua with a Northern accent. She had to change from her Taiwan accent, which was the most difficult. Sometimes she had to say the same line 20 times. However, the director was very patient and would not yell at her. She also said that if she was still getting yelled at at her age she would be very embarrassed. As for the recent rumor that she will work on the BROTHER SHARP movie, Shu Qi has neither heard about it nor been contacted.

Ng Yin Cho revealed that he has started studying martial art since he was 11, which was related to the great shape that he was in. Born in the U.S., Ng Yin Cho after watching the film SHAOLIN TEMPLE at the age of 6 could not be more excited and planned to study martial arts. However his mother was worried that he would become aggressive after learning martial arts and did not agree. "When I was 11, my family hired a martial art master from Beijing. I studied kung fu with him." Several years later, he represented the U.S. wushu team in Shichahai, Beijing and practiced kung fu with the Chinese wushu team. Later he won many awards. Thus, he has always wanted to be able to make a movie that truly reflected Chinese traditional kung fu. Unfortunately so far this dream has not
been fulfilled, much to his regret.

The martial art master not only taught him kung fu but also affected his future life habits. "The master not only taught me kung fu but also taught me traditional culture and the way to maintain good health." From then on, Ng Yin Cho learned a lot of Chinese traditional culture. After marriage, Ng Yin Cho still firmly lived by the lifestyle that his master taught him. "Eat light food, live and work in happy and healthy ways everyday." Ng Yin Cho revealed that his relationship with his wife has been great, which also benefited from such health first lifestyle. "While I am working on a movie in the Mainland, almost everyday I would chat with her over the phone. I feel that this type of communication is very important between two people."

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed film STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN) not only stars Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung but also adds Taiwan star Kwai Lun-Mei into its cast. Siu Mei who always has been in romantic films more points out that this film is the biggest challenge in her career. She has always wanted to play an action film or a mob film, so she is very happy about being a part of this film. Finally she gets the chance to play a gang leader, as she feels the director is very daring.

Playing the mob boss, Siu Mei inevitably has to hold or shoot a gun. Director Lam Chiu Yin is effortless with such scenes and also provides a lot of guidance to Siu Mei's performance this time. She says that for her first gun scene she truly is unfamiliar and requires the director to teach her the tricks of holding and shooting a gun. However thus she becomes interested and hopes to have more chances for gun scenes. Director Lam praises Siu Mei for being a natural with guns and able to pick up shooting very quickly. Her performance is convincing and during the shoot she looks like an old hand at all.

Lam Chiu Yin feels not feel any risk in casting Siu Mei who is used to non action roles in this film. He feels that an actor is reluctant to act within a frame, Siu Mei's potential should be even greater. He also does not want everyone to feel that STOOL PIGEON feels like BEAST STALKER (JING YUN) so he adds new actors like Siu Mei. He believes that the audience will cry over Siu Mei's performance.

The 14th Annual Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival has presented its awards. Media Asia's FIRE OF CONSCIENCE was the only Hong Kong film in competition and its star Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai) won Best Actor. This film was his first individual award in film, the joy from which was hard to describe. Director Dante Lam Chiu Yin was also rather happy and praised Puchon Film Festival jury for their unique eyes.

Last year Lam Chiu Yin won the Puchon Best Director. This year his film also helped Siu Chai win his first Best Actor. Both were rather excited. Siu Chai excitedly said about his first film award, "Actually accepting an award is so exciting! Thank you Media Asia for giving me a chance, thank you director for continuously studying the character with me, and also thank you (Leon) Lai Ming for making my performance very focused. Now with this award in my hand, I am still excited. I never thought that the first film award would be the Best Actor award, not to mention winning it in an overseas non Chinese film festival. The impact that it has brought is truly too great!"

Lam Chiu Yin this year deliberately attended the Puchon Film Festival to make up for not being able to attend last year while working on FIRE OF CONSCIENCE. Although this year he did not win again, he felt that being able to watch Siu Chai win was well worth the joy. Siu Chai also expressed that that night he and the director already celebrated with a feast to thank the director for his effort. They already decided to have Korean barbecue and enjoy Korea's most ample cuisine. Siu Chai tomorrow morning will return to Taiwan, he expressed that he would bring the award to family and share the joy.

The Danny Pang Fat directed film FAIRY TALE KILLER (SOK MING TUNG WA) yesterday held its production start ceremony in Thailand. Attendees included Elanne Kong Yuek Lam, Lau Ching Wan, Joey Man Yi Man, and Mainland actor Wang Baoqiang. The film company selected a lucky time for the worship ceremony to take place and invited Thai priests for the ceremony. In the film Lau Ching Wan and Man Yi Man play a couple. Yesterday they worked on a scene in which they saw Kong Yuek Lam and Wang Baoqiang on the streets and mistook them for beggars. Ching Wan gave them 20 bucks.

Ching Wan expressed that this time he plays a cop who is investigating serial murders but actually is a "slanted shoulder" (irresponsible) cop. In one scene Kong Yuek Lam had to bite him. Ching Wan said, "It's just a bite! It's no big deal!" This is also Ching Wan's first collaboration with Pang Fat. At first he thought he was very serious, actually he was very happy and had a childlike innocence. The shoot has also been very comfortable, the facilities were complete. His wife earlier also visited the set. Earlier the entire team all succumbed to eye infection. Ching Wan said that his eyes have always been sensitive and required eye drops even with a little more dust. Luckily his eyes were only red and were fine after eye drops, but others had to be hospitalized.

Kong Yuek Lam's character suffers from severe autism. Wang Baoqiang plays her boyfriend. She also has been busy with a TVB series in which she plays a happy and energetic Ming Dynasty princess, a role that is very different from this film's character. Because she plays
someone with autism, she has no dialogue and can only make expressions. She works on each scene until she mentally breaks down, she also has to hit herself in the head. She also goes crazy, hits and bites Ching Wan. Sometimes she works until she wails and she is afraid that she cannot
leave the character. The worst part is the team wants her to face the wall for several hours to gather her emotions. Because she wears white, other people pass by and think they see a ghost. They often use a flashlight on her. The director also prohibits her to go out and eat so she is focused on the character. She also says that this character is very similar to the 15 year old who killed his mother and sister in Hong Kong. She feels that Hong Kong has many mental patients. How does she relieve stress? She says, "Luckily the TVB series has (Michael) Tse Tin Wa and (Sammul) Chan Kin Fung to play with me, later I will take half a month to visit Taiwan or India."

Kong Yuek Lam also said that on her first day in Thailand she was locked in her hotel for half a hour. Luckily later she was able to open the door and she immediately asked her assistant to keep her company. Speaking of the film CHILD'S EYE (TUNG NGAN) being selected for the Venice Film Festival, she was very excited about the chance to go the event. Meanwhile, working with Ching Wan for the first time Pang Fat stated that as soon as the cameras rolled he knew Ching Wan was "good". Kong Yuek Lam also has improved a lot. As for CHILD'S EYE's Venice Film Festival participation, he expressed that he did not know whether he or his brother
would go. Lately he has been busy with writing a love story.

[2010.07.24] AFTER SHOCK HAS IDEAL OPENING DAY

courtesy of takungpao.com

Mainland films have hardly ever performed well at the Hong Kong box office. The Feng Xiaogang directed AFTER SHOCK is this year's big national film that moved the July 28, 1976 morning Tangshan earthquake to the silver screen. Yesterday it opened on 24 screens and 119 shows and it made 550,000. Although the performance was not match for TOY STORY 3's 40 million in eight days, its admission rate was over 70% and the best of the day. Hong Kong viewers has hardly ever accepted Mainland drama. AFTER SHOCK under this condition still had high admission rate. With the decent word of mouth from the advanced screenings and without massive distribution, the performance was already considered ideal.

The 67th Annual Venice International Film Festival will take place in September. The Media Asia, Enlight Pictures and Shanghai Film Group 120 million yuan RMB film LEGEND OF THE FIST THE RETURN OF CHEN ZHEN (JING MO FUNG WON CHEN ZHEN) will open the Venice Film Festival and a new chapter in Hong Kong film.

Director Andrew Lau Wai Keung, actors Donnie Yen Chi Tan and Shu Qi on September 1 will appear on the Venice red carpet for the night's world premiere. Chi Tan and Venice opening films have quite a connection. In 2005 he with Tsui Hark's SEVEN SWORDS (CHUT GIM) opened Venice. This year returning to the red carpet, he felt it will be more exciting than the first time but also at the same time he will have some pressure because the focus on LEGEND OF THE FIST THE RETURN OF CHEN ZHEN will be on Chen Zhen. September 1 will be its global premiere. He hoped that his martial art action and acting would receive recognition from the audience and the jury.

Director Lau Wai Keung also participated in Venice with INITIAL D (TAU MAN JI D) in 2005. This was his first opening film, which to him was of course worth celebrating. He expressed, "Knowing that my work can be the Venice opening film, of course I am very excited. Hopefully this film will bring the jury a pleasant surprise and excitement. This time I will be able to work to Venice with Chi Tan and Shu Qi, which I believe will be a very happy journey."

courtesy of takungpao.com

Louis Koo Tin Lok yesterday attended a whisky promotional event. Goo Jai has already started to learn to drink beer when he went to banquets with his parents. As an adult he gradually learned to drink hard liquor but rarely at work. He remembered when he first got into the
business an elder taught him to drink a small amount of hard liquor to relax, but he got more nervous instead. Thus this idea did not work for him. Goo Jai also felt lucky that after drinking he would only fall asleep and rarely embarrassed himself.

Goo Jai's film TRIPLE TAP (CHEUNG WONG JI WONG) has made over 100 million in the Mainland box office. He promised to celebrate with the team. Will he ask for a raise? He said that would depend on the film budget and the role. He has offered to reduce his film salary for non starring roles.

Actually she understands that it's for the movie, she is not that petty."

To Kei Fung chose Suzhou for the wrap because he thought Suzhou was a very pretty place. He even revealed that in a few days Louis Koo Tin Lok will join the team; but because it was Ng Yin Cho's final day, Director To popped champagne bottles to celebrate his wedding next week. Ng Yin Cho in the film worked on a proposal scene with Gao Yuanyuan. To Kei Fung told him to get on one knee, take out a diamond ring and ask Gao whether she was willing to marry him. During rehearsal Ng Yin Cho was somewhat embarrassed and often broke into laughter. He even said to the director, "I truly have never done this. (How did Ng Yin Cho propose to Lisa S.?) It wasn't like this at all. One day I was having dinner with her and talked about having children. We both felt it was time. I then asked her if she was willing to marry me, she said yes. Just like that I
proposed and she agreed. It wasn't romantic at all. Ultimately we have been together for eight years, so just now was my first time proposing on my knee."

FANTASTIC WATER BABES (CHOOK SHUI FU YUNG) lead actor Alex Fong Lik Sun braved the heat earlier to distribute autographed posters at three Mongkok cinemas and received enthusiastic responses.

At his second stop, when Siu Fong entered the cinema to thank viewers some people screamed when they saw the lead actor's sudden appearance. The cinema was sold out that day, which comforted Siu Fong. he immediately gave away autographed posters to everyone. At his final
stop, Siu Fong gave out gifts at the ticket booth and made the originally crowded streets even more chaotic. Soon due to overcrowding the event had to be cut short. Siu Fong hoped that this summer everyone would not only support big Hollywood animation but also Hong Kong films to provide another choice for everyone. He was very glad to provide joy to everyone and had no complaint about promoting at several cinemas in a row.

[2010.07.21] DEREK YEE CALLS LOUIS KOO BORING

courtesy of singtao.com

Derek Yee Tung Sing after PROTEGE (MOON TOH) and OVERHEARD (SIT TING FUNG WON) again worked with Louis Koo Tin Lok and Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) in TRIPLE TAP (CHEUNG WONG JI WONG). Siu Bo said that their repeated collaborations was not because they were his favorites as rumored, but completely because they were not troublesome! "We have been working together, we have chemistry. Without having to say so much, some actors and managers in this industry are truly very troublesome!" Siu Bo this time landed Li Bingbing to play Goo Jai's superior and Charlene Choi Chuek Yin to play Goo Jai's nurse girlfriend, but either had too many scenes and seemed underutilized. He responded, "I am not making a
romance!" Siu Bo also revealed that actually he and Goo Jai have known each other for a long time. He said that Goo Jai was single and warmed up slowly, since Li Bingbing did not have a boyfriend he wanted to play "matchmaker". Unfortunately nothing came of it. "I told Bingbing, she and Goo Jai matched pretty well. Bingbing said Goo Jai didn't talk, so I told her to take the initiative and caht with Goo Jai. In one scene, I deliberately arranged for them to be the only people in the car. Through the receiver I thought I would listen to what they were chatting about. I didn't expect Goo Jai to actually be so dull, even I didn't want to hear him talk. Haha!"

The film after less than three weeks in Mainland release has passed 100 million at the box office to become the first Chinese film to hit the mark this summer. Due to its success, director Yee Tung Sing officially became a member of the "100 Million Yuan Director Club". Even famous director Feng Xiaogang expressed, "TRIPLE TAP absolutely is the summer's trail blazer for Chinese films!"

Many viewers after watching the film left messages on microblogs or message boards to praise Koo Tin Lok's outstanding performance and the film was absolutely his representative work. Koo Tin Lok excitedly stated, "I have played many different characters. This time I had to have very good balance between good and evil, which indeed is very difficult. This time I finally have a good answer for the director and film viewers!"

Another lead Ng Yin Cho was so exhausted from the promotion that both his eyes had burst capillaries. The success of the film was worth all the hardship. Yee Tung Sing said, "The box office is the distributors to be concerned with, participation and production to me is even more
important. The film's good performance showed me the Mainland viewers' generosity. Overall, I am somewhat surprised. Here I not only have to thank every actor for their exciting performance and the investors for their support, but also the audience for its support."

Emperor Motion Pictures chief Albert Lee (Lei Nga Bok) expressed, "with the World Cup and many foreign blockbuster releases, TRIPLE indeed was taking a risk but everyone was full of confidence in the film. The director made a good movie and with coordination from the actors, the 100 million box office absolutely deserve a congratulation."

The film BRUCE LEE, MY BROTHER yesterday held a press conference in Guangzhou. Yesterday, July 20, was the 37th anniversary of Bruce Lee's passing. At the event the actors and creators conducted a memorial ceremony. Attendees included producer Manfred Wong (Man Jun), director Raymond Yip Wai Man, actors Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting), Tony Leung Ka Fai, Christy Chung Lai Tai, Jennifer Tse Ting Ting, Lee Heung Kam, Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen), Charles Ying Cheung Yau and Angela Gong Mi. Bruce Lee's brother Robert Lee Chun Fai and sister Lee Chau Yuen attended. Everyone released balloons of three colors into the sky in memory of this martial art superstar of a generation.

This film costs 40 million yuan RMB and has already started production in July, to be completed in August for a November release. Lee Chun Fai expressed that he has negotiated with film companies about this film since 2006. When they learned about the film production this year, they requested the Bruce Lee story to be factual from the start. Otherwise they would be yelled at on the streets for not being truthful. He felt that this time the script was very detailed, the Lee family also provided many suggestions. Lee Chau Yuen expressed that she has always had the dream of making a Bruce Lee memorial movie. Now it finally has been completed. The film was mainly about Bruce Lee's background, growth process and personality.

Leung Ka Fai in the film played Bruce Lee's father Lee Hoi Chuen, while Chung Lai Tai played Bruce Lee's mother Ho Oi Yu. Lee Chi Ting played Bruce Lee. Lee Chi Ting on stage expressed that at first when he was approached he was very surprised. Because Bruce Lee was a world renowned star, at first he had some pressure. The director told him to turn the pressure into motivation. In the film he not only had fight scenes but also had Cha Cha lessons. He said that he never learned to dance, but a guy definitely have fought before. Yesterday he demonstrated a few steps of Cha Cha and looked the part. He also said that this time both dramatic and action scenes were hard to make. Earlier he was injured as foreign co-star Alex Yue struck him in the head. He also studied many Bruce Lee films but would not deliberately imitate him. He and Gong Mi played childhood friends who grew close, but they would not have any intimate scene.

Ting Ting revealed that for her first film, her brother Nicholas Tse Ting Fung has called her several times to see how her preparation was. She was moved to tears with the phone in her hand. Ting Ting honestly said that earlier she did not have any pressure, but now her brother has made her very nervous. Before leaving her brother called her again. She joked that she has never seen her brother as such a nag but felt that he was very lovable this way. Did her brother give any advice? Ting Ting joked, "The advice that he gave me is useless, but it was the first time I felt like I had a common topic with my family, who is also very supportive of me." She also said that she thought Leung Ka Fai resembled her father a lot after working with him.

Chung Lai Tai expressed that she has not made a movie in six years. This time she was at ease. Because she has worked with Leung Ka Fai before, they had a lot of chemistry. She also brought her child to keep her company at work. Did the former sex symbol mind the promotion to a mother role? She said that she did not mind.

[2010.07.20] NICK CHEUNG DOES NOT THINK ABOUT BREAKING RECORDS

courtesy of takungpao.com

STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN) director Dante Lam Chiu Yin made the film with the original BEAST STALKER (JING YUN) team but the story are completely related. Nick Cheung Ka Fai won six Best Actor awards with BEAST STALKER and broke the Hong Kong film industry reward. Does he expect STOOL PIGEON to bring him even more Best Actor rewards?

Ka Fai says that he of course would be happy about any reward. "However the most important is still the audience recognizes and likes my movies!" Nicholas Tse Ting Fung this year just won a Hong Kong Film Award as well. Does he have any expectation? "Award or not is secondary, every time I only do my best to complete each film. When the audience likes it then it's good, this is the biggest reward!" Director Lam Chiu Yin jokes it would be the best for everyone in STOOL PIGEON to be nominated. "Because everyone gave 100% hard work and sincerity to make STOOL PIGEON well. We are confident, STOOL PIGEON is the Hong Kong film that deserves the anticipation this year!"
