The 34th Hong Kong Film Award will take place on Sunday, April 19th at the Hong Kong Cultural center. Yesterday a press conference was held. The Hong Kong Film award association board of directors president Andrew Lau Wai Keung, five nomination recipient Ivana Wong Yuen Chi and Best Director and Best Screenplay nominee Alan Mak Siu Fai attended. The event also announced that the Professional Spirit Award will go to famous prop master Lee Kuen Lung, but he was in Beijing and was unable to attend.

Ivana earlier participated in the program photo shoot. She said that although the clothing was very pretty, she did not fit into them. Even after she put it on she still had two to three inches left to be zipped up. Luckily the photographer helped her with positions. She said, "I can't fit not because I was too fat, but the clothing was too thin. I got the small size by accident. I hope the clothing on the night of the awards will be smooth. Because a famous French label tailored it, I was not afraid of not being able to zip up. The label's cover charge around in seven figures, but because I have worked with the label earlier for my concert, this time was almost a sponsorship. (Would you like to win Best Dressed that night as well?) I don't dare, but I just want to be decent and generous. I am already very happy to take part in the program. During the shoot I even stood next to my favorite Wang Baoqiang. I planned to buy 100 for primary, secondary school and Canada teachers, friends and family, because I don't know when I will have another chance to appear in the program." Although she had five nominations, Ivana was only half confident. Because more nominations did not guarantee an award, she was already very happy to attend as a nominee.

Lau Wai Keung said that Ivana had an award winning look and predicted that she would at least win two. He also revealed that he has asked Ivana to perform as early as when he made DANCE OF A DREAM (OI KWAN YU MONG), but at the time she was not confident enough. In the future he would continue to approach her. He also revealed that he has begun to plan for next year's Lunar New Year film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 3 (DOH SING FUNG WON 3) and the shoot will mainly stay in Hong Kong. The actor and production budgets will both increase, otherwise he will get yelled at.

This year's Professional Spirit Award recipient Lee Kwan Lung joined the Shaw prop department in the late 60s. The then 18 year old with his rich mechanical knowledge tried to make his own film props soon after joining the business. He has participated in countless large scale film projects like YOUNG DETECTIVE DEE: RISE OF THE SEA DRAGON (DIK YUN KIT ji SUN DOH LUNG WONG, 2013), IN THE LINE OF DUTY (WONG GA JIN SI, 1986) and ZU: WARRIROS FROM THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN (SUN SHOOK SAN GIM HUP, 1983). In his over 40 years career he has cultivated countless excellent prop masters for the Hong Kong film industry, most current top prop masters have worked under him. The award night Best Dressed award judge will be local fashion celebrity Gaile Lok. She will choose the Best Dressed male and female winners.

Yesterday was the 12th anniversary of superstar of a generation Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing. "Gor fans" continued to remember their idols in different ways. Around 10AM over 2,000 "Gor fans" from Hong Kong, Guangdong, Japan, Vietnam and other places gathered at Po Fook Hill to pay their respect to their idol. The Tsim Sha Tsui Avenue of the Stars and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel also had many "Gor fans" presenting flowers in remembrance. Almost 200 fans even held a small memorial at the park across the street from the hotel. At the Queen Elizabeth Stadium a memorial event for Gor Gor also took place at night.

Two days ago fans already placed flowers and dolls on the Avenue of Stars to remember Gor Gor. Fans even took photos of the sea of flowers. Ms. Wang and Ms. Chen from Foshan revealed that their group of a dozen or so came to Hong Kong to remember Gor Gor. They have liked Gor Gor for over ten years and the most memorable was Gor Gor 1997 and 2000 concerts and films. Their group every year would come to Hong Kong to attend the memorial event at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and to present flowers on the Avenue of Stars. At night they would also attend the Queen Elizabeth Stadium memorial event. As for Chan Suk Fun's intention to organize a Gor Gor musical on 2016, they said that they would support it but they worried that no actor would be like Gor Gor. In the hearts of "Gor fans" like them, no one has been able to replace or impersonate Gor Gor so far.

A volunteer of many years for the Leslie Cheung fan club, Ms. Ng yesterday remembered Gor Gor outside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel as she has in past years. As for the hotel's police road block outside, Ms. Ng clarified that the hotel did not ask the police for assistance. Over the years the fan club and the hotel have had a great relationship. Every April 1st it would arrange for a place for fans to remember their idol; the next day fans would also clear the area on their own. Yesterday a man asked fans to donate Gor Gor collectibles for his cafe, Ms. Ng was suspicious and reminded fans that they would bear sole responsibility for the consequence of donating items. In the afternoon, around 200 fans held a memorial event at the Jardine House park. They each held candles and a moment of silence for Gor Gor.

The 200 million RMB, Longman Leung Lok Man and Sunny Lok Kim Ching directed, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Ji Jin-Hee, Choi Si-Won and Chang Chen starred action epic HELIOS (CHET DOH) will open on the 30th. Earlier Hok Yau and Ka Fai worked on the promotional poster together. Often referred to as long lost brothers they worked together for the first time officially. Hok Yau joked, "We didn't have any scene about brotherly love, but it can be about father and son! Ka Fai is still playing young people now, I am heading toward the mature side!" Ka Fai said that he has already thought of a story that would be suitable for them. Hok Yau joked, "I can be the future you!"

Having been away from film for awhile, Hok Yau said that he was trouble so very few people would approach him about films. Ka Fai revealed that Hok Yau had an addiction to work on new directors' films, even for no money he would put up money and effort to help. Hok Yau said, "Because I am trouble, few people would ask me to make movies. However I want to make movies, so I would make some for no pay! This time with HELIOS I got paid. If anyone want to ask me to make a movie, please ask my consultant Cheung Ka Fai." This time they not only competed on screen with acting but also off screen with singing. Ka Fai joked that Hok Yau was someone who could stop breathing in order to sing. Hok Yau joked, "I of course would choose to breathe first, without breathing how can you sing. Once I went to a friend's party, because I was in a bad mood I grabbed the microphone and sang for several hours. My friend joked that I only liked to sing, I didn't need friends!"

Ka Fai asked Hok Yau did he like money or singing? Hok Yau said that he did not have too much desire for love, of course he would keep choosing singing because singing could make him money. Would they work together on a song? Ka Fai shook his head and said that Hok Yau's songs were hard to sing. Hok Yau said that he could teach him, but whether he would succeed or not it would depend on his fate. Ka Fai joked, "I already have enough talent, I don't have to get to Cheung Hok Yau's spot. I am not after yours!"

Sean Lau Ching Wan and Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) earlier attended their new film INSANITY (FUNG BO YU)'s Shanghai premiere. Ching Wan was nominated for Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor with this film. Huang Xiaoming did not receive any nomination. He felt bad for Xiaoming. "Everyone can only see Xiaoming's pretty face and think that pretty boys can't act. Actually his character is harder to play than mine."

Lead actress Yip Suen revealed that she only had one scene, in which Ching Wan tossed her off a building after domestic abuse. She revealed that she only took such a role for Ching Wan. Speaking of Ching Wan's Best Actor nominations after hitting Yip Suen in both OVERHEARD 3 and INSANITY. Yip Suen said, "Next time how about I hit you?" Ching Wan gladly replied, "You can even kill me!"

Cavalia held its first show last night. Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Karena Lam Ka Yun, George Lam Chi Cheung and Sally Yeh (Yip Sin Man) were among the guests. Lam Ka Yun revealed that earlier she guest starred in Nick Cheung Ka Fai's horror film MASTER FAT (TOR DEI KUI MOR YUN). She stated that she really admired Ka Fai. Although acting and directing were tough, he still put a lot of effort into them. Would she like to direct? She said no, because she was still lacking in her acting part, she still had a lot that she needed to learn.
