The Ann Hui On Wa produced Hong Kong film FAGARA (FA JU JI MEI) will open simultaneously in Hong Kong and the Mainland. The film earlier held industry screenings and the audience response was great. Many viewers were moved to tears. The film was the only domestic film that was selected to be a part of the Summer International Film Festival. Last week when tickets went on sale for the August 19th screening it was sold out in a hour.

In the film lead actress Sammi Cheng Sau Man appeared without make up and had to get her hands dirty at the hot pot shop. With her emotionally rich performance, she touched many viewers deeply. Sammi said that, "Earlier I read the novel and the story made a very deep impression. I have always hoped to be able to make a character like the one in the film. The lead absolutely is suppressing her feelings. Her childhood experience left her with a very deep misunderstanding of her father. Thus she always kept a certain distance from her father." Because she also had to suppress her emotion to play this character, she had to force herself to be very busy so she would not be able to settle down to release her emotions and to blur her own senses. Sammi in the film needed that type of "hiding her father's importance to her with hate" to bring the character to life, which also had certain difficulty.

courtesy of on.cc

Michelle Wai Sze Nga, Alex Lam Tak Shun, Anna Ng Yuen Yi and Emily Kwan Bo Wai starred in the suspense thriller WALK WITH ME (SEUNG WON). In the film Wai Sze Nga's boss at the factory raped her. Ng Yuen Yi after learning that her daughter was violated changed drastically and chased the factory boss with an axe. Finally the boss died in the hands of the avenging Wai Sze Nga.

Wai Sze Nga stated that she was rather focused during the production, which she also rather enjoyed as she felt a little deranged. "I like cruel and bloody characters, which I can't come in contact with at all in reality. When I think about it I want to shoot it again!" Ng Yuen Yi revealed that while shooting this scene she knocked over a chair by accident, but she was not severely hurt.

[2019.07.30] LAW CHUNG HIM RECALLS CHILDHOOD MISBEHAVIOR

courtesy of on.cc

The film LITTLE Q (SIU Q) will open on August 15th in Hong Kong. In order for even more people of different ages and classes to learn the message of "harmony between human and dog" that this film wanted to bring out and truly understand the job of a guide dog, Law Chung Him who played a guide dog trainer in the film earlier with literary youth goddess Angela Yuen Lai Lam and the Hong Kong Guide Dog Association brought two guide dogs in training to meet 200 second grade elementary school students at an elementary school. The children were able to come in close contact with and learn about the job of a guide dog. At the same time through interacting with the dogs they shared the message that the film stressed: "acceptance", "tolerance" and "love". Because for most children on hand it was their first counter with guide dogs, they were particularly excited and curious.

With the guide dog trainer and two actors' detailed explanations, the students enthusiastically asked questions. A student even broke through the "blind spot" and asked how the dog relieved itself while on the job. With two months of Guide Dog Association training before the production of LITTLE Q, Him Jai attentively demonstrated and answered questions for the children.

After the event, Law Chung Him and Yuen Lai Lam spoke to the press and mentioned their experience of returning to an elementary school after so many years. Both agreed that their childhood memories rushed back to them! Yuen Lai Lam saw how smart and energetic each of the new generation of children were. At first she thought that they would only have their minds on chatting. She did not expect that the students would listen to the explanations attentively during the process and even ask question seriously. Him Jai said, "Today is the last day of school for the students before summer vacation, in addition they are able to meet guide dogs, so their emotions run especially high. Actually which child isn't active? Their smiles are very therapeutic for me."

Recalling childhood misbehavior, Him Jai revealed that his school cited him on a second level demerit. "I remember while in class I left the classroom with other classmates on our own and hid in the bathroom. With cleaning powder and mops all over the place, the school cited me on a second level demerit."

[2019.07.30] FRANCIS NG CALLS NICK CHEUNG MEAN

courtesy of on.cc

Francis Ng Chun Yu and Nick Cheung Ka Fai reunite for their new film LINE WALKER 2 (SI TOH HUNG JEH 2 DIP YING HUNG DONG). Chun Yu played Ka Fai and Louis Koo Tin Lok's mentor, with more emotional scenes than action. He joked that at his age he might not be able to handle of a lot of action scenes. Thus he left them to the two "kids".

In the previous film he had a romance with Charmaine Sheh Si Man. Chun Yu admitted that this time originally had arrangements but finally he successfully reflected to the director. "The director after the first film came to his senses and didn't cook up all the romantic relationships. This time is all guy guy, very hot blooded."

Faced with Chun Yu's directness, Ka Fai could not help but make fun of him. "He truly is at the peak of his 'madness'! This time the character can only be handled by people at the peak of 'madness" like him. Normally he also represented all I wanted to say. On the set I really like Chun Yu, because whenever I saw something that wasn't right usually I would watch it once more. Yet at this time he would already be raging and spoke up sooner than me. I couldn't have enjoyed it more, and the matter would be resolved in the end. Isn't that something to be happy about?" Chun Yu struck back, "People like him are so sly! Some stuff has to be expressed together, with the same emotion, but since he was born looking so mean I graciously help. Sometimes they would say that my suggestion was good!"

Since they have both directed before, would they team up to direct later? Ka Fai admitted that he thought about working together on a comedy. "The screenplay is hard to find than a director, because if people don't laugh they would hate it. The lines are pretty dangerous. (Have you talked about it?) I thought about it but I didn't talk with anyone about it. Actually in recent years many new behind the scene talent arose, I suggest for them to use social problems as subjects. Film is a very wide range, anything can happen. It can be a tragedy, romance, comedy, even Wong Jing style comedy can have new ideas. With good ideas I wouldn't mind working together."
