Due to Hong Kong pandemic prevention mandates, cinemas have been ordered to closed from January 7 this year to April 20th. The closure passed 3 months, across the Lunar New Year and the Easter holiday slots. As the fifth wave of the pandemic waned, the government earlier announced loosening of the social distancing measures in stage starting April 21st. Cinemas and performance venues would be able to open up again in the first stage. Most of the general public have been concerned whether the two Lunar New Year films, the Dayo Wong Tze Wa starred TABLE FOR SIX (FAN HEI GUNG SUM) and the Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and Edan Lui Cheuk On starred CHILLI LAUGH STORY (HOP GA LAT), would be released after cinemas would open up again. Edko film company yesterday announced that the Lunar New Year film TABLE FOR SIX would be released during the summer vacation, while CHILLI LAUGH STORY still had no update.

"When I woke up everyone notified me that I won, I felt super unexpected, too pleasantly surprised. I even asked the staff whether there would be a trophy or a certificate, I really wanted to be able to commemorate the occasion because I felt it was very valuable. This was also the second honor LIMBO has given me. I am really very grateful to people who like LIMBO and like this character 'Wong Tao'. Thank you to all the elders in the jury who voted for 'Wong Tao'."

Would her second Best Actress award give her a shot of confidence for the Hong Kong Film Awards in July? She said, "The honor and the encouragement those around me have brought me gave me some confidence, but I personally feel that I should let awards take their natural course. The Ng Kin Hung produced, Aubrey Lam Oi Wa directed, Stephy Tang Lai Yan and Edward Ma Chi Wai starred film TWELVE DAYS (12 YUT) was selected to compete for the "Mulberry Award For Best Screenplay", bringing excitement to the cast and the crew. Stephy and Edward said that if permitted they hope to be able to attend the film festival, have exchanges with film viewers there and share their views on love.

Stephy said, "I hope through this film, TWELVE DAYS, we would be able to give overseas viewers an understanding of why in a place with more people than space like Hong Kong would be able to complete a relationship's sorrow, joy, separation and union." Edward also said, "Viewers through the silver screen would catch a glimpse of our romantic format and attitude, I believe they would get an unexpected impact but at the same time also be able to find something they can relate to."

The new director Judy Chu Fung Han directed SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE (YUT LO TUNG HUNG) received the Udine Far East Film Festival's invitation to participate and hold a world premiere. The cast and the crew could not be more excited about the good news. The film starred Best Actress Kara Wai Ying Hung and Hugo Goh (Ng Toi Yung) as a blind couple, Karena Ng Chin Yu as their daughter in a heart warming story. Based on the director Chu Fung Han's family, the story was about blind parents who gave birth to a sighted daughter. As an adult the daughter feels that she is nothing more than her parent's guiding cane and has a love hate relationship with her family.

SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE was Chu Fung Han's writing and directing feature film debut. She said, "I am grateful that SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE is able to break out of Asia, to be shared and have exchanges with the audience on the other side of the globe. SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE is my writing and directing debut. The story is about 'family'. I hope through the protagonist's experience the audience would be able to relate, understand and accept the various imperfections of life but still be able to maintain hope! I would like to thank my actors for their hard work and contribution, the entire team for their participation, the film company for their support and belief in my story! Finally, thank you Udine Film Festival for giving my work the chance to participate!"

SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE last year already had over 100 screenings. Sister Hung played the blind mother, viewers who have seen the film had nothing but praise for her performance. Sister Hung was also very grateful for the film's international film festival selection. "I am very happy to be able to work with such an outstanding director, and happy for such a good movie to be able to participate in this year's Udine Film Festival. The story is based on the director's story with her parents. I feel it is very meaningful to be able to introduce the handicapped to even more people. Actually they have an independent and kind heart to help others too. I feel honored to have played this role in my life."

Song God Jacky Cheung Hok Yau began work on the Emperor Motion Picture HOI GUAN JIN SIN (CUSTOMS FRONT LINE), since working on HEAVEN IN THE DARK (UM SIK TIN TONG) in 2016 he rarely participated in film production. However earlier on his first day at work he was still in rather good shape and looked much younger. Playing a customs agent in the film, he and Ting Fung had many scenes together. On the first day of work they were already in full gear, running into a warehouse with guns in hand for a gun fight scene. Because Ting Fung was personally in charge of the action, Hok Yau admitted that he trusted him and left everything in Ting Fung's hands.

Two days ago around 5 PM, the team went to a delivery service company for location shoot. The staff was busy with the preparation. Later director Herman Yau Lai To appeared. Around 40 to 50 people were on site.

Around 7 PM, Hok Yau in a casual wear appeared and began the shoot. That night he got a break from the fighting as he worked on a dramatic scene. Hok Yau carried a backpack and went to the counter with a serious look to chat with the actor who was playing the clerk. Then he took out a pen and wrote. Although Hok Yau has not made a movie in a very long time, he still had ample experience. As soon as work began he was able to rapidly get into character. After two shots that scenes was completed.

[2022.04.08] JAPANESE MANGA LEGEND FUJIO A FUJIKO PASSED AWAY AT HOME

courtesy of singtao.com

Famous Japanese manga creator Fujio A Fujiko (originally named Motoo Abiko) passed away yesterday in his Kawasaki home at age 88.

Fujio A Fujiko's work included NINJA HATTORI-KUN, CHILDHOOD DAYS, and THE MONSTER KID. He and the late DORAEMON creator Fujio F Fujiko (originally named Hiroshi Fujimoto) for a long period used the pen name "Fujio Fujiko" together on works like LITTLE GHOST Q-TARO.

Motoo Abiko and Hiroshi Fujimoto were friends of many years. Abiko was once asked after Fujimoto's death would he take over DORAEMON? The former said that it was not something he could create. Years later in memoirs and interviews they denied that they were at odds. They kept splitting the DORAEMON royalty evenly, only Hiroshi Fujimoto after learning that he had cancer in 1986 was afraid that his family after his passing would fight with Fujio A Fujiko over the DORAEMON royalty. Thus they decided to go their separate ways.
