According to the Hong Kong Box Office Co. Ltd, the 2017 Hong Kong film total box office was HK$ 1,853,957,566, a drop of 4.81% from 2016's HK$ 1,947,596,448. Last year among the highest grossing Hong Kong films, in first place was LOVE OFF THE CUFF (CHUN GIU GAU JI MING) with a cumulative box office of HK$ 30,256,619; in second place was SHOCK WAVE (CHAK DAN JUEN GA) with HK$ 25,360,088, in third place was JOURNEY TO THE WEST: THE DEMONS STRIKE BACK with HK$ 23,634,946.
As for the highest grossing non Hong Kong films, on top was the live action version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with a cumulative box office of HK$ 67,232,357. In second place was SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. In third place was THOR: RAGNOROK. In tenth place LOGAN made HK$ 38,540,970, even higher than LOVE OFF THE CUFF's box office.
