The hacker action crime film CYBER HEIST (DUEN MONG)
is slated for release on March 9th. The cast included three Hong Kong
Film Award Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Simon
Yam Tat Wa. In the film Sing Sing not only risked his life for the
action scenes, the large scale computer graphics internet world and
the most eye catching internet forest that was shot on location in Nam
Sang Wai cost over HK$ 20 million to produce. Lam Ka Tung spoke of
this new way to shoot the internet world. "The elements in the film
are rather rich, the dark web left people in awe and would make
everyone pay attention to how we would interpret the entire internet
world. It was even a new attempt from the director." Sing Sing said,
"When we open a message we would enter the internet world, performing
both sides alternately was something that would be rather fresh."
In the production special, playing the internet expert Kwok
Fu Sing entered the dark web where danger lurked around every corner.
Sing Sing's web dark virtual identity has been revealed! Sing Sing wore
a surreal reflective mask and a lighted dark hoodie. The visual only
had darkness and light, fully utilizing the light and shadow to express
the dark effects and the dark web's spookiness. Kwok Fu Sing said
about his dark web look, "It's like a light emitting object, an energy
that was moving in an electrical wire." Art director Man Lim Chung
said, "I deliberately put the actors in a transparent reflective mask,
on the mask I added some digital elements that would be able to
strengthen the feel of the digital world." In addition speaking of the
production team shooting on location in a real forest in Nam Sang Wai
to be used for the internet forest and combine the actual and the
virtual effects, which displayed even more surreal results.
Sammi Cheng declines to remove her mask all night and says that her husband Andy Hui witnesses the entire tooth chipping incident, even the cat at home is making fun of her.
Alan Luk reveals that his wife brings her luggage to support the premiere before her flight. Hedwig Tam (right) says that the recovery from her leg injury as the new film opens is a good omen
courtesy of mingpao.com
Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Alan Luk Chun Kwong, Hedwig Tam Sin
Yin and other actors of the film LOST LOVE (LAU SHUI LOK FA) two nights
ago with director Ga Sing Fung attended the charity premiere; wearing
a mask all night, Sammi actually had a reason. Recovered from her leg
injury and not longer needing a cane, Tam Sin Yin felt that this was
a good omen. Luk Chun Kwong was also glad to see his secondary school
classmates and his wife fully supporting him. Louise Wong Dan Nei
even came by herself to support the film!
Sammi and Luk Chun Kwong after attending the LOST preview
screening audience appreciation event appeared gain at the charity
premiere screening; Sammi revealed that her husband Andy Hui Chi On
liked the subject of LOVE and has already seen it once. Later he would
watch it with her again. However speaking of the box office, Sammi
admitted that she did not have much confidence. She stated that her
recent films' box office has been "iffy". In addition this film was
considered an alternative subject, thus she did not dare to have an
expectation of the box office. However she had expectation for word of
mouth, because this was a family film that was suitable for all ages.
It was able to touch people's soul and inspire their hearts; most
recently Hong Kong films have had many different styles and received
the support of many. She also hoped everyone would go to the movies to
support this film and give encouragement and attention to a new
director's film.
Speaking of Gigi Leung Wing Kei's just completed concert
series received praised on social media by "two faced" DJ Leung Man
Lai but slammed on his secret account, as her concert guest performer
Sammi said that she knew Gigi's personality very well. Gigi has
already used her own way to respond, as an outside she was not at
liberty to comment more. Has she met any "two faced people"? She
paused for awhile then said that she had no comment. Speaking of
wearing the mask all night, even during photo opportunities, Sammi
awkwardly revealed, "The night before I had an accident with a very
hard snack look, I chipped my tooth outrageously. However today I
had activities very early, I couldn't go to a dentist in time. Now
I am very ugly, so I have to use a cloth to hide my shame (mask).
(What were you eating with such intensity?) Sigh, don't bring it up.
However I really was pretty intense, when I ate it I was pretty
happy. Now I am sad, as I can't use my tooth; next time I would be
careful, I have to eat baby good. (At home would you also wear a
mask to keep On Jai from seeing you now?) He has already witnessed
everything, it really was very gross! (Did On Jai laugh?) Even the
cat is laughing at me, now when I take off my mask it's even funnier.
I really never thought something like this would happen!"
In addition, Luk Chun Kwong said that he was very grateful that
despite having to take a flight that night, his wife still brought her
luggage to the location to cheer him on. Even more unexpected was that
his secondary school classmates already booked a show to support this
film. Earlier requiring a cane to walk due to a leg injury, Tam Sin
Yin was moving about freely. She happily said that to be able to run
around and promote the movie was a good omen, but for now she could only
walk and not run. She also could not exercise or work on action scene.
Thus earlier she could go with the WARRRIOR WITHIN 2 team to shoot on
location in Japan, which she was a little upset about.
Making the trip to show her support, Wong Dan Nei said about
her new short hair look that she has never cut her hair this short.
This time she changed her do for her new film's bold character.
Has her husband Sheldon Lo (Law Hau Yung) said that holding her would
be like holding a boy? She said, "He is very happy! He says I always
give him different impressions, like constantly changing girlfriends;
in addition like many Korean style short hairstyles they are able to
increase her feminine charm; with the suitable character I wouldn't
mind cutting it even shorter. Even if I have to get it buzz or shave
it bald I would be willing!" Currently busy with her film
production and audience appreciation for her film A GUILTY CONSCIENCE
(DUK SIT DAI JONG) she took time to attend. She said because Sammi
was very supportive of the film ANITA and a very nice person as well.
Sammi has taken great care of her, thus she also has been very
supportive of Sammi. She was also drawn to this film's subject,
when she was that Sammi was performing almost without make up in the
trailer and almost could not recognize her. She felt more tense for
her and looked forward to watching the film.
Andy Lau shoots a video to ask Mainland viewers to strongly support A GUILTY CONSCIENCE and praised Dayo Wong for his outstanding acting
A GUILTY CONCIENCE has already surpassed HK$ 150 million, in the Mainland after 4 days in release it also made 72 million. courtesy of mingpao.com
The Dayo Wong Tze Wa starred film A GUILTY CONSCIENCE
(DUK SIT DAI JONG) after 38 days in release has made over HK$ 150
million. Its strong momentum continued to the Mainland, according to
the Maoyan box office data indicated, A GUILTY CONSCIENCE after 4 days
in release as of 7PM last night has accumulated over 64 million RMB.
It stood firmly top of the single day box office.
The Andy Lau Tak Wa starred science fiction film THE WANDERING
EARTH II as of yesterday after 37 days in release in the Mainland has
made 3.9 billion RMB. Wa Jai shot a video in Cantonese and asked the
Mainland audience to strongly support A GUILTY CONSCIENCE and also
hoped to have chance to work with Wong Tze Wa on a comedy. He said,
"A GUILTY CONSCIENCE is very authentic Hong Kong film, maintains the
Hong Kong comedy that I have liked from childhood to now. In the
film you can see many, many scenes that are very close to Hong Kong
life and culture, and comedy and sentiments in lives of different
classes in Hong Kong. All of Tze Wa's performance, actually from the
very start to now, I have been paying attention to. On the stage he
truly radiates, his performance in the film is also good as always."
A GUILTY CONSCIENCE has passed HK$ 100 million at the box office.
After earlier Dee Ho Kai Wa removed his pants to pay the bill at the
celebration. Then it was Louise Wong Dan Nei's turn to pay the bill. Earlier
she declared, "Starting from ankle, for every 1 million I would move
up 1 cm. However it would be me, Yeung Sze Wing (Renci), Liew Chi Yu
(Fish) three of us together." She posted a black and white photo on
social media, in the photo she wore a mini skirt to show her long legs.
She wrote, "Showing off my legs, paying off the bill #real woman pays
the bill #pay the earlier thousand person banquet's bill first
#deliberately wear a super miniskirt #if the number keeps rising next
time I would wear swimming trunks". People online praised her long
legs, she said that they were the results to trying to extend as much
as she could. However for a model for her, showing her legs was a
piece of cake.
The Hong Kong film CYBER HEIST (DUEN MONG) would
officially open on March 3rd in the Mainland. Yesterday, the film's
producer Soi Cheang Pou Soi, director Wong Hing Fan, stars Aaron Kwok
Fu Sing and Gordon Lam Ka Tung came to City of Rams and participated
in the "Guangzhou premiere" screening tour exchange. As the Mainland's
first internet financial crime film, CYBER HEIST visualized internet
elements like firewall and viruses and put hard to be seen online
criminal behaviors like dark web money laundering and illegal
transactions on display. At the same time, the film also remembered
to continue the traditional Hong Kong film's classic elements like gun
fights, chase scenes, car chases, close combat, explosion.
"Internet crime is very rampant, in the cases that were
revealed in the Mainland in recent years the highest amount involved
was 5.5 billion (RMB)." Wong Hing Fan admitted that the original
intent of making this movie was to remind everyone to be careful of
internet trap.
"The internet world portion had quite a sense of immersion,
a feeling of entering into the virtual reality world." Many Guangzhou
viewers talked about how they felt after the viewing. Earlier, some
said that this film would make Mainland viewers a lot of new opinions
about Hong Kong films. Aside from innovating, producer Cheang Pou Soi
also continued to provide some of his golden ideas. For example,
coming up with the director this concept of the "internet forest".
However this creative director was rather difficult, very challenging
to the imagination. Ultimately the film would be facing the general
public and needed to keep in mind the viewing experience of those who
did not know computers or internet life. Wong Hing Fan also praised
Sing Sing and Ka Tung. They performed with nothing physical in the
internet world and achieved what good actors should achieve.
In order to create an internet world with visual impact for
the audience, Sing Sing lamented that the internet crimes that in the
past would only be words on the screen, in this film would require a
performance. This also needed a lot of extra production time and
effort. Simply said, actors needed to first perform once in front of
the computer then perform again after entering the internet world.
"The same scene needed to be played twice." Sing Sing
revealed, like some emotions with some things in life and some
emotions after entering the "internet forest", because of the special
effect these emotions would need to have certain differentiations in
detail. The detailed handling would needed to be more focused, which
occasionally would feel rough. However Sing Sing still could not help
but praise the directors' structure setting.
Sing Sing in the film had a 6 year old daughter with a heart
defect. As a father of a 5 year old girl in real life, Sing Sing said
that he often empathized with the character. Before the film started
production when he studied the character with the producer and the
director, Sing Sing talked with them about family, children and a lot
of experience from life details. He also confidently said, in CYBER
HEIST the audience could easily empathize with some of his performance.
Claiming to be "financial management idiot" in the internet
world, Ka Tung not only came to Guangzhou to promote but also took the
opportunity to experience the late night snacks. However he did not
know how to use online payment, when he paid with cash he would be
"several beats slower". After working on CYBER HEIST, Ka Tung had
even more new knowledge of the internet but he reminded the audience.
"The internet would be a convenience to people, but it also would use
people at the same time. How not to get swallowed up by the internet
requires a little awareness."

The PAG after 3 years brings back the Spring tea party, with over 100 members in attendance courtesy of mingpao.com
After the pandemic, the Hong Kong Performing Artist
Guild after 3 years earlier again held a spring tea party that
attracted over 100 members like Helena Law Lan, Yu Mo Lin, Fung So Bo,
Wong Ha Wai, Ting Yu, Susan Shaw Yam Yam, Cheung Lui and others. The
Guild announced that starting this Spring Banquet, the "Outstanding
Performing Art Award" would be added to honor elder artists who
have given performing art their valuable youth and made numerous
contributions. Yu Mo Lin, Kong To and Lai Suen were the first winners.
Yu Mo Lin shed tears of joy when she accepted the award on the stage,
sobbing as she thanked President Koo Tin Lok for taking care of them.
The Performing Artist Guild at the Spring Tea Party added
the presentation of the Outstanding Performing Art Awards. President
Koo Tin Lok personally presented the awards to elder artists, one of
the winners, the 92 year old Lai Suen received the award at home from
Vice President Candy Yu On On. Lai Suen looked very sharp on camera
and even said that she felt happy to receive the award.
At the tea party two elder recipients Yu Mo Lin and Kong To
personally accepted their awards from Koo Tin Lok. When Yu Mo Lin
accepted the award she was emotional and moved to tears. She got
choked up as she said, "Thank you thank you, today I am very happy to
see so many old friends. I haven't seen them in several years. Thank
you President (Koo Tin Lok) for taking care of us all and continuing
to hold more events." Yu Mo Lin admitted that after decades in film
she has never won any award, so she was very surprised. "I am very
touched that someone gave an award to me, I thought I wouldn't be
able to have an award in this lifetime. I used to walk all over the
Five Station Hill, people called me Five Station Lin but I have never
had an award. I comforted myself and told myself that my home was
small and had no place for it. Today I am very surprised to receive an
award on my performing art journey. I would put this award in the
living room."
Yu Mo Lin has had pulmonary fibrosis since 2020. She had to
stay at the intensive care unit. After her release from the
hospital she has been actively recovering. Although when she walked
she still needed a walker's assistance, but through the tea part she
was in decent spirits and spoke smoothly. Yu Mo Lin said, "Many people
who went to the ICU might not be able to come back out, so I am very
grateful. The doctor said there is no cure. I can only get two
targeted shots every year to keep it from coming back. If it does then
it's bye bye, but I am not scared. Everyone has to die, the most
important is to go in your sleep, not to suffer very much, not to be in
a hospital. Earlier laying at the hospital for half a year was really
very tough; now early in the morning I would ask Sister (the caretaker)
to go to the park with me. The doctor told me to walk more, otherwise
the muscles would contract. After walking in the park I would go to
use the cycling machine at MacPherson."
Another winner elder Kong To was deeply elated to receive the
award. He said, "I really like to act, in the future you can still ask
me to perform. Although my role earlier in SUK SUK was small, I was very
happy. I hope to have a chance to act again. I am not so old that I
can't walk, I can still perform for the audience."
Aaron Kwok fights amid the dangers of bamboo scaffolding courtesy of on.cc
Best Actor Aaron Kwok Fu Sing supported Hong Kong film
over the years with action. Aside from willing to take a reduced rate
for a movie during the pandemic when the film industry entered a never
before seen winter, but also actually guest starred at a friendly
rate for a movie that stalled during the pandemic. Although he only
worked for two short days, Sing Sing still gave his all in his
performance.
Sing Sing despite being in the Best Actor class still kept
accepting acting challenges in pursuit of perfection. In recent years
he even worked hard to repay the film industry. Aside from being the
Hong Kong International Film Festival ambassador for 5 years in a row,
he even at the peak of the pandemic in 2020 willingly took a 30%
discount on his salary to work on the film CYBER HEIST. Rarely a
guest star, he in order to support his colleagues guest starred in the
Louis Koo Tin Lok and Raymond Lam Fung starred film TWILIGHT OF THE
WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI WAI SING) at a friendly rate.
Reportedly the reason Sing Sing guest starred was his friendship with
the film's producer Soi Cheang Pou Soi. The film ran into many
obstacles during the shoot, including crew members testing positive
for COVID and injuries to actors due to the massive amount of action
scenes. The production time thus was extended and the entire shoot
process stalled. He guest starred not only as an added attraction to the
original cast but also served as a huge encouragement to the team with
his stringent attitude toward work.
Sing Sing would risk his life each time he worked on a movie.
Working with two other Best Actor Gordon Lam Ka Tung and Simon Yam Tat
Wa in CYBER HEIST, he had plenty of action scenes. Sing Sing insisted
on personally perform many of them, shooting a chase scene at Central
with a scene in which he was being dragged down a flight of steps; but
also shot two heart pounding action scenes. One of which shot on
location at Central's Tai Kwun. Sing Sing had to jump down from a
floor up, crash toward a stall then land. When he landed a loud bang
was heard, the entire venue was stunned. Although obviously the fall
was not light, Sing Sing still squeezed out of a smile as usual. He
rubbed his thigh, said that he was OK and kept shooting.
In another action scene, the film team set up a red bamboo
scaffolding in the center of the hall to shoot Sing Sing climbing up
high and fighting to evade capture. He not only ducked in and out of
the scaffolding but also slid from the top in high speed. From the
film company released video, after every take Sing Sing would be
drenched in sweat. He stated, "During the shoot someone grabbed my
leg and dragged me across the floor, which indeed left wounds all over.
The crew was very concerned about me on the set and immediately asked
if I was fine. However I felt that the result was rather good, so I
felt it was worth the injury. I hope everyone would like it."
Gardner Tse admits being a homebody, when he is not at work he likes to just be at home
Gardner Tse's A GUILTY CONSCIENCE performance has earned him great reviews, but he never imagined that a movie he is in would make over HK$ 100 million
Gardner Tse says that co-star Stephy Tang is very focused, working with her is a lot of fun as they set off a lot of spark.
Gardner Tse says that both his wife and daughter are his loyal fans courtesy of mingpao.com
59 year old Gardner Tse Kwan Ho has won the Golden Horse
Award Best Actor, his acting is beyond any doubt. In recent years
he participated in many movies, including WARRIORS OF FUTURE (MING YUT
JIN GEI), HONG KONG FAMILY (GOR SI GOR JIK), A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK
SIT DAI JONG) and WHERE THE WIND BLOWS (FUNG JOI HEI SI) all won him
word of mouth. "Landing on 60" next month, he grew stronger and
stronger. In recent years he has become a film industry hot property.
Would he see the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor as his goal? Tse
Kwan Ho said that award has never been his goal, but an extra bonus.
The only thing he could do was to give his all to play every role
well. Speaking of his relationship with his wife and daughter, Tse
Kwan Ho said that they were his loyal fans; outside of being an
actor, he was a homebody.
In half a year, Tse Kwan Ho already had 5 film releases. He
said that never happened before, and he felt very happy. To be able to
greet the Hong Kong film audience he has not seen in a very long time
all at once was decent too, as he was grateful for the viewer support.
His Lunar New Year film A GUILTY CONSCIENCE is still in release, WHERE
THE WIND BLOWS also, his new film SHADOWS (CHAN YING HUNG GAN) opens
today (the 23rd). With 3 films in the race, Tse Kwan Ho said not to
say who was fighting who. The most important was for more viewers to
go to the movies. He hoped to be able to continue the strong momentum
of the Lunar New Year slot.
His A GUILTY CONSCIENCE performance has received good reviews.
Challenging a new character in a new film, Tse Kwan Ho was not worried
that the audience would make comparisons. He also had no pressure,
saying that this time playing a psychiatrist he had a completely
different performance method from playing a lawyer. "The lawyer
upholds justice and has quite a presence. The new film character is
very different, a psychologist with a very high IQ. He can see right
through people, but others can't guess what I am thinking. The feeling
is very mysterious, and I need to use my eyes to act." Because the
character involved psychology, Tse Kwan Ho before hand went to get
research from a psychologist in hopes of understanding even more to
help with getting into the character.
Tse Kwan Ho said that the most memorable in film was a debate
scene with Stephy Tang Lai Yun. On the surface he seemed to be
debating with Stephy, but actually his eyes kept observing her inside.
With two layers, he purely played emotional scenes and had a lot of
fun. Tse Kwan Ho praised co-star Stephy for being very focused and a
very experienced actor, working with her was a lot of fun as they set
off a lot of spark.
Speaking of "landing on 60" this year, Tse Kwan Ho said that he
did not have any major plan or goal. Leaving everything up to fate,
he was the happiest about being able to enjoy the HK$ 2 transportation
discount. Perhaps he would study his hobby of film photography. Would
he see the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor as his next life goal? Tse
Kwan Ho said that award has never been a goal, only extra bonus.
Whether he would win or not it would depend on timing, location and
people. If he would of course it would be great, if he would not he
could do nothing about that. Because of all the great actors, the only
thing he could do was to give his all to play every role well.
Having his foot on stage, in film and television, Tse Kwan Ho
admitted that he was greedy. He liked all 3 equally, each with its
own way to play and brought him different sense of satisfaction. "The
interaction with the audience is very direct in a play. Actors
perform all night without interruption, like experiencing a lifetime.
The audience would simultaneously sense that. Some mistook plays to
be same every night. Actually every night would be different, because
every night's audience would be different they would find something
new amid the repeat. The film divided into parts, but each part would
be very intricate. Film also had a very fun thing -- sometimes an
expression that couldn't be repeated. If you had great chemistry with
the cinematographer, capturing it would be very valuable. As for
television series, it is between a play and a movie. The production
time is rather long, as the character absorbs you for several months."
Outside of being actor, Tse Kwan Ho claimed to be a homebody.
Because work was already very cheerful, normally he liked to be at
home. He liked to get up early in the morning and enjoy coffee,
look at the scenery outside the window and think. With the remaining
time he would enjoy interests that he liked, like reading, photography,
exercising, at most he would invite a few friends to have a drink
at home. Are his wife and daughter his loyal fans? Tse Kwan Ho
smiled and said, "They both really like to watch. They are very
supportive, usually they would say OK in their review. They really
understand my work, they have never complained."
Tse Kwan Ho spoke about his relationship with his wife and
daughter. To be able to maintain a 28 year marriage with his wife, he
said that the most important is to communicate no matter what problem
you face, so everyone would know what the other one is thinking. "I
am considered a pretty easy going person." As for his daughter, Tse
Kwan Ho described their father daughter relationship was great. He
thought he was a funny Papa. "I think my daughter feels I am pretty
funny, because I am constantly playing pranks on her. I absolutely am
not a strict father, I would let go and let her try." His daughter
inherited his artistic genes and was deeply interested in art. Now
at the university she studied drawing related courses. "I am also in
this business, so sometimes I would share my experience with her.
Her work has quite an aura."
Michael Hui personally changes the English monologue to speak from his heart to Hong Kong courtesy of mingpao.com
The film WHERE THE WIND BLOWS (FUNG JOI HEI SI) brought
together a cast that was rarely seen in the Chinese film scene.
Aside from two Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Tony Leung Chiu Wai
as two great detectives Lui Lok and Nam Kong, the master class Best
Actor Michael Hui Koon Man, Patrick Tam Yiu Man, Gardner Tse Kwan Ho,
Elaine Jin (Kam Yin Ling) and other actors of substance also held
down the fort.
The film's subject was the 50's and 60's all-powerful "Four
Great Detectives". Hui Koon Man in the film played the Independent
Commission Against Corruption official Lee Tze Chiu, who battled
brains and brawn against the "Four Great Detectives". Lee Tze Wa in
the end met with many foreign officials, trying his best to convince
them to strictly deal with law enforcement's corruption. In it he
had to act while delivering a 5 minute long thought provoking dialogue
in English. Hui Koon Man said, "I am very happy to make WHERE THE
WIND BLOWS. Because I have experienced 60's and 70's Hong Kong, for
me the production seemed to have brought me back to the past."
When Director Philip Yung Tsz Kwong mentioned inviting Hui Koon Man
to perform in WHERE THE WIND BLOWS, he was turned down many times
until Hui Koon Man read the script. In particular after that English
dialogue, he empathized and agreed to perform. Hui Koon Man even
changed the English dialogue. The director said that dialogue was
what Hui Koon Man wanted to say to the Hong Kong audience, it would
absolutely be able to represent what Hui Koon Man wanted to say to
Hong Kong from the heart. Yung Tsz Kwong recalled that after shooting
the English monologue, Hui Koon Man asked him how was the performance.
Hui Koon Man's performance moved him to tears on the spot.
Hui Koon Man successfully brought life to the character. Many
who have seen the premiere and the previews praised his performance
as very surprising. The English monologue scene was the most
memorable. His gold class acting abilities also caught the admiration
of the award show voters, as he was nominated for the 16th Asian Film
Awards and the 41st Hong Kong Film Awards Best Supporting Actor.

The film A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG)
since its release has broken numerous box office records. Yesterday
it even made a historical moment in Hong Kong film history! As of
6 PM yesterday, A GUILTY CONSCIENCE's Hong Kong cumulative box office
has reached HK$ 100,017,474 as it strongly charged past the HK$ 100
million mark. Not only did it firmly sat atop the Hong Kong film
history but also became the first Hong Kong film to break HK$ 100
million in Hong Kong history.
Dayo Wong Tze Wa thanked the audience for granting them 100
million. "For me personally it's like finding a winning lottery
ticket, even though I didn't buy the ticket if I did perhaps I would
feel I deserved it. The feeling is like it fell from the Heavens,
drifted into my hand and won. It is also like going to Mars, I still
have to thank everyone for granting us this wonderful feeling." Fish
Liew Chi Yu said, "I am now a HK$ 100 million box office female star!"
Dee Ho Kai Wa said, "I am very honored to be able to participate in a
HK$ 100 million production. I am very afraid of using up my luck. I
hope that it isn't finished and is just the beginning. My fans can
change their tunes and chant 'Support Ho Kai Wa 100 million'."
As the pandemic eased and the social distancing
measures fully lifted, many Hong Kong films have been successful and
repeatedly set box office records. The Dayo Wong Tze Wa starred A
GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG) even passed the HK$ 100 million
mark. In the Mainland, many Spring Festival film releases also were
big successes, including the Zhang Yimou directed costume film FULL
RIVER RED. Since its release it has made over 4.4 billion RMB. The
Andy Lau Tak Wa and Jason Wu Jing starred THE WANDERING EARTH II made
3.8 billon RMB. The Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Mainland artist Wang Yibo
starred SILENT BLADE made 900 million RMB. The Deng Chao and Sun Li
starred PING PONG: THE TRIUMPH earlier retreated from the Spring
Festival slot and opened again on the 17th, reportedly to an average
box office performance. All 4 Mainland films would open in Hong Kong.
Ultimately the Hong Kong and the Mainland audience had different
tastes in movies, their box office performance would be difficult to
predict.
THE WANDERING EARTH II opened in Hong Kong on February 9th.
As of Monday (the 20th) after 12 days in release its box office
was HK$ 4.5 million, a less than ideal performance. However many who
have seen it has praised the special effect as well done, but minded
the 3 hour run time being too long. The story revolved around the
first film. The sun would soon be destroyed. Humanity on the
surface of Earth constructed a large drive engine to find a new home,
but danger lurked on the journey around the universe. In order to
save Earth, Wu Jing, Lau Tak Wa and other rose up and fought for
survival.
FULL RIVER RED would open on March 2nd, previews on
February 4th made HK$ 480,000. Perhaps because the subject was not
able to attract local viewers. In the story during the Southern
Song Dynasty, four years of Yue Fei's death, traitorous minister Qin
Hui led his army to the border for talks with a Jurchen mission.
The night before the meeting the Jurchen missionary died and his
confidential documents vanished. Zhang Yimou cut into a legendary
story with an unique angle, started with a mystery, told the story
with visuals. The actors in the film Shen Teng, Jackson Yee, Zhang
Yi, Lei Jiayi, Wang Jiayi and Yue Yunpeng each carried a secret
mission that no one would guess, bringing sensory stimulation and
requiring viewers to burn their brains.
The spy war SILENT BLADE will open on March 9th. The
Chinese Communist Party began its struggles in Shanghai in the 20s,
led an underground organization against various forces. In the
process of marching toward victory, the irreplaceable contributions of
those anonymous heroes deserved the credit. Tony Leung Chiu Wai and
Wang Yibo starred.
PING PONG: THE TRIUMPH would open on March 16th. Between
1992 and 1995, Cai Zhenhua, who was sent to coach a table tennis team
in Italy, was hired to return and lead players new and old to strike
back and rescue the men's table tennis team. The film was based on
the real story behind the 1995 Tianjun table tennis world
championship. Den Chao directed and starred in the film. From not
knowing how to play ping pong at all, he trained until he was able to
even play with his left hand. Sun Li played Deng Chao's wife,
supporting her husband on and off camera.

Two Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Gordon Lam Ka
Tung were known for giving their all. In their new film they fought
hard. Sing Sing personally performed high aerial stunts, while Ka
Tung fought in close combat with an injury. Their passion for the
film industry could be seen. Sing Sing even revealed that he already
had a complete plan, hoping to fulfill his dream before his "6
landing" and get a taste of directing.
Kwok Fu Sing and Lam Ka Tung earlier spoke about their film
CYBER HEIST (DUEN MONG) and shared their production experience. In
the film Sing Sing through the internet battled hackers and began
a series of fights with assassins sent by Ka Tung. He said that
this time was the movie with the most fight scenes since THE MONKEY
KING 2 (SAI YAU GEI ji SUEN NG HUNG SAM DA BAK GWUT JING). In
addition he performed all the stunts himself. "I fought for the
full 7 days for the Central chase scene. (Did you get hurt?)
Bruises all over are inevitable. CYBER HEIST is real fighting,
absolutely no trick. The first two days really took some getting
used to, I had to jump over walls and fight on scaffolds. I took
all the protective measure with all the padding."
Speaking of the scene in which their close combat under a
bed in a narrow room, both complained about how hot and tight it was.
Ka Tung even performed with an injury. "The night before while
working on another film my nose was injured and all swollen. The
colleagues told me to take a photo and sent it to producer Cheang Pou
Soi to cancel. I said, 'Trust me, because it's Cheang Pou Soi he
would still tell me to go." Sing Sing added, "The place really was
too narrow, just enough for us two actors and a cinematographer. I
had to grab the other's gun and had to use real strength, I was very
afraid of hurting him." Was it finished in one take? Ka Tung joked,
"Of course not, it's Cheang Pou Soi!"
Ka Tung said that both he and Sing Sing were film fanatics,
constantly talking about movies. He even revealed that Sing Sing
wanted to director, and Sing Sing also admitted that he already had
the whole thing planned. "I thought about it for 8 years, I already
have a script in mind. It would be about revenge, with friendship,
love and family, of course it would also have action. Maybe I would
direct and star, I hope to fulfill the dream before age 60."
