TVB and Radio Hong Kong last year jointly held the Hong Kong Gold Song Award ceremony. Reportedly the two stations fought over control last year and were less than pleasant. In addition with the lukewarm outside reviews, it would end after just one year. Radio Hong Kong would resume Top Ten Chinese Gold Song Awards in April, while TVB would conceive an award show with the Mainland. However TVB last month responded to media inquiries, "This station and Radio Hong Kong have always had a good working relationship. This station would not comment on untrue speculations.
Radio Television Hong Kong today held its New Spring group visit. Broadcasting director Eddie Cheung Kwok Choi announced that in May this year RTHK would hold the "Broadcasting 95 Years: Top Ten Chinese Gold Song Award concert". Taking part in the group visit, TVB general manager (business operations) Siu Sai Wo declined any interview. RTHK creative director Steven Ma Chun Wai said that the joint award show last year with TVB was due to the pandemic, not a long term collaboration. He said, "(Eric) Tsang Chi Wai's relationship with RTHK is great, so we wouldn't have dispute. In addition separate events have always been easier to organize."
