Taiwan actor Edward Chen, Mandy Tam Man Huen, Leung Chung Hang, Hazel Lam Hoi Tung and director Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) yesterday went to the cinema for their film LOVE AT FIRST LIE (BUT SI NEI BUT OI NEI)'s audience appreciation show. Mandy's romance was exposed earlier, she also generously said that this Christmas was the first that she spent with her director boyfriend Christopher, but they celebrated with a group of friends at her home instead of just the two of them. The Andy Lau Tak Wa produced and starred, Kwan Chi Yiu directed action crime film I DID IT MY WAY (CHIM HUNG) two days ago held its Beijing premiere. Wa Jai led a group of actors including Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Eddie Peng Yu-Yan, Cya Liu, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Philip Keung Ho Man, Lam Suet, Kevin Chu Kam Yin and Terrance Lau Chun Him to attend and spent a cheerful Christmas together at work.

The team wore gray sweat shirts with the film title to the premiere, and visited 9 cinemas in a row. They met with media and viewers. Wa Jai, Peng Yu-Yan and Cya Liu became the audience's foci. The host even rushed Eddie to get married. When Eddie greeted the audience, he wished everyone single to find their other halves soon. In fluent Putonghua he chanted a slogan, "I DID IT MY WAY! I DID IT MY WAY! NEXT YEAR LOVE ALL THE WAY!" Then the host joked, "Look out for yourself first!" Eddie could only smile in response and did not dare to say more.

Speaking of playing Wa Jai's wife in the film, Cya Liu said with satisfaction, "I don't thought that my dream would come rue, in addition I was able to strike back at Brother Ka Tung. Because earlier while working with Ka Tung on LIMBO (JI CHI) he kept hitting her, I didn't even dare to look at him directly. However this time was different, I can raise my head and look at him because I am his 'Dai Soh', Brother Wa's wife!" Even Ka Tung would have never imagined that in the film actually the "cruelest" character was her, he could not help but cried out "Dai Soh" and Cya could not be happier!

Ken Low Wai Kwong's former wife Bonnie Lai Suk Yin yesterday was found unconscious at home by her husband. She was rushed to hospital but in the end was confirmed dead.

Around midnight, Lai Suk Yin and her husband Hui Chi Ching held a barbecue with friends at home. Around 3 AM, Hui and friends left. At the time no one detected anything out of the ordinary. Lai on her personal social media platform posted a story of the barbecue and photos with her dog. Around 6 PM, Lai texted her husband via WhatsApp "See you in the next life." Around 1 pm, after returning home Hui found Lai unconscious in bed, burnt coal was found in the bedroom bathroom and he called the police.

The police did not find any suicide note. The cause of death would await the autopsy. The case has been listed as a suicide. Reportedly, Lai Suk Yin over the years has been fighting depression and attending her scheduled appointments. However her family life has been harmonious. Lately nothing has been out of the ordinary, and no one detected that she had suicidal thoughts.

Lai Suk Yin 1998 wed Low Wai Kwong and had two sons Lo Chun Yin (24) and Lo Chun Hei (18), but the marriage only lasted 8 years. After their 2006 divorce, Low Wai Kwong raised their sons. However the sons were still very close to their mother, constantly meeting for dinner. They even went on vacation with her two sons with her current husband.

Low Wai Kwong said that he has already learned about Lai Suk Yin's passing. His older son who was currently working in Hong Kong and his young son who has returned from studying in England two weeks ago rushed to the hospital already. He continued, two weeks ago he and Lai Suk Yin talked on the phone about their sons, but at the time her tone was peaceful and did not show any abnormal sign.

Currently working on a series in the mainland, Eva Lai Yin Shan found the news of her friend Lai Suk Yin's passing completely hard to accept. She sobbed, "Why would it be like this? I really can't accept it. We in recent years with a group of friends did charity work in a very low key manner, giving material to the basic level families and children. She often gave money and effort. We would go to her home for barbecue, eat and chat, but because I was too busy I couldn't go that day. We earlier even encouraged her for getting the highest score in her jewelry authentication certification. We even said that we would take her to dinner, unfortunately we haven't been able to." Ah Shan said that Lai Suk Yin was kind, loyal and a good Mama, putting all of her efforts into taking care of her family at home and outside. However how could life ever be perfect? She revealed that lately she was hiding something, originally she wanted to find a chance to chat with her. Now only regret remained. "I really don't know what to say, I can't accept it. I can only treat it like she went overseas. I hope she would be happier."

Yeung Yuk Mui was shocked to hear about Lai Suk Yin's passing, because only two days ago she texted her Merry Christmas and she replied. Yeung Yuk Mui was unable to attend Lai Suk Yin's birthday party earlier, and they even said that they would meet up later. "I really would have never guessed that something like this would happen. In my eyes she is a good Mama, really took care of her sons. She was very positive. In recent years she has been studying cooking and draw. She drew very well. I hope she would be able to rest in peace!"

Yam Tat Wa who has worked with her on a movie said, "I feel very upset, I don't know why life would be like this......I remember when we were in Holland working on YOUNG AND DANGEROUS. She was very happy, a nice girl. We didn't have too much time to talk, ultimate she was a girl and I had to keep my distance." He pointed out that they were not too familiar. After working together they have not met again. He lamented, "Hoi Mei (Kathy Chow) passed, many friends passed. Life is unexpected. I wished them all a safe journey. Everyone should cherish those in front of you. If you feel you took a wrong turn, turn around and in the end you would go back on the straight path. Everything can be resolved."

Lai Suk Yin in 1995 after becoming Miss Asia first runner up joined the business and performed in films like YOUNG AND DANGEROUS 3, 97' LAN KWAI FONG, and BIO-ZOMBIE with her share of sexy appearances. In 2002 after finishing the movie SHARK BUSTER (FAN SAU SO DUT HIN DUI) and remarrying Lai Suk Yin gradually eased out of on camera work to be a full time Mama. She once revealed because taking care of four children she did not have enough time no matter what, so she did not plan to make a full comeback. She would still be able to take some lighter jobs. This year she returned with the ViuTV series LEGAL AFFAIR, in which she guest starred as Norman Cheung Lap Kei's wife. At the time some online asked if she was making a comeback, she replied, "Yes, just messing around!" The series premiered on the 18th, but no one expected that it would be her final work.

Carlos Chan Ka Lok in the Emperor Motion Picture new film THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI) with Kaki Sham, Dee Ho Kai Wa and others formed a rick kid army opposite the Best Actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai played group founder and chair and Simon Yam Tat Wa played business partner. Ka Lok in the film even had physical and oral altercation with Wai Jai, with the 70's and 80's retro costume he stood out!

Director Chong Man Keung felt that Ka Lok in the film looked like Alan Tang Kwong Wing. Ka Lok felt honored and said, "Many on the staff has said that. When I put on this costume, slick my hair back and took my mark, everyone saw Mr. Tang Kwong Wing. I thought that's great, Mr. Tang Kwong Wing was an elder I really liked, I hope to be able to perform even better."

Ka Lok played a rich son of a banker. In the film Wai Jai tried his best to recruit him into his scheme, and later ended up in prison because of him. When they met for the first time at a dinner for the rich, the art team spent a lot of effort to bring back the 70s and 80s night club set. In order to make his frivolous and arrogant personality stand out, Ka Lok at his first meeting with Wai Jai in the film already aired his displeasure at him. Later in another scene Ka Lok was surprised to learn that Wai Jai dragged him into a loss. He angrily rushed into his and Brother Wa's meeting for drinks and even made physical contact. In two scenes he showed his color to the Best Actor. For a good performance, Ka Lok showed no fear and went head on with the two Best Actor. Ka Lok said, "Actually at first the script wasn't written with too many details, nor told me want to do. However I performed, I unknowingly pushed Mr. Leung once. Because I was very mad I pushed him. The director really liked it and said we could keep it, and I could push even harder. With the director's permission, I had the courage!"

Ka Lok in the film dared to get rough with Wai Jai, behind him was an army of gentlemen including Kaki, Ah Dee, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, Angus Yeung Tin Yue and Eric Tsui Ho Cheong. The younger generation felt honored to be able to perform with Best Actors Wai Jai and Yam Tat Wa. They even agreed that when they took their marks for their time, Wai Jai gave them two thumbs up to cheer them on, but with further consideration they discovered another secret. Kaki said, "After finishing the first take, Wai Jai told us more effort but only gave up one thumb up. Someone explained that Wai Jai hinted that two thumbs meant he would give us two chances. Now with only one we only had a chance. When that take went, Wai Jai indeed no longer gave any thumb up to us. He only said more effort, haha!"

[2023.12.25] PHILIP KEUNG LEARNS TO SCREENWRITE BEFORE DIRECTING

Philip Keung Ho Man had a full harvest in 2023. In recent months he had several movies opened, including BURSTING POINT (BAU LIT DIM), THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI), I DID IT MY WAY (CHIM HUNG), WOLF HIDING (NO CHIU) and the shot in Malaysia THE LOCKSMITH (SOR JIN), and a Lunar New Year film that would open in Malaysia. Hak Jai said that he was happy that he was so busy. "I don't dare to say full harvest, these films were made during the pandemic. Now they are released all at once, which is pretty shocking to me. I remember during the pandemic the market was poor, many people were affected because traveling required quarantine, productions had many restrictions. I continued to struggle and charge ahead, with the 'work as much as I could' mentality. The good news amid the bad news was that the performance was decent." He described the upcoming release THE GOLDFINGER had a cast that would only "come by once every century". His character traversed between superstars Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Andy Lau Tak Wa, he felt like he won a prize; in addition he worked with William Chan Wai Ting for the first time and set off spark in BURSTING POINT, he was very pleased with his performance.

Hak Jai revealed that he, Samantha Ko Hoi Ning, Raymond Wong Ho Yin, and Benz Hui Siu Hung starred in THE LOCKSMITH (SOR JIN). Playing the "locksmith", he in his everyday locksmith job ran into a case, unlocked the demon within people. His character went through a drastic change and gave his acting bug its fill. Before the shoot he took a few days of lock opening skill training. "Opening locks aren't easy, not just taken care of with a skeleton key. Inside the locks are balls and rings that needed to be adjusted, the level of intricacy was very wonderful. Honestly, if the lock at home is broken, with all the equipment I would be able to take care of it."

Malaysia was the home of Hak Jai's maternal grandmother, to him it had a special sense of familiarity. He won the first film award of his life in Malaysia, when he won Best Supporting Actor with SHOCK WAVE (CHAK DAN JUEN GA). He revealed that years later he made two movies in Malaysia, the Malaysian film market thrived and gradually became the general climate; filmmakers there were very willing to work with Hong Kong actors, directors and producers. Hak Jai hoped to play the bridge character and bring everyone out of Hong Kong.

Hak Jai in 1986 joined show business, from television to film his acting has been recognized. When asked if he had any plan to direct or screenwrite? He said, "I have thought about directing. This job isn't simple; it is tremendously difficult. I still need to absorb a little more. Now I am often coming up with stories with screenwriters. Everyone hope to come up with good ideas, and turn stories into movies. I want to make stories that are relatable and social subjects, I would be able to play the small characters under the social problems. I am also interested in special effect make up character, like THE ELEPHANT MAN. After make up no one would be able to recognize me, which would be an enormous challenge for actors."

[2023.12.25] AARON KWOK LEADS THE LUNAR NEW YEAR FILM

This Year of the Dragon Lunar New Year movie slate would first include ROB N ROLL (LUM SI GIP ONG) with the "bucktooth criminal mastermind" Aaron Kwok Fu Sng leading "part time robbers" Gordon Lam Ka Tung and Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai). The story would have its share of dark humor and action gun fights to satisfy the audience's sensory stimulation.

Last year the Stephy Tang Lai Yan, Minchen Lin and Louis Cheung Kai Chung starred TABLE FOR SIX (FAN HEI GUNG SUM) made HK$ 77 million at the box office. The team would return for a sequel as TABLE 2 would even add fresh meat Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun and bring in the audience with laughter during the New Spring. At the same time, the Anson Lo Hon Ting and Keung To starred Lunar New Year film THE MOON THI4V3S (DOH YUET JEH) earlier released its trailer. The story would involve the theft of the first moon landing watch. Keung To would play his first villain role and MIRROR fans would absolutely look forward to the film. The Lunar New Year film box office would be fiercely competitive.
