Known as "Ghost King", experienced artist Simon Lui Yue Yeung passed from stomach cancer at age 62. His Ma Li confirmed the news. Many of his friends in the industry were surprised. Emily Kwan Bo Wai could not speak from weeping. Amy Yip Chi Mei even recalled her recent encounters with Lui Yue Yeung.

Out of the public eye for a long time, Lui Yue Yeung had cancer before. It unfortunately returned over a year ago and he passed away from stomach cancer on the 7th of this month. When he passed his wife was by his side. His family hoped to handle the funeral in a low key manner. Lui Yue Yeung was rather active in the 90s film industry, making supernatural film series TROUBLESOME NIGHT (YUM YEUNG LO) with Louis Koo Tin Lok, Ng Chi Hung and had decent relationships with them. Ng Chi Hung stated that he would head north and see him off, "I have know him since working on movies together to now. I wish a safe journey for my good brother, no sickness or pain in Heaven."

Edmond Poon Siu Chung worked with Lui Yue Yeung at the radio station and later took over his Metro Radio supernatural program. Poon Siu Chung said that at the time he has not yet had the opportunity to work with Lui Yue Yeung on the program because Lui Yue Yeung had another mission -- to train a group of new DJs. In his impression he had a strict side with newcomers. He valued efficiency at work and was very fast paced. In 2023 Poon Siu Chung invited Lui Yue Yeung for an interview on his ViuTV program. "Although he was 'Ghost King', on the program he said that he has not had any supernatural experience."

Yip Chi Mei revealed that in recent years she has run into Lui Yue Yeung in Guangzhou many times. Later she heard that due to throat cancer he had difficulty speaking. He kept up with treatment and his voice became extremely hoarse, his condition was heartbreaking. Seeing her good friend suffering, she at the time comforted him. "I understood. That's life. People have a lot of cancer cells, fighting a war against themselves. There is nothing we can do." She lamented the impermanence of life. When Heaven arranged for you to go then you go. Currently working on a film in Malaysia, Kwan Bo Wai wept and pointed out that Lui Yue Yeung was always great to her. Lui Yue Yeung at the time took great care of her, even removing his jacket to keep her from the flame.

Lui Yue Yeung in 1988 entered the business after graduating from the TVB artist training class. Early on he participated in variety programs and series performances. Later he switched to be a radio program host and rose to fame with supernatural programs and the classic program BANANA CLUB, in addition he performed in many horror films like TROUBLESOME NIGHT (YUM YEUNG LO) and thus was dubbed "Ghost King". Among his TROUBLESOME NIGHT roles, the "storyteller" Brad Pitt was the most classic and the memory of a generation growing up. Aside from on screen performance, Lui Yue Yeung later retreated behind the camera as a director and a producer. He also provided his voice to animated films MOSTERS INC. and MONSTER UNIVERSITY. He also created a song for Cally Kwong Mei Wan. In the 2010s he gradually switched to business, opened a restaurant in mainland China and settled in Guangzhou.

In 2012 he made a guest appearance in the Chapman To Man Chak and Ronald Cheng Chung Kei starred film VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET), the "Beef Favorite" scene has become a classic scene.

Lui Yue Yeung married Ma Li, a female anchor 21 years his junior. They met due to work. At the time Ma Li as a mainland television station news anchor, they met because of an artist interview. Despite their age difference he still began his pursuit. In 2012 he and Ma Li made the trip to Hong Kong to register their marriage and had one son after. Lui Yue Yeung said that he turned down far away jobs to spend more time with family, but over the years divorce have been frequently rumored between them. Ma Li has been active on social platforms but rarely mentioned her family status.
