The Alan Mak Siu Fai, Felix Chong Man Keung directed, Derek Yee Tung Sing and Fong Ping produced OVERHEARD (SIT TING FUNG WON) yesterday held a press conference in Wanchai. Lau Ching Wan, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Louis Koo Tin Lok, Michael Wong Man Tak, Alex Fong Chung Shun and William Chan Wai Ting attended.
Koo Tin Lok felt very honored to have the chance to work with Brother Ching Wan because in the script he was older than Ching Wan. He not only required make up but also weight gain in hopes of being more convincing. Chan Ting Wai thanked the veteran actors for patiently waiting for his bad takes. Ching Wan expressed that during the shoot the cast had spark and the chemistry was better than expected. Goo Jai said that on the first meeting when he learned that Ching Wan and Ng Yin Cho would perform he was already very relaxed. He has worked with Ching Wan eight times. Later the director finally understood why he would be so at ease: the trio's chemistry was enormous and created brother like relationships. Ng Yin Cho said that after reading the script he felt that they would have quite a bond, perhaps due to their eyes. He also joked that he was very afraid early in the shoot because Ching Wan and Goo Jai were very tan while he was not. He was worried that he could not join them.
Koo Tin Lok expressed that after reading the script, he felt the director was playing a trick on him because he was three or four years older than Ching Wan. Ching Wan immediately joked, "I have to play 26 year old, Goo Jai has to play 30 year old. I am just kidding." Goo Jai said that in order to play a mature character, he had to gain 30 pounds and get a new hairstyle. Ching Wan joked that getting fatter than him was very hard because he was already like this. Goo Jai said that gaining weight was not tough but losing weight was. By the end of the film he had to lose weight like mad. Losing 30 pounds in three days would be the best. As for Goo Jai's secret, he expressed that he would not eat anything in three days, everyday he would run for two hours every six hours. Did he want to faint and die? He said that the final scene was about him wanting to die, so he would be lucky if he did not. Ching Wan was asked whether he was gaining weight for a movie. He said that he would be like that occasionally because he did not run every six hours. At most he would run every dozen hours or more.
Ng Yin Cho was accused to be at odds with Edison Chen Koon Hei. He expressed that he did not know about Chen Koon Hei's recent return to Hong Kong, interview or apology to the female victims. He did not have any opinion because the case took place a long time ago. As for rumors that Chen Koon Hei would like to return to work in Hong Kong, Daniel said, "He has to take care of it himself first, that has nothing to do with my view or other people's. He has to rely on himself."
Chan Ting Wai expressed that this was his first film so he was very nervous. He said that the scene in which he dined with Koo Tin Lok had the most take. With five or six takes, he made Goo Jai eat a lot of rice. Each bad take he ate half a box. William expressed that Goo Jai was not mad and even very patiently instructed him. He honestly said that during the shoot he had stage fright.
