Donnie Yen, Eva Huang and Wang Baoqiang's trip to Cannes is fruitful

The 66th Cannes Film Festival has already closed. This year Chinese films' overseas sales performed very well. YOUNG DETECTIVE DEE: RISE OF THE SEA DRAGON (DIK YUN KIT ji SUN DOH LUNG WONG) even prepared an 8 minute 3D teaser and was successfully sold to over 30 countries.

Reportedly the best selling film was ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP). Stars Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Eva Huang Shengyi and Wang Baoqaing went to promote the film and motivated the film's sales. Its North American sale even broke the highest overseas sales price for all Chi Tan films, doubling that was FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP). It made over US$5 million from the rights to over ten countries.

Hugo Boss two nights ago held a 2013 winter fashion show in Shanghai. Chow Yun Fat and Cherie Chung Chor Hung since ONCE A THIEF (JUNG WAN SEI HOI) and AN AUTUMN'S TALE (CHAU TIN DIK TUNG WA) have not worked together again. Two nights ago they reunited and posed for photos with Fat Soh. With younger version of themselves Huang Xiaoming and Michelle Chen also on hand, Fat Gor said that it was a rare sighting of "Two Chow Yun Fat, Two Chung Chor Hung". Although Hung Goo humbly said that Michelle Chen was young and pretty unlike her, Fat Gor joked, "Tonight there are two Chow Yun Fat and two Chung Chor Hung because Xiaoming and Michelle are here too, they look like us!"

Hung Goo said that in the morning she just ran into Fat Gor at the gym and praised Fat Gor for being fit and handsome. Was she tempted to work with Fat Gor again? She said, "Yes! If Fat Gor asks, I won't reject. (LOVE IN THE BUFF sequel?) I am not playing Jimmy or Cherie, I don't mind playing Fat Gor's wife or girlfriend."

Fat Gor arrived with Fat Soh and looked for God of Gamblers, but he jokingly denied that he was playing Ko Chun. "My hair is combed to the left, God of Gamblers' hair is all combed to the back." He said that Hung Goo was getting prettier and prettier. Hung Goo recently has been caught with guys on the street. Fat Gor said in Putonghua, "Encouragement! Encouragement!" He told Hung Goo to meet more guys. As for Hung Goo being willing to work with him again, Fat Gor said, "I have to have a script first. Hung Goo can't be (Shawn) Yue Man Lok's Ma, it's more like Yue Man Lok should play her old man." Will he compete with Yue Man Lok for Miriam Yeung Chin Wa? He said, "Then what will Chung Chor Hung do? With a four way romance, Director Pang (Ho Cheung) will have to think about it." What about AN AUTUMN'S TALE sequel? Fat Gor said, "Would anyone want to see it? I am setting up shot in Cheung Chau, not Long Island. Yet TVB series is shooting in Cheung Chau. I will change it to shoot on Lamma Island."

Television fan Fat Gor also watched BEAUTY AT WAR (GUM JI YUK YIP YI). He said, "I don't understand it, so I have someone to explain it ot me. Actually the series is good, but it requires patience to watch. The general viewer has difficulties with the palace inside and out."

Turning 30 yesterday Michelle Chen said that Hung Goo was her idol. "She is the goddess of my heart. The first time I met her I was very nervous. I definitely will get a picture with her, it's my biggest birthday wish." Michelle Chen finally got her wish and even posted her photo with Hung Goo online. She said that she was under Hung Goo's spell. She also celebrated her birthday with co-workers and Mickey Mouse.

Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng work on the BLIND DETECTIVE poster

Andy Lau Tak Wa and Sammi Cheng Sau Man earlier worked on the film BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM)'s poster. He revealed that he secretly used Johnnie To Kei Fung's personality as a blue print for his character. He imagined that even with sight he would still be a strict director who yelled at people on the set. "Every time I play a difficult character I would find someone to study. Even To Kei Fung and Sammi don't know this secret. For every scene I asked To Kei Fung to rehearse with me, sometimes I even wanted him to say the lines ones to study his attitude and tone." Sammi looked surprised when she heard.

Sammi appreciated having a solid script, which made her performance easy. She said, " I perform with instinct, the most important is the co-star and the script. This film's script is very solid, a great platform for me to perform at ease with full force. I can give myself completely to To Sir. He wants me to be exaggerated, perform wildly, crazy but not out of control, even stronger than my past films so the scenes are more powerful and funnier!"

In addition Wa Jai's romantic scenes were not with Sammi but with Mainland actress Gao Yuanyuan. In the film Wa Jai and Gao Yuanyuan danced ballroom dances, but Wa Jai admitted during the shoot Yuanyuan stepped on his toes until they were swollen. However he did not blame Yuanyuan. "Perhaps I wasn't leading too well, from the beginning we can't quite grasp the rhythm and the speed so I kept getting stepped on."

Lau Tak Wa and Sammi changed into many different looks. Sammi held a gun and looked like a very cool cop.

Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin appeared on a TVB Entertainment News Station program interview. In 2007 with the film DIARY (MONG SEUNG) she won the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival Best Actress. "Now the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress is my goal. Even if I am 60 when I win it's not too late."

Speaking of her Twins partner Gillian Chung Yun Tung, Ah Sa said that they had a lot of chemistry. When they had a difference of opinion at most they would be in a cold war. "I remember when something happened to Ah Gil, the company told me to release a solo record. I was 100,00 times unwilling, but Ah Gil comforted me. She said that although we were a group, I shouldn't stop."

Charlie Yeung Choi Nei and Tsui Hark in 1994 worked together on the film THE LOVERS (LEUNG JOOK). Since then they remained friends. Earlier when Charlie directed CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI), Tsui Hark who always gave suggestions to the film at the film company's invitation became the film's producer with another famous filmmmaker Jacob Cheung Chi Leung. Tsui Hark said that he worried a little about producing this time. "I was very afraid of scaring Charlie because I am very honest at work. I wouldn't show any mercy. I feel with filmmaking, courtesy is useless. The focus is getting what the director wants. Sometimes when I got less than courtesy, I would feel I was too impulsive. However my personality is like that and I can't do anything about it!"

Tsui Hark even stated that when Charlie was making the movie, he never visited the set because he did not want to hinder her work. "As a director I don't want producers to come to the set. They can come to play and have no problem, but if they come to watch how I shoot I would feel very bothered. So I never went to the set, I only gave my opinions before and after the shoot."

Although Tsui Hark had concerns, Charlie found his directness very acceptable. "I'm OK! I know he does that for the movie, he would only speak up for your own good. I would rather he says something when something happens, which is better than saying he has regrets afterward!"

Their relationship improved further due to the collaboration as they understood each other even more. Charlie joked that from when they first worked together on THE LOVERS, Tsui Hark already felt like a father to him. "Maybe he gives people the impression that he is very serious, but actually he is a very humorous person. Back then when we worked together I always wanted to get closer to him. He has a fatherly feeling that is still unshakable now."

The Peter Chan Ho Sun produced and directed film AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA after a few weeks in Mainland released is already near 400 million at the box office. Two nights ago he held a special screening for friends in Hong Kong and invited five Best Actors and a Best Actress Leon Lai Ming, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Anita Yuen Wing Yi, as well as Chingmy Yau Suk Ching, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Fala Chen, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To), Choi Yat Chi, Media Asia boss Peter Lam Kin Ngok and former Golden Harvest boss Raymond Chow Man Wai and his wife.

During a group photo, Yue Man Lok wisely gave up the center spot to boss Lam Kin Nogk, but Lam Kin Ngok was inevitably standing next to Len Len who was linked to him in rumors in the past. Before Len Len dated Julian Cheung Chi Lam she was rumored to have had a chubby boyfriend. However their rumor was such a long time ago, even when they ran into each other they were not embarrassed. They even nodded in greeting; coincidentally Cheung Chi Lam did not join the group photo but showed up later. The divorced Lai Ming whose former wife Gaile Lok was rumored to wed a water skiing instructor still came in support. Although he was late and missed the group photo, before going in he said, "Peter and I are good friends, so I have to come and support him. I am still waiting for a chance to work with Peter again."

Lai Ming was not the only one who wanted to work with Peter. Fellow Four Great Heavenly King Kwok Fu Sing due to numerous offers revealed that he turned down Peter's scripts twice. However he looked forward to working with him on the third time. Sing Sing said, "Peter approached me twice to work together, I was very happy but we just passed each other by. Next year I still have time, I am waiting for him to approach me." Sing Sing was very happy about his horse's victory and even boasted, "It's all thanks to my eye for horses. I am very happy to get a victory for the horse fans." Reportedly Christine Kuo was good luck for him. Sing Sing said, "This is just some nonsense news, made up story, just for laughs!" As for rumors that he wanted to buy Christine Kuo a home, Sing Sing only said, "One word: Stupid!" Then he went inside.

Cheung Ka Fai actually just dined with Chi Wai, Len Len and Yau Suk Ching. He said that lately every 2 or 3 months he would meet with this group of friends in the business, he had a lot of joy, sense of security and played freely. He joked that he was very happy to run into his similar looking "brother" Cheung Hok Yau. For UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) Ka Fai won praises for his shape that he trained into. He joked that the magazine cover was like a photo book release, but his wife Esther Kwan Wing Ho's response was lukewarm. Ka Fai joked, "Old Lady didn't react much. One day I was asleep, she slapped me awake and said that my muscles were exploding. Actually no matter how I am, she always says she loves me very much." Ka Fai joked that in the past he was not anxious about going out, after the training he wanted to patrol the beach and attract women's attention. However he did not want men to apply lotion for him, as he only liked women. Recently a director suggested for him to play a fat guy, but he was busy with movies and thought that reaching the required weight would be very tough.

ATV two days ago held its 56th anniversary event and arranged for artists to construct the 56th anniversary logo out of cardboard. Artist congratulatory videos were also shown. Originally the event was full of joy, but some online thought that the logo design resembled the Chinese character for "death"! Yesterday this birthday congratulatory video went viral online, some asked if it was a big joke.

Chrissie Chau Sau Na recently was linked in rumors with married producer Wong Wing Fung while working on the film KICK ASS GIRLS (BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA). Earlier they were caught shopping in a supermarket to celebrate Wong Wing Fung's birthday. Two nights ago she posted 9 photos with Wong Wing Fung. She wrote, "Happy Birthday Producer Wong Wing Fung, I wish all your wishes come true, every movie will have good word of mouth and be big box office hits, for you to continue to chase your dreams, and good health, peace and joy!"

Gordon Liu has already left the hospital and is in recovery

The 57 year old famous martial art star Gordon Liu (Lau Ka Fai) suffered a stroke in August 2011 and hemiplegia on the left side of his body. Since then a financial dispute erupted between Lau and his family and assistant. Originally named Sin Kam Hei, Lau Ka Fai earlier filed suit with the High Court against former assistant Eva Fung for over HK$2 million in saving.

The suit stated that Lau Ka Fai has requested for the court to confirm that defendant Eva Fung had Lau's two accounts only in her trust, including a 1.39 million yuan RMB Bank of China Hong Kong account and a US$ 580,000 HSBC account. The plaintiff also requested the defendant to turn over all related account saving and the account's records like past transactions. The suit also stated that if the court declined to order the defendant to directly turn over the saving to Lau Ka Fai, it may order the defendant to turn over the related saving to the court so the court may issue living expense to him in the future for Lau's residence, medical and other needs.

Yesterday reporters contacted Lau Ka Fai's guardian Fan Yik Man, who stated that originally she did not want the matter to end up in court since everyone knew each other and lawyers cost money. She only wanted to regain Brother Ka Fai's finances for his future medical expenses. In as early as January she already asked Eva for the two savings accounts but to no avail. She could only follow the legal process.

Fan Yik Man said that Brother Ka Fai already knew about the matter being in the court system. Now his health condition has progressed decently, as he has already been transferred to a nursing home with 24 hour care. Early this year he suffered a fall and had an operation and earlier he went for a follow up visit. The doctor praised him for gaining 2 to 3 kilograms. His appetite has been great and he loved chocolate. He also wanted to go out. If he could be more stable in his wheelchair, she has promised to take him outside.

Andy Lau Tak Wa's 2008 film promotional poster appeared on a certain Jiangsu lumber company's product package and online. Lau Tak Wa felt that his name and image rights were violated and filed suit against the company. The cast yesterday was heard in the Wujing district of Changzhou. Lau Tak Wa's represented stated that Lau Tak Wa's image had enormous commercial value. The lumber company without authorization used his image to promote its wooden file, wallpaper and other products. They requested for the court to issue an order to stop the defendant from copyright infringement behavior and to recall the product involved from national retailers, to stop using Lau Tak Wa's image, to issue a public apology and to compensate 500,000 yuan RMB.

The defendant stated that it did not violate Lau Tak Wa's image and signature rights with malice, as it stated a contract to authorize their uses with a Beijing advertising company. The judge stated whether the contract granted permission or not, the defendant has exceeded its limits of its rights to use Lau Tak Wa's image and committed copyright violation. After the court investigation ended, both parties stated that they were willing to accept mediation.
