This year's New York Asian Film Festival will take place between the 28th and July 14th. The event yesterday announced on social media that this year's Lifetime Achievement Award will go to famous Hong Kong director Yuen Woo Ping. The award ceremony will take place on July 1st at the Lincoln Center. Yuen Woo Ping started in the business in the 60s. His work successfully merged kung fu elements with comedy and became kung fu film landmarks. Yuen Woo Ping is best known in the West as an action director in movies like THE MATRIX, KILL BILL and CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON. The NYAFF will screen three Yuen Woo Ping directed films THE THOUSAND FACES OF DUNJIA, IRON MONKEY and MASTER Z: THE IP MAN LEGACY to celebrate. Aside from Yuen Woo Ping, Jackie Chan, Ringo Lam Lan Tung, Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Tsui Hark and others have received the honor previously.
