The 53rd Annual Asia Pacific Film Festival took place last night in Kaohsiung. Nick Cheung Ka Fai again with BEAST STALKER (JING YUN) won Best Actor, his six prizes with the film. Cheung Ka Fai has become the invincible Best Actor of 2009. Last night YANG YANG's Sandrine Pinna (Cheung Yung Yung) won Best Actress.
Ka Fai received the Asia Pacific Best Actor from Adam Cheng Siu Chau and was so excited that he was dancing on stage. Ka Fai expressed the award was already the perfect ending.
During the ceremony an earthquake took place. Fresh out of the oven Best Actress Cheung Yung Yung felt the tremble backstage. She said that she was not afraid because her eyes were busy following SJ-M in front of her. With the earthquake experience, she joked that the award could not be place anywhere too high.
John Woo (Ng Yu Sum) received the Outstanding Achievement Award for his contribution to the film industry. The Soi Cheang Bo Shui directed ACCIDENT (YI OI) received Best Screenplay. The Golden Horse Best Director Leon Dai Lap Yun again with NO PUEDO VIVIR SIN TI won Best Director.
The award show last night took place in the suburban I-Shou University. Kaohsiung's temperature was as low as 12 degrees Celsius, but female stars dressed up despite the chill for the red carpet.
The guest presenters and performers included two child stars from SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, Shinji Takeda, South Korean star Jung Ryeo-Won, Hong Kong artists Ray Lui Leung Wai and Cheng Siu Chau. Popular Korean group Super Junior-M were present but did not make the red carpet due to visa issue. When they presented Best Film Score fans went crazy.
On the red carpet, the host also had a little trouble. When Ng Yu Sum appeared with his wife Ngau Chun Lung, the host introduced her as Chu Chun Lung. Later the host admitted his mistake due to a teleprompter disruption, his impression was either Ngau or Chu and he just bet on one.
