The Chow Yun Fat and Zhou Xun starred epic CONFUCIUS will be released globally on the 22nd. The theme song performer has been kept under wrap until yesterday when it officially announced that Faye Wong performed theme song, YU LAN CAO, will be released tomorrow (the 6th) globally and the next day (7th) on CONFUCIUS's official launch.

As early as at the production start last April, the team has already been in contact with Faye Wong. Both sides studied in dept with the theme song's musical style, music and lyric teams. After months of repeated adjustments, its recording was finished completely on December 31. Faye Wong was selected because only her aloof voice would be able to perform the "beauty between humanity and Heaven". As for the theme song title, it came from an ancient poem from the hands of expert lute player Confucius. Famous Tang Dynasty poet Han Yu once created work of the same title in response to Confucius. The film theme song's lyrics was based on Han Yu's famous poem. Although the lyrics only had 64 words, it was very soulful. Not only does it lament the saint's under appreciated talent but it also praises his noble character.

After 5 years in seclusion, Faye Wong returns with YU LAN CAO. With her uniquely varying singing, she tells the story of one person, a noble era and history. Everything was merged into that aloof yet intimate female voice. Reportedly director Hu Min after hearing the son described it as "communicating the beauty between humanity and heaven".
