COLD WAR (HONG JIN) was selected to be the 17th Busan Film Festival opening film and received rave reviews locally. COLD WAR also changed its release day to November 8 for a Hong Kong and Mainland simultaneous release. COLD WAR caught the attention of the media and the industry, the 3,000 premiere tickets were sold out in 95 seconds on September 25 and set a record. At the October 4 premiere, almost 4,000 viewers after the screening applauded for over 10 minutes. Korea's Seoul News, Central Daily, KBS and other important media outlet gave large coverage to COLD WAR, calling the film as perhaps the "signal of 'resurrection' for Hong Kong film that has been silent for a long time". The Hollywood Reporter, Screen and other U.S. media also targeted COLD WAR for special introduction, feeling that "COLD WAR elevated the police story genre to a new height". In addition, film companies around the world could not support COLD WAR more as they fought to purchase its rights.

Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Tony Leung Ka Fai and two directors Longman Leung Lok Man and Sunny Luk Kim Ching's schedules in Busan were packed several days ago, as they tirelessly accepted various media interviews. COLD WAR originally was scheduled for the early October National Day release, but as it became the Busan Film Festival opening film its release was postponed. COLD WAR stars Kwok Fu Sing, Leung Ka Fai and others were very supportive of the schedule change decision and will fully coordinate with the promotion. Leung Ka Fai said that a good movie requires ample promotion to achieve a good performance; Kwok Fu Sing also said, "We can't wait to recommend COLD WAR to even more viewers, visit more places and meet with audiences at even more cinemas."
