The Anita Mui 10 Memorial Concert ended two nights ago. Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and Eric Tsang Chi Wai organized a banquet for the workers. Denise Ho Wan Si, William So Wing Hong, Michael Miu Kiu Wai and Chik Mei Chun, Edmond Leung Hong Man, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and others attended. Around midnight they left. Ho wan Si said that the banquet was like a celebration, no one deliberately talked about Sister Mui. When Sister Mui was alive, everyone always got together. She cherished tonight very much. As for Tsang Chi Wai crying emotionally at the concert, Ah Si said that Chi Wa was an emotional person.

Hok Yau left around 1AM and said that he remembered Ah Mui. He revealed that his wife May Lo (Law Mei Mei) did not attend, as she stayed home to watch the live concert broadcast. Was Chi Wai drunk? Hok Yau smiled and said, "He is already a little dizzy, in awhile you will see him being carried out as usual." Hok Yau greeted his fans who were waiting outside then left.

[2014.01.01] 72 YEAR OLD LO HOI PANG BECOMES ADDICTED TO FIGUREROBICS

courtesy of mingpao.com

The 72 year old Lo Hoi Pang is a impersonation and comedy master. He in the Sandra Ng Kwan Yu's Lunar New Year film GOLDEN CHICKEN SSS (GUM GAI SSS) challenged an impersonation of the 47 year old Korean fitness queen Jung Da-Yeon as he led Ivana Wong Yuen Chi, Michelle Wai Si Nga and others in the popular Figurerobics. Brother Pang became addicted as soon as he tried it and showed off his dance skills for half a day.

Brother Pang learned from the video and danced the Jung Da-Yeon Figurerobics convincingly. All the girls around him was attracted to his dancing and presence. Producer Ng Kwan Yu praised Brother Pang for still being so "hard" at age 72, because Figurerobics required a lot of energy. However he still completed the entire scene without any issue. He indeed was the film industry evergreen. Kwan Yu said, "If I have the chance I would ask Brother Pang to dance with Jung Da-Yeon once, it definitely will be very entertaining. Just from his shape, Brother Pang's legs may be slimmer than Sister Yeon!" Wong Yuen Chi also danced convincingly, coordinating with his buckteeth costume she and Brother Pang launched comedy bombs.

Stage superstar of a generation Anita Mui Yim Fong has passed away for 10 years. Yesterday show business organized a memorial concert to remember this late friend with music. Maggie Cheung Man Yuk, Jackie Chan, Eric Tsang Chi Wai and others shared their memories of Ah Mui. Three Great Heavenly King Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Andy Lau Tak Wa and Aaron Kwok Fu Sing took turn performing. Wa Jai was choked up, "Thank you everyone for keeping Ah Mui in your hearts for 10 years." All the performers held back tears as they remembered their late friend. At the end of the concert tears broke out and on and off the stage.

The Cheung Hok Yau and Tsang Chi Wai organized ANITA MUI 10 MEMORIAL CONCERT yesterday took place at the Convention center. All 8,000 seats were jam packed. The stage had a band and a long flight of stairs that reminded people of Ah Mui's final concert stage design. Viewers were dressed in black or white out of respect for Ah Mui as asked. Each received a fan club produced rose shaped light.

Ah Mui's friends and disciples performed and shared their memories at the memorial concert. Chi Wai appeared first and recounted Ah Mui's life, calling her the "Daughter of Hong Kong", as an artist, elder fighter for life and in other aspects she became the role model for future generations. The concert was a surprise party. He even raised his head and asked Haven, "Ah Mui, are you ready?" Then, Hok Yau, Kwok Fu Sing, Andy Hui Chi On, A-Mei Chang, Eason Chan Yik Shun, Sandy Lam Yik Lin and others performed. Tony Leung Chiu Wai's wife Carina Lau Ka Ling first recited Ah Mui's lyrics, then Wai Jai performed IN THE HAZY NIGHT RAIN. Hui Chi On and Sammi Cheng Sau Man performed on the same stage for the first time after their announced engagement, but during the group performance they deliberately stayed apart to avoid awkwardness.

George Lam Chi Cheung held back tears. He wore the jacket that he wore 10 years when he performed WHO IS THE MOST BELOVED with Ah Mui for the last time. "After wearing this jacket that night, I never wore it again. I miss her very much, and I hope everyone would cherish those around them." Cheung Man Yuk praised Ah Mui was a mix of man and woman, sometimes she would drink on her behalf out of loyalty and sometimes she would be so gentle and immature that they would be in a pillow fight. She said, "Ah Mui, I will always respect and appreciate you."

Cherie Chung Chor Hung revealed Ah Mui's fragile side. "Ah Mui described the process of being ill as a type of pain that could not be withstood, but she would never show it in front of others. It made the people's hearts ache." Ah Mui's friend Lau Tak Wa held back tears as he performed YEARS FLOW LIKE WATER and sounded a little shaken. He said, "Thank you everyone for keeping Ah Mui in your hearts for ten years, one song is her favorite song. She felt that this song was written for her, a portrait of her life. Let's sing this song together for Ah Mui." Video of Ah Mui's SONG OF SUNSET was played, performers appeared on the stage to sing together. Even Tony Leung Ka Fai whose flight was delayed was able to make it. Lau Tak Wa, Jackie Chan, Tsang Chi Wai and others sang as they shed tears, fans also were overcome with tears.

Before the concert, Mother Mui appeared on the red carpet. Event representative Chi Wai came to welcome her. They shook hands and exchanged greetings with an embrace. Mother Mui gave a thank you letter to Chi Wai then they entered the venue together. Chi Wai said, "Ah Ming (Mui Yim Fong's brother Mui Kai Ming) wrote it for me and Hok Yau. I haven't read it yet. I asked Ma Mui to enjoy the show. She thanked us for doing so much for Ah Mui." Sister Mui's former boyfriend Lam Kwok Bun, mentor Rinpoche, To Jing Jing whose education Sister Mui paid for, former manager Marianne all attended.

Hok Yau said that they would not organize a concert every year, and Chi Wai said that he felt the performance recalled everyone to seriously think of Ah Mui again and gave her the respect that she deserved. Only Ah Mui's power was able to have so many friends to remember her ten years later. Everyone's love for her remained unchanged. Hok Yau revealed that Chi Wai during rehearsal already could not stop crying. Jackie Chan, Lau Tak Wa and others all cried. Ma Mui due to her age left early. Sh thanked the media and everyone for supporting Ah Mui.

Lau Tak Wa was teary eyed during his performance. He said that in comparison to the afternoon rehearsal he was already a little calmer. As for Josie Ho Chiu Yi's suggestion for an Ah Mui memorial statue, Wa Jai felt it was a good idea. Whether it would be successful or not, Ah Mui's position in everyone's hearts would not change.

Denise Ho Wan Si yesterday remembered her mentor Mui Yim Fong online. "I deeply believe, your time still hasn't been silenced ten years ago today but has been transformed into an even stronger life force that lives in the hearts of everyone who misses you. Life consists of countless sorrow, joy, separations and unions. About your passing, we have turned sorrow into remembrance that we use to cultivate an even stronger force. We work hard to continue to persist what you once believed and looked forward to; just leave the journey that you did not complete for us to finish. Wish you well, miss you."

Ho Wan Si yesterday said at the memorial concert, "I am very envious that they were able to tour with Sister Mui. After I became Sister Mui's disciple, she has already gradually reduced that. Tonight everyone is very excited, I am very appreciative to Hok Yau and Chi Wai for organizing this concert."

Cherie Chung Chor Hung said, "When I talked with Ah Mui about Leslie (Cheung Kwok Wing), her condition and life, Leslie's passing had a tremendous impact on her. They were as close as siblings, they loved and cared for each others. They also fought and argued like an old couple, which they got over very quickly as well. More than once I have heard from Leslie's mouth that he worried about Ah Mui, as he was afraid that she would be swindled at work and abused in love......when she was ill she claimed that the pain more than she could take, but Hok Yau said that he never heard the word pain from her mouth. You can imagine how strong of a woman she was. Before her passing she was the most concerned with her family, fans and friends. I sincerely wish everyone would live well, Daughter of Hong Kong with love and honor, thank you!"

Jackie Chan said, "When I was little at the Lai chi Kok Amusement Park I already knew her. During the Capital Artists era, she secretly heard me singing and joked that my singing was horrible. Without my permission she taught me rhythm, singing on key and techniques, those days were really very memorable. Later we once argued over Hong Kong film industry matters until we were all red, finally we established the Performing Artist Guild. So I often would argue with Tsang Chi Wai to remember my days with her."

Anita Yuen Wing Yi said, "When I was in school she was my idol, so when the teacher asked me to come up with an English name I immediately thought of the name Anita. Then in 1996 I was able to work with her on WHO'S THE WOMAN WHO'S THE WOMAN (GUM JI YUK YIP 2), which was absolutely a honor. She was not arrogant at all, she even was very concerned about the elders around her. I cry easily, it's very tough for me to hold it back. Sister Mui is the big sister of the film and music scenes. No one can replace her."

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa said, "I am very happy to see so many Capital Artists friends. This is a connection of love. Everyone is here to express their feeling for Sister Mui. During my new comer era I was lucky to have Sister Mui's help."

William So Wing Hong said, "Tonight's performance reminded me of the '1:99' concert, around 10 years ago the line up was the same as today's. In the same way only Sister Mui's relationships would have such a power to unite, truly no one can succeed her."

Alex To Tak Wa said, "Earlier I relived her videos on YouTube, I got very emotional and was reminded of a lot of memories. I used to perform all over with Sister Mui like a family, I thank her to be able to be together with everyone again. Unfortunately it was just for a few hours including rehearsals. We would properly enjoy every minute and every second."

Edmond Leung Hong Man said, "During the performance I didn't think too much, but during the rehearsal I saw so many friends who deliberately came. It's been a long while that everyone gathered together like this, I really enjoyed the performance just now."

The Grasshoppers said, "When we sang we were reminded a lot of the past, we felt like Sister Mui was singing with us. We were very emotional and touched inside."

Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the Big Sister of Music Anita Mui Yim Fong's passing. Madame Tussauds Hong Kong put a classic pink costume for Ah Mui's 1999 concert and invited Ah Mui's super fan Kenix Kwok Ho Ying and disciple Samuel Pang King Chi to conduct the unveiling ceremony. Over 100 Mui fans attended in support. Kwok Ho Ying's sister and 4 year old daughter attended as well.

Speaking of her memories of Ah Mui, Kwok Ho Ying remembered that when she competed in the 1993 Miss Hong Kong pageant, she received the "Most Popular with the Media Award" from one of the judges Ah Mui. To be able to see her idol in close distance was even more exciting than winning an award. Soon after she got into the business, Ah Mui was able to call her by name at events. She was very willing to help new comers. Kwok Ho Ying said, "Thank you Ah Mui for giving us a lifetime of good performances and meaning to our growth process. I hope she is peacefully and comfortably enjoying her fortune from another angle."

Kwok Ho Ying said that when she saw the statue she was very touched, she had many memories of Ah Mui in her life. Aside from being a fan club member herself, she also affected her family and her 4 year old daughter to like Ah Mui. She said, "I would always remember something that she said. She once said that I was in her top three Miss Hong Kongs. I was very happy to have her recognition, but during the pageant I didn't try to make friends with her. I was shy and embarrassed, but later she learned that I was her fan." She praised Ah Mui for loving her fans, thus she also learned to treat her fans the same way. She regretted that she was not able to work with Ah Mui.

Pang King Chi remembered when he worked with Ah Mui for the first time on her concert in 1999 and praised Ah Mui for taking care of her junior and never getting mad. She would convince them in an alternative way, privately she had fun like a big kid and made people feel comfortable. He said, "I admire Sister Mui's work ethics very much. I will work hard to achieve her expectations of me, I will always remember her."

Working in Beijing for the long haul, Pang King Chi said that he missed Ah Mui very much and also felt that the statue was very convincing. He also did something for Ah Mui. He said, "Ah Mui passed away on my birthday, so starting in 2003 I no longer celebrate it. My birthday isn't special, instead I would think of the memory from the hospital in 2003. I believe she would be very happy now."

Many fans went to present incense sticks to their idol in Kowloon Tong's Shang Sin Chun Tong. The number of fans and offerings were more than usual. Aside from the paper mansion outside with the plaque "Anita Mui Mansion", many paper handbags, sneakers and jewelry filled two tables. In front of Ah Mui's tablet were her favorites, milk tea, egg sandwich and dim sums as well as fresh flowers and cards from fans. Ah Mui's former manager Marianne and friend Ms. So came to pay their respect. After presenting incense sticks they quietly sat to the side and folded offerings with almost 20 fans.

Ms. So said, "We first pay our respect, then we will go to the exhibit and the memorial concert. We didn't participate in the concert too much, but we attended meetings to discuss it. A dozen or so of us fans made over 7,000 flowers for viewers. Everyone spent over ten hours to make them. Each has a butterfly knot and a card with Mui Yim Fong's image, representing a little something from us."

She admitted that being the 10th anniversary this year, large scale memorial events were especially numerous and inevitably brought up their reluctance to part. She said, "When it is quiet I would think of her, especially the last few nights. Everyone would relive her final concert in 2003. I really cried until our eyes were swollen when I missed her. Crying can be considered a type of release."
