Simon Yam Tat Wa, directors Joe Cheung Tung Cho and Ng See Yuen yesterday attended the Baptist University film academy's 5th anniversary banquet. Yam Tat Wa said that he was an experienced filmmaker but still a new comer to the position of director. He also said that he would cast more new comers in his films.
As for the news of Oxide Pang Shun, Liddy Li Yuet Tung and her father's shooting news, Yam Tat Wa pointed out that the case was shocking but not suitable for film. He said, "If made, the film would add to the pain of those involved. Film is only suitable for creating." He also said that he was very familiar with Angelica Lee Sinjie. He hoped that the couple would be able to get over this and he blessed them from his heart. He would not talk about them from a third person standpoint, he hoped to give them space to cool down. Yam Tat Wa said that later he might go to study film in England.
Cheung Tung Cho said that this shooting headline development was truly unexpected. He said, "Even a screen writer couldn't write such a complicated story and character relationship." He also said that he disagreed with this news being made into film. Ng See Yuen pointed out that this news could not even be written into a script. "I feel this society is very abnormal. Out of the blue something like this happens. I feel we live in an unsafe environment." Ng See Yuen said that he did not know Pang Shun. "A director should become more well known for his work, not for his personal relationship."
