The Hong Kong government at the end of last month banned group gatherings of more than four people in public places. Among them workplace gatherings were exempted. Yesterday a rumor went viral online as Hong Kong film workers supposedly received notification from the Film Services Office, for future location shoot applications no more than four people could be present. Private location productions would be not be restricted. However Hong Kong Federation of Filmmakers president Tin Kai Man and Gordon Lam Ka Tung, who has been working on the film HAND-ROLLED CIGARETTE (SAU GUEN YIN), both said that they have not heard anything about that.
Speaking of the poor film market recently, Tin Kai Man stated that the Federation has already discussed ways to survive with the government. They included applying for HK$ 10 million for training courses to elevate industry personnel skills. They even hoped that the film industry would benefit from the second wave of the fund to fight the pandemic.
