The novel coronavirus pandemic has almost put the Hong Kong film industry into a complete halt. Many industry insiders' livelihood were in jeopardy. The Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild and the Federation of Hong Kong Film workers earlier called for donations and received contributions from 10 Hong Kong film companies and others for basic level film worker relief. Each applicant would receive a a maximum of HK$ 9,000.
The PAG earlier started distributing the relief in the form of checks. Wong Ha Wai on social media posted a photo with friend Ngai Chau Wa and Tsui Bo Fung and their checks. She wrote, "People always say 'artists are heartless'! This sentence is all wrong! Yesterday I went to the Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild with a group of sisters and picked up the relief fund, HK$ 9000 for each person. The thought is beyond any description with words, I can only sense in deep from within the warmth from this glass of warm water. Koo Tin Lok, we all love you to death!" She also thanked the film companies and sponsors.
