Currently participating in the Cannes Film Festival, the film TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) started up a Hong Kong film fever as it became the movie that has caught the attention of the Chinese communities around the world. As of 11 a.m. yesterday, its box office in Hong Kong and Macao recorded HK$ 63,216,046 to land the film in fifth place among the total box office of Chinese films in Hong Kong film history. When the film team attended the Cannes Film Festival's "Hong Kong Night" event, Eddie Pang Yu-yan made a special appearance to show his support, congratulated the team and took photos with the crowd.
The 77th Cannes Film Festival was held from May 14 to 25. The Hong Kong Film Development Council, Create Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council jointly set up the Hong Kong Pavilion, organized 6 networking activities, 5 industry networking activities and 9 film market screenings, and showcased a number of outstanding Hong Kong films to filmmakers from all over the world. Raymond Lam Fung, Terrance Lau Chun Him, Tony Wu Tsz Tung and German Cheung Man Kit went live online from the Hong Kong Pavilion. The TWILIGHT OF THE WARRORS: WALLED IN team was very supportive of Hong Kong's tourism development and hoped to attract more visitors to Hong Kong.
The "Hong Kong Night" was attended by a large line-up of filmmakers, including TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN director Soi Cheang Pou Soi, actors Louis Koo Tin Lok, Lam Fung, Lau Chun Him, Wu Tsz Tung and Cheung Man Kit, and hundreds of film professionals from Hong Kong and overseas. Later they even attended TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN Cannes premiere, walking the Cannes red carpet together at the Midnight Screening section. In addition, the TWILIGHT team was popular with the Chinese and foreign groups in Cannes. After completing their trip Lam Fung, Lau Chun Him, Wu Tsz Tung and Cheung Man Kit would return to Hong Kong to continue to promote the film. Tonight they would attend the "520 special audience appreciation screening" in Tsim Sha Tsui.
