With more than 1.45 million tickets sold in Hong Kong, TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) since its official release on May 1 has become Hong Kong's single-day box office champion for 41 consecutive days. Yesterday (11th) its Hong Kong and Macao total box office officially broke through HK$ 100 million. Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai), Raymond Lam Fung, Terrance Lau Chun Him, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, German Cheung Man Kit, Philip Ng Won Lung, Kenny Wong Tak Bun, and others went to the KITEC for their film TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN audience appreciation event two nights ago (10th). When they appeared the entire audience cheered. Goo Jai instantly presented the over HK$ 100 million box office "graduation diploma" to the "4 Sons of the Walled City". Goo Jai's classic dance song POPULAR THIS WEEK has become a hit again because of the Japanese girl group Avantgardey's performance to it. However he admitted that he no longer had the singing bug and declined to dance the "Worship Dance" again.
The movie exceeded HK$ 100 million, which Goo Jai was also very happy about. As for whether he was confident of surpassing A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG) at the top of the cumulative box office? He said, "I would like to thank the audience for their support, and I hope to the box office would reach new heights. If it becomes number one in the history of the Chinese language film cumulative box office, I will take everyone to dinner to celebrate." As for when will the prequel DRAGON THRONE (LUNG TAU) start production, Goo Jai revealed that the script was still being written. In addition set constructions would take time so he could not rush them.
The Japanese girl group Avantgardey came to Hong Kong again a few days ago to attend the event, and performed Goo Jai's classic dance song POPULAR THIS WEEK. The members also said that they hoped to come to Hong Kong in July to perform. They would like to invite Goo Jai to put on their wig and dance to POPULAR THIS WEEK together. Goo Jai politely declined when he heard, saying, "That's enough. Let them dance. I don't want to dance." He said that earlier friends have sent him the clip from that day, at first he thought that his friends wanted to trick him. "I have never thought that a song would make a comeback, it's unexpected. (If you are invited to the stage, will you dance together?) They danced very well. I would see the show if I would be invited, but getting on stage might not be so good. (Would you sing again?) Stop messing around, I don't even sing when I go to karaoke. I used to have a little singing bug, now it's gone."
Two days ago at another audience appreciation event, a fan asked him to sing his song BOYFRIEND before asking a question. Goo Jai joked, "Don't make trouble here!" A viewer asked Goo Jai if he knew the reason why so many people call him Daddy now? Goo Jai responded, "Today is the first time I have heard the name Daddy. Just now at the audience appreciation event when people yelled Daddy, I didn't know they were calling me." At the same time, the audience even wished him a Happy Father's Day.
The movie has become a critical and commercial success. Ng Won Lung and the 4 Sons were just as happy. Ng Won Lung joked, "Yours truly makes kung fu movies and is a kung fu guy, but I told Lam Fung now I feel like I made a movie like the idol series METEOR GARDEN. I thank the audience for their love. It's a very special experience and I enjoy the feeling right now."
Lam Fung said, "The audience is enthusiastic about every character in the entire movie. I hope that the hard work that every actor of ours contributed would be able to keep the momentum going and give more surprises to the audience in the next installment." Wu Tsz Tung said, "More viewers looked up information of our past, they don't just you now." Lau Chun Him jokingly asked if they were looking up their past dark history? Wu Tsz Tung said that those were not dark history in the past. When asked if he thinks his former relationship with Hong Kong swimmer Stephanie Au Hoi Shun was dark history? He said, "It wasn't dark history, it was a fragment of my life." He attended the event while sick, saying that he had gastroenteritis. The doctor told him not to eat or drink all day. Originally after the audience appreciation event the quartet was supposed to have dinner together, now they could only reschedule. Did he get sick from getting wet at the water concert? He said that he did not know, at the time he already changed right away. He joked that his manager has prohibited him from taking off his clothes so he would not be sexy. Lau Chun Him said that he never thought that he would make a fight scene, was very happy to be able to partner with a group of good brothers, hoped that they would be able to continue and Hong Kong films could be recognized internationally again. When Asked if he had any dark history? He joked, "No dark history, at this 'moment' (sounds like dark), we have already become history."
Cheung Man Kit said that when he went to Malaysia earlier, he found that the local audience also loved the movie very much. He has already informed others of the news, and would like the chance to go there for audience appreciation events. Later he and Wu Tsz Tung would promote in Malaysia again. Lam Fung also hoped to meet the audience there together, but recently everyone has been busy with work and would need to coordinate their schedules.
Becoming a male star with more than HK$ 100 million box office, Ng Won Lung said that the feat was due to every actor. He thanked the audience for their support, and was very happy that he had a part in this breakthrough movie in Hong Kong history. When asked if there was a chance to a spin off move with his character, he said, "I have to wait for the film company's arrangement, I am already very happy to participate in this movie. I am already happy to be Wong Gau once, let's see if they would ask me to play another role in the next step." After the audience appreciation events, nearly 100 people lined up outside the venue to take photos with Ng Won Lung. Fans in wheelchairs and fans who wore their graduation gowns were among them. He also responded to female fans' requests for friendly hugs.
