Nicholas Tse Ting Fung served as the action director and co-star with Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Karena Lam Ka Yun, Cya Liu Seya and Michelle Wai Sze Nga in the Herman Yau Lai To directed Emperor Motion Picture CUSTOMS FRONTLINE (HOI GUAN JIN SIN), which had many thrilling scenes. During the shoot he kept running back and forth between the set and the cameras, in order to achieve perfection on screen. Ting Fung had a gunfight scenes with heavily armed criminals. On the day of the shoot, Ting Fung on wires jumped and climbed atop a shipping container that tilted at a 45-degree incline in mid air and fell backward. Wai Sze Wai was so tense from witnessing the stunt, she said "Scared me to death!". After one take Ting Fung said, "Not crisp enough, let's do it again now!"
On that day Ting Fung was on wires as he climbed atop the container. Wai Sze Nga before taking her position observed Ting Fung during the filming of this action scene. She already expressed concern during the rehearsal, but Nicholas said with a smile: "This scene is already very simple, I have to be careful in the second half; it will be harder! Just now a stunt person suffered a dislocation and was taken to the hospital for treatment." Wai Sze Nga said on the set that she has always been afraid of participating in action films, but she has rather appreciated the major scenes like explosions and gunfights. In addition she liked to be hoisted on the wires. When Ting Fung was filming, Wai Sze Nga was so nervous that she often screamed, "Ting Fung, be careful!" She frowned and said, "I'm so nervous, I am scared to death! It's really dangerous!"
Ting Fung on top of the container opened fired and accidentally scratched his finger. He immediately bandaged the wound to keep it from getting infect3ed. This gunfight scene had another difficult stunt. When the container tilted more than 45 degrees high in the air, he fell out of the shipping container. The degree of difficult and danger were just as high. He only shot it three times before Director Yau Lai To accepted the take. Ting Fung said to the director, "I have already given my greatest effort to achieve the quickest agility." Later Ting Fung continued the shoot and fell from the container to the windshield of the four-wheel drive vehicle before sliding down, grabbing the edge of the roof with his hands. When he fell out of the container, the recoil of the wires caused him to crash into the container. Ting Fung instantly elbowed against it and joked, "These don't count as crashes!" He was already used to it a long time go. After the shoot, Ting Fung said, "It wasn't difficult. I thought it should be OK, because the audience has very rarely seen such stunts." In the end he accidentally bruised his fingers, but he was still calm as he recalled the most dangerous scene in his film career. "THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN) had a scene in the Malaysian prison; I jumped out and fell into the trunk of the car, it was really difficult! I don't know it was very high, about five or six floors high; but the accuracy of the position of the jump was so important because I had to jump through sheet metal. The space was only as wide as I was. If I stuck out my hand, I would cut my hand; or if I jumped a little too earlier or too late, I would hit my neck and feet. When I jumped from the height of five or six floors to the trunk of a truck, if missed by half a foot in the front, behind, right or left I would lose arms and legs. Due to the narrow space, it was easy to hit my hands and feet; so I had to nail the jump!"
