The 68th Cannes Film Festival will open today. One of the Chinese films that will be in competition will be the famous Taiwan director Hou Hsiao-Hsien directed, Shu Qi and Chang Chen starred wuxia film THE ASSASSIN, which will debut next week. Shu Qi last Thursday will attend the film's Cannes press conference and global premiere. The film earlier sold its North American distribution rights to Well Go. Shu Qi will also promote her other new film THE GHOULS with Chen Kun and Angelababy at the Cannes film sales market.

The Tony Jaa, Wu Jing, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Louis Koo Tin Lok starred Hong Kong film SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCE (SAT POR LONG 2)'s international poster will also be unveiled in Cannes. The poster showed a 200 people gang fight. That scene was shot with one straight take. The film reportedly has already been sold to 15 countries. In addition, the Nick Cheung Ka Fai directed and starred new film KEEPER OF DARKNESS (TOR DEI KUI MOR YUN) will also be on sale in Cannes. Due to the subject, although the film will not be released in the Mainland it still attracted attention from European and American markets.
