The film IP MAN 3 added heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson to the production. Earlier the boxer and Donnie Yen Chi Tan engaged in combat. Chi Tan's elbow accidentally hit his left forefinger, which Tyson later confirmed to be fractured.

Earlier when the film company arranged for a set visit, Tyson wore a white shirt that had a shoe print on it. His left index finger was also bandaged. Speaking of his injuries, Tyson played for sympathy. "At first you only worry whether Yen Chi Tan will be hurt, no one ever considered my safety. Now I am injured and still no one would console me." Tyson was very professional and did not become more cautious in his fight scenes due to the injury. He even insisted on personally performing all of the scenes and received praises from the crew.

Chi Tan pointed out that this time was an accident. In the story they exchanged blows as he met Tyson's punches with Wing Chun. At the time in order to accommodate the camera, he accidentally elbowed Tyson's finger. Chi Tan said, "Tyson was very professional. During the shoot I knew I bummed into him but I didn't think it was that serious. We even continued to shoot. After the shoot he went to the hospital for an examination and realized it was fractured. I was truly very sorry!" He and the former champion have worked together for over ten days and he felt that Tyson was very humble and smart. "Very professional, very nice, the collaboration has been very pleasant." Chi Tan and Tyson worked together for the first time, but they got along famously. During their on set breaks they often exchanged their fighting experience. Chi Tan even taught Tyson on the spot how to coordinate with the camera when he punched.

Patrick Tam Yiu Man in the film played Tyson's employee and they had many dramatic scenes together. Speaking of their collaboration, Tam Yiu Man excitedly said, "Tyson is a legend as well as my idol. I am very happy to be able to work with him. He even invited me to take a photo with him." Aside from Tam Yiu Man, director Wilson Yip Wai Shun, action director Yuen Woo Ping and others also took photos with Tyson.
