In recent years the film industry has been full of difficulties. Many cinemas closed last year, and the situation is dire! Golden Harvest Cinemas announced yesterday the launch of ticket price discounts, hoping to attract audiences. Many artists such as Louis Cheung Kai Chung, DaDa Chan Jing, Philip Ng Wan Lung and Larine Tang Yueping expressed their support, hoping to unite and work together to fight the film winter!

The film market is sluggish. The cinema business is sluggish as well, with nine cinemas announcing their closure or operation suspension last year. Golden Harvest Cinemas announced yesterday that its seven cinemas will launch new ticket prices starting tomorrow, with ordinary 2D movie tickets dropping to HK$ 40 for adults, HK$ 30 for children and students, and HK$ 20 for the elderly; while IMAX movie tickets are as low as HK$ 65 for adults, children and students, and HK$ 50 for the elderly. Golden Harvest said that the admission change will be carried out for a long time until further notice.

After learning that cinemas have launched ticket price discounts to resist the cold winter of the film industry, the Lunar New Year film MY BEST BET (CHEUNG DOH BIT YANG)'s Louis Cheung Kai Chung bluntly said that it is a good way. "Now is the period that is full of challenges, we really need to find ways to maintain our business. Our film industry would have to continue to make more good films, and new subjects that are attractive to audiences. We have to do our best in hopes of giving the audience confidence to go to the cinemas. Hong Kong audiences are actually very supportive of the film industry, and we must continue to work hard."

Participating in another Lunar New Year film QUEEN OF MAHJONG (MA JEUK NUI WONG JUI NAM JAI), DaDa Chan Jing also expressed her support. "Everyone is working together to survive the cold winter of the film industry, every ticket is a show of support. I also hope that the government can follow the example of other Asian regions in supporting the entertainment industry, which actually can also promote tourism development."

Philip Ng Wan Lung also pointed out that the market was sluggish, and all walks of life must find ways to save themselves. He also pointed out that in recent years, filmmakers in the industry have cut their film salaries to support each other, and hoped that the government will continue to allocate funding so that everyone could make a diversity of films. Larine Tang Yue-Ping praised that the ticket discount could attract the audience. "The first time I went to the theater to watch a movie was when I was a student and didn't have much money. I went to the theater whenever I saw a discount. I think that having a good script and a good production are very important. Often times when I fly I would think, could a cinema be set up at the Hong Kong airport so people from all over the world would be able to watch Hong Kong movies?"

In addition, the global box office of the mainland animation NEZHA 2 exceeded 10 billion yuan (about HK$10.7 billion). It knocked THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE to third place in the global animated film box office. Yesterday, it was reported that the film will be released in Hong Kong, and the audience can expect to see NEZHA 2 in Hong Kong.
