After Beijing THE FURIOUS's martial art master all star premiere was held in Hong Kong last night. Director Kenji Tanigaki, producer Frank Hui Hok Man, stars Mo Xie Miao, Joe Taslim, Brian Le, and Yayan Ruhian attended. Guests included Wilson Yip Wai Shun, Chin Kar Lok, Angela Tong Ying Ying, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Max Zhang Jin, Yuen Wah, Yeung Pan Pan, Tsui Siu Ming, Philip Ng Wan Lung, German Cheung Man Kit, Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun and Andrew Pong King Fung
Director Kenji Tanigaki said in an interview that THE FURIOUS was tailor-made for Xie Miao, because when the role was written he already felt that he must find him to perform. He said that he has known Xie Miao for many years, but has not had the opportunity to collaborate. This time he felt that he fought very well, and also had his own skills. He performed action scenes with sincerity, which would definitely move the audience.
Regarding all the action in the film, Xie Miao said that the production of every scene was not easy; especially the scene in which he hit people with a hammer. During rehearsals he did not succeed at all, then during the official shoot by luck it was successfully complete. In another scene Xie Miao's daughter was taken away and he chased after her. The director asked for one take to the end. In order to make a good scene, he practiced running 3 days in advance to achieve the best condition for the performance. The character in the Xie Miao played had to fight against 15 people. He revealed that although he has been making action films since the age of 9, he had to keep training for many years. In addition, in the film he played a mute, and relying on expression and action to perform was also difficult to perform by expression action.
Started as a child star, Xie Miao has worked with Chow Yun Fat on GOD OF GAMBLERS 2 (DOH SUN 2). Recently the two have met again. Did he invite Fat Gor to watch the premiere? He said he would invite Fat Gor to enjoy the film when it would be officially released. When he worked with Fat Gor on the movie he was only 10 years old. After 32 years they reunited. He admitted that he was very touched to see Fat Gor because he had something he wanted to say to him, thank him for taking care of him during filming his care, and give him an important piece of advice in life -- to tell him to go back to school. Did Fat Gor give him a HK$5,000 red envelope to encourage him to return to school? He said, "The amount of money isn't important, it's the thought that counts." Would he like to work with Fat Gor on another movie? He smiled and said, "Of course, I can't ask for anything more." Did he mention that when they met? He said that he had too much he wanted to say at that time, but Fat Gor asked him if his mother came. He thought at the time that he was already 42 years old and did not need his mother to accompany him, perhaps he might still be a child in Fat Gor's eyes.
As for Kenji Tanigaki, he recently worked as an action director for the new film TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: THE FINAL CHAPTER (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI JUNG JEUNG). He smiled and said that he was able to take time from it to promote. Even recently while shooting TWILIGHT on location in Tsim Sha Tsui East, despite knowing that he would be constantly caught on camera he still deliberately wore "THE FURIOUS" T- shirt to promote. Last night he asked the actors and the staff to come to the film, if not they would have to buy their own tickets to watch the movie. Was he worried about the box office? Kenji Tanigaki admitted that the fights were very sharp, and due to the category III rating he hoped that the audience who would be unable to watch the film would watch it again when they would be older.
