Veteran filmmaker Jimmy Heung Wa Sing last month passed away from cancer in Beijing at the age of 63. Last month his funeral and cremation already took place in Beijing. Yesterday Heung Wa Sing's widow Duanmu Yingzi and his family held a memorial at the Universal Funeral Parlor. The producer of many classic films, Heung Wa Sing had a lot of connections in the business. Many industry insiders paid their respect yesterday and remembered this filmmaker.

The memorial began around 8PM. The venue was decorated in white, with Heung wa Sing's photo in the center of the hall. 50 security guards were on hand to maintain order. Yingzi around 2:30PM along with two nephews Heung Chin Bong and Heung Chin Wai spoke with the media. She thanked the media for their concern and love. She said that she was fine. When asked about Heung Wa Sing's wishes before passing, she said, "He told me that Heaven will bless me." As for Heung Wa Sing's wish to remake GOD OF GAMBLERS (DOH SING), she said that it was in preparation; after the memorial she will return to Beijing. She also revealed that she thought about putting Heung Wa Sing's ashes on Lantau Island so more monks will chant for him, but she still was considering it. She pointed out that Heung Wa Sing was an avid Buddhist and would follow his wish to rest his remains in a Buddhism related location. She has not thought about her future life, as she only wanted to take care of her husband's affairs first. She pointed out that her husband cared the most about charity and culture in life, she and his disciples will continue to pass them on. As for Heung Wa Sing's final wish, she said, "He loved movies. He wanted film to be able to continue, especially the glory of the Hong Kong film industry."

The memorial ceremony was Buddhist, everything was simple. The event played videos of Heung Wa Sing and his films. Yingzi, Wong Jing, Heung Wa Sing's sponsored son and disciples all shared their memories. Heung Wa Sing's ashes will probably rest in the Heung family cemetery. Heung Wa Bo and his wife, Charles Heung Wa Keung, Jacky Heung Jor and others yesterday arrived early to the event. Friends Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Ray Lui Leung Wai and his wife, Chan Wai Man, Mona Fong Yat Wa, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Ng Man Tat and others yesterday attended. Heung Wa Sing's old flame Shirley Cheung Yuk Shan also appeared. Wong Jing said that the primary ceremony was already completed in Beijing. Yesterday was only remembering Heung Wa Sing. He remembered him the most for his persistence toward film. He will fulfill his wish of remaking GOD OF GAMBLERS? He said that it will not be easy and it will have to wait for inspection approval. Stephen Chow Sing Chi, Jackie Chan, Jordan Chan Siu Chun and his wife, Anita Yuen Wing Yi and Julian Cheung Chi Lam, Louis Koo Tin Lok and others all sent floral arrangements.
