[2024.10.03] STUNTMAN TOPS NATIONAL DAY BOX OFFICE

The Hong Kong Theaters Association organized, the Film Development Fund and the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Office sponsored the "10.1 Movie Fiesta Half Price Spectacular" was held at half price for all 59 commercial cinemas in Hong Kong regardless of any screening format and cinema the day before yesterday. More than 1,986 screenings were held, with a total attendance of 189,000. It broke the previous record of 155,000 attendances of last year's "10.1 Movie Fiesta Half Price Spectacular", an increase of 22% over last year. At the same time it set a new record for the National Day attendance in the past 10 years. The day's revenue was about HK$ 7,405,058. Reportedly the Terrance Lau Chun Him, Stephen Tung Wai and Philip Ng Won Lung starred STUNTMAN (MO TAI DOH) was the "10.1" single-day box office champion, beating the DreamWorks animation WILD ROBOT, Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and MC Cheung Tin Fu's LOVE LIES (NGOR TAM DIK NA CHEUNG LUEN OI) and the animation TRANSFORMERS ONE.

The box office sales at cinemas of each districts were ideal, with many shows sold out. The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung Yun Hung, interacted with the public at a cinema in Kwun Tong and said, "I saw the flow of people at the cinemas and the large number of viewers going to the theatre as a family for the first program to celebrate the National Day holiday, the cinemas had a lively atmosphere and I felt the joy of having fun with the people." The government sponsored the half price tickets for the event. The Hong Kong Theaters Association chairman Timothy Yuen Yin Man said, "We are delighted to have a record number of attendances for this year's '10.1 Movie Fiesta Half Price Spectacular', second only to the Hong Kong Cinema Day in April, to become the second highest single-day attendance record this year. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the public for their enthusiastic participation and support to the cinema industry in Hong Kong."
